Ella was practically scared to tears. She had seen what happened to Scott Rosewood and Jasmine. No matter how much she coveted this luxurious life, she didn't want to spend the rest of her days in prison.
Panic-stricken, Ella grabbed the hem of her evening gown and, stumbling and scrambling, rushed upstairs to pack her things after speaking to her mother.
"Wait, Ella, come back here right now. Sit down and tell me exactly. How did Luke find out it was Jane that night?"
Unlike Ella, Lily was far more cunning and experienced. She immediately sensed something was off. With a firm grip, she forced Ella down onto the sofa.
"Ella, listen carefully. This thing can't go wrong. Calm down. Don't forget, Luke's assistant found you through that ring. Jane doesn't have the real ring; what could she possibly use to prove her identity to Luke?"
"Right, the ring." Ella's panic intensified when she heard Lily's words.
"Just now, at the Drake family's party, Jane suddenly appeared. She demanded the real ring from me. Mom, she knows everything. She knows I gave her a fake ring. She's making me pay 60 thousand dollars and return the real ring."
Seeing her daughter's panicked expression, Lily pounced on the key issue. "She confronted you about the ring at the Drake family's party? What about Luke? Was he aware? What was his stance?"
Ella stammered. "Luke knows, too. He even had Jane thrown out of the party." Ella paused for a moment before suddenly realizing.
"Wait, maybe Luke really doesn't know. He actually defended me at the party, introducing me to everyone as his girlfriend. When Yvonne wanted Jane thrown out, Luke didn't stop her; he even told his men to do it."
As Ella spoke, her panic gradually subsided. 'Maybe things aren't as bad as I thought,' she told herself. 'If Luke had really discovered the truth, there's no way he would have defended me at the party or introduced me as his girlfriend.'
"Exactly!" Lily said with even more conviction. "Luke definitely doesn't suspect you.
"If he really did, given his temperament, do you think he'd introduce you as his girlfriend in front of everyone? No way. Clearly, it's just that little bitch Jane who found out we gave her a fake ring."
Lily breathed a sigh of relief, thinking her daughter was still too green, so easily rattled by a simple bluff.
"But if that's the case, then why did I see Luke carrying Jane into the elevator after the party?" Ella was stunned for a moment, her voice still trembling with lingering fear as she spoke.
Lily's eyes widened. "What did you say? Luke carried Jane into the elevator? Are you absolutely certain you didn't mistake them for someone else?"
"I'm certain!" Ella nodded viciously, her eyes blazing with venomous hatred.
"That little bitch Jane, she wasn't even dressed, just wrapped in Luke's suit jacket, lying in his arms. I saw with my own eyes how Luke carried her into the elevator. The way she looked, you could tell she'd clearly just been with a man."
Ella continued, spewing a torrent of obscenities too vulgar to repeat. With every vile detail Ella recounted, Lily's face darkened like a gathering storm.
"Mom, I'm totally ruined this time. What am I gonna do? Luke hasn't even touched me once, and now he's completely under Jane's spell.
"There's no way I can keep my position as the future Mrs. Drake now. I refuse to go back to being looked down on by Jane again!"
"No, don't lose your head just yet." Lily steadied her. "I don't think this is as simple as it looks."
She couldn't believe that if Luke had really uncovered the truth, he'd be acting like this. There's definitely something fishy going on here.
"Just wait," Lily whispered into Ella's ear. "First, we'll find a chance to test that little bitch Jane. See if she really knew it was Luke that night. And you speed things up.
"Whether Luke knows the truth or not, we're going to pin this on him. Since Samuel Drake cares most about heirs, we have to make sure you get pregnant."
After hearing Lily's words, the look of shock and panic on Ella's face gradually shifted into one of ruthless determination.
The next morning, when Jane woke up again, she found herself in a fresh set of light purple loungewear. Her ankle felt much better after being treated. Only the small of her back still carried an unfamiliar, lingering soreness.
Now she remembered. 'Yesterday, in the VIP room of the hall, I stubbornly bit my lip, refusing to beg for mercy. I wouldn't even let myself cry or show any weakness in front of Luke. That seemed to have completely pissed him off.'
