"Lily..." Jane froze for a second when she saw Lily. "What are you doing here? I'm in a hurry. Let go of me."
She didn't have time for Lily. The police had called her in to help identify someone for their investigation, and she just wanted to make sure the criminal was brought to justice.
However, Lily wouldn't let her go. "You think you can just walk away without explaining? Bitch, you've been living off the Judd family for a whole year, eating our food and using our money. Now you turn your back and accuse Ella?"
"I swear, if you harm her, I'll make sure you and your mom pay for it!"
Luckily, two officers heard the noise and came over to stop Lily.
One of them said, "Hey! What do you think you're doing? This is the police station. Stop making a scene here."
Another added, "Let go of her and leave here."
Lily's face went pale when she saw the police. She quickly started crying, playing the victim.
She sobbed, "Officers, you've got it all wrong. This is my niece. We're just handling some family matters. You don't know. My niece isn't a—"
Ignoring her, Jane pulled out her ID and showed it to an officer. "Sir, I'm Jane. I received a call from the station asking me to come in and assist with the investigation."
After confirming her identity, the officer immediately escorted her inside.
Lily tried to follow, but the officer at the door blocked her. She stood outside, muttering angrily and cursing loudly.
Inside the police station, Jane sat in the interrogation room and listened to the officer's explanation. It didn't take long for her to understand what had been going on.
The case had made some progress after several days of questioning and investigation.
The police found out that, besides Scott, the main suspect who had kidnapped Jane and dragged her into the alley, and the few thugs who had been watching the alley, there seemed to be another mastermind behind it all.
Then the police officer explained, "Scott admitted that he got a call from a friend who told him you were seen near the alley across from Ashwood University.
"That same friend told him to take action against you. We brought you in today to see if you can identify this person.
"We're going to have a few people walk into the room across from you. We want you to look through this special glass and see if you recognize anyone.
"Don't worry, it's one-way glass. You can see them, but they can't see you. Just let us know if you recognize anyone."
The police didn't tell Jane everything, especially the most critical parts, probably to avoid her identification being swayed by Scott's confession.
They just asked her to point out anyone she might recognize in the room.
Once Jane was ready, the door to the room across from her opened.
Eight people walked in, led by the officers.
As soon as the group entered, Jane's eyes immediately locked onto Ella through the glass. Ella kept her head down, too scared to look up.
Jane thought, 'It's Ella. No wonder Lily tried to stop me outside earlier, accusing me of making a false report and framing Ella. It turned out the mastermind behind all of this has been Ella the whole time!'
She was shocked to discover that her cousin Ella was the one who had manipulated others into kidnapping her and orchestrated such a vile act outside the school.
Though Jane had suspected for a while that her so-called family wasn't truly family, seeing it firsthand left her consumed with both rage and sadness.
'It wasn't enough that Ella scammed me out of 60 thousand dollars. Now, she's trying to have me killed!' Jane thought.
Without hesitation, Jane raised her right hand and pointed directly at Ella in the room.
She said, "I know the woman standing second from the left. She's my cousin, Ella, the only one here who had a grudge against me."
