"Mr. Drake, I talked to the doctor. They said the report showed Ms. Ritter had mild malnutrition and signs of mild anemia," Hayden said cautiously, keeping an eye on Luke's reaction.
After Hayden finished talking, Luke, who was sitting in the back seat and staring down at the report, frowned in irritation.
He thought, 'I knew it. That pale face of Jane's is definitely a sign of anemia. She never admits she's weak.'
"Got it." Luke's cold voice echoed in the car. "Tell Mandy to make a nourishing soup for Ms. Ritter every day. And..."
Luke paused for a moment before he added coldly, "Don't let her know it's my order."
Hayden replied, "Understood. By the way, Mr. Drake, there's something else you need to decide. Harvey personally checked the ring on Ms. Judd's finger. He confirmed it was the obsidian ring you always wore. Do you still want to meet with Ms. Judd?
Luke had been looking for the girl who saved him that night at the Night Charm Club.
Both Hayden and Harvey were aware of this. At first, they only needed to track her down step by step.
But the issue was, when Harvey found Ella, she refused to show the ring anyway. It wasn't until a few days ago that she finally agreed to bring it out for Harvey to inspect.
But now, Luke seemed to be getting closer to Jane. Hayden couldn't figure out what Luke was thinking. He wondered whether Luke still wanted to marry Ella like he promised, or if he was starting to care about Jane.
Unexpectedly, a few seconds later, Luke's cold and emotionless voice came from the back. "Tell Harvey I'll meet with her as planned."
Luke didn't even bat an eye as he made his decision. He didn't change his plans just because of what happened with Jane.
After all, the woman he bought for 300 thousand dollars, a one-year stand-in, was not the same as the woman he promised to marry out of duty. They were just not on the same level.
Meanwhile, Jane was about to head home after leaving the hospital when she got a call from the police.
An officer said, "Is this Jane? We've made progress in the case regarding the suspect Scott Rosewood, who kidnapped you near Ashwood University. We need you to come down to the station to help with the identification and investigation."
As soon as she heard Scott's name, Jane remembered the kidnapping incident that happened in the alley behind Ashwood University. Surely, she wanted to help bring the criminal to justice. She immediately agreed to cooperate, saying she could come right away.
Just then, Daniel happened to be driving out of the hospital and spotted her waiting for a bus.
"Mrs. Drake, you didn't leave with Mr. Drake?" Daniel rolled down the car window, resting his arm on the sill, and looked up at her.
"Daniel..." Jane hid a brief flash of guilt in her eyes when she saw Daniel.
But she quickly came up with an explanation. "I had something to take care of and didn't want to trouble Mr. Drake. He left first.
"By the way, Daniel, do you have time? The police just called me, asking me to come in for an investigation. I'm worried I might be late."
Daniel looked at her through his glasses, his gaze calm. "Get in. I'll drive you there."
At the police station, Daniel parked across the street while Jane hurried inside. As she reached the steps outside the station, someone grabbed her sleeve.
Lily immediately confronted Jane, blocking her path as she hissed and fumed, "Well, Jane. I knew this whole mess had something to do with you.
"Tell me. Did you lie to the police and make up some false report to get Ella arrested?"
