Ordinary people might not know the truth behind the scenes. As a regular in Jovinia's high society, Luke had long heard of the famous Crystal Palace—and he knew exactly what kind of shady business went on behind its glamorous facade.
Rumor had it this place catered exclusively to wealthy women—Jovinia's most notorious pleasure den, where the city's richest ladies squandered their fortunes. The male attendants here can cater to every whim of their female clients.
As long as one had the money, she could even hire a dozen attendants at once to service a single client—money made anything possible there.
"Mr. Drake, who would've thought Ms. Ritter would stand you up and end up at a place like that. Should I still send a team to bring her back?"
Hayden sighed inwardly, "Ms. Ritter—of all the reckless things you can do, why must you always pick the most self-destructive one? You're Mr. Drake's woman, after all."
If he just showed up with a bunch of guys to get Jane from a place like this, it would make it obvious to everyone that Luke'd been cheated on.
Luke said coldly, "No need. Let her have her fun. Throw out all of her belongings from the apartment and change the door code. From now on, there is no trace of Jane in this apartment. Whatever happens to her is none of my concern."
With that, Luke turned and strode toward Dwight's ward. His chilling aura made Hayden dare not approach. Hayden could only watch helplessly as Luke disappeared from sight.
Half-conscious, Jane felt her whole body burning up—a strange, restless heat she couldn't understand. She had no idea how long she'd been unconscious. Her head spun dizzily. She couldn't form a single coherent thought. Her eyelids were too heavy to lift.
Someone snapped impatiently, "What's going on? You told me she'd wake up within half an hour after inhaling that stuff. It's already been five minutes, and she's still out cold. When the hell is she supposed to wake up?
"I don't want to film her lying there like a corpse. She'd play the victim and claim she didn't know anything. What I want is a video of her acting all slutty on her own. Once that gets out, Luke will loathe her.
"Enough. She's still not awake. You lot, go wake her up. I'm done waiting." A vaguely familiar female voice rang in Jane's ears—shrill, affected, dripping with that imperious tone she knew all too well.
Through the fog in Jane's mind, it suddenly hit her. That was Ella's voice.
The moment Jane realized Ella was right beside her, panic surged through her. She struggled with all her might to open her eyes. With a surge of desperate willpower, Jane finally shattered the fog clouding her mind and snapped her eyes open.
A searing light blasted her face. The glare sent waves of dizziness through her. Jane turned away, shielding her eyes as she fought to adjust to the painful brightness.
"She's awake. Ms. Judd, the woman's finally come to."
"See? I told you my stuff works like a charm."
A thug growled, "What the hell are we waiting for? Let's do her now. This chick's got skin like silk and a face to die for—I've been itching to get my hands on her." Several male voices erupted from around her.
It took Jane a while to finally adjust to the harsh light. As she slowly lowered her shielding hand from her face, the sight before her left her horrified.
As her vision cleared, Jane found herself in what appeared to be a dimly lit VIP lounge—the kind of private club room where no good ever happened. Several blinding stage lights stood near the dance floor just ahead of her.
The searing glare that had assaulted her eyes the moment she first opened them came from those very spotlights. Beside the glaring spotlights, multiple cameras were positioned, all aimed directly at her. Multiple cameras were trained on Jane's face from every conceivable angle.
Beside the cameras stood several masked men, their true faces impossible to discern. They came in all shapes and sizes. Though their faces were hidden, the lecherous glints in their eyes as they shamelessly ogled Jane left no doubt about their vile intentions.
Even with a mask on, Jane would recognize that man anywhere—Chris, the very one who had drugged her and lured her here. But even all of that paled in comparison to what truly shocked Jane.
Jane could hardly believe her eyes—there, right in the very midst of those men, sat Ella herself.
