: A BUG
FREYA'S POV:
I don't stop walking until I'm right at the entrance of the class room and let go of Adam's hand to drop on my usual seat.
"Hey... You sure you're okay?" He asks again, approaching my desk.
I look up at him, forcing a smile, though my heart is pounding so fast and stinging like a burn.
He finally nods before walking over to his own desk and chair. Luckily, he takes the one right next to me which fills me with a bit of comfort.
I need the emotional support, especially since Silas would be attending this very same class and with Elena by his side.
Memories of the first class we had ever had comes rushing in. How he blatantly let her be all over him and looked at me with this demeaning look in his eyes, as though he would be okay with me joining in on their fuck fest.
Would I be forced to endure all that today as well? Would he let her be all over him, especially knowing the history we've had?
Silas wouldn't be that cruel.
I mean, this whole thing still seems so pre-rehearsed and I'd admit a part of me is still hopeful that the Silas I had fallen for existed.
But seeing him with her in the hallway chipped away more of that hope even more.
I stiffened, seating up properly just as I notice them walking in.
The students by the door bow their heads slightly, making a path way for him to walk in and he breezes in with this very brisk walk.
His face is in a deep set frame, his eyes staring straight ahead and uninterested.
He gives up the emotion, like he's been rubbed off the wrong way and no one should approach for their own safety. And just behind him, jogging a bit to match his pace, is Elena.
She catches up to him, grabbing his arm and he doesn't flinch away from them or chide her.
Another pang sets in my chest and I pry my eyes away, facing ahead of the class room like I should be.
It's only then I realize Adam's been watching my movement, just as I had been watching Silas'.
He offers a strained smile once he's been caught staring and looks the other way.
I'm immediately overcome by guilt.
Nice work, Freya.
"Good morning, class." The teacher walks in finally, with her characteristic gait and stern body language.
The once noisy class grows silent as all attention is forced her way. I myself am grateful she's finally here; I need the distraction, I guess.
"There will be projects that will be assigned to each of you in groups at the end of the class. Be sure to pay attention, so you actually know what I need you to do. A score below a 'C' is an automatic fail in this course." She announces firmly.
The thought of working in a group made me feel anxious, especially with the rumors and all the trust issues developed in the past few weeks.
I do hope that Adam gets on my team, needing the familiar face.
The class begins, and I hate to admit to myself just how hard it is to focus on a single word she says.
My ears instead focus on what goes on at the back of the class against my will, to pick up any sound from them. It's unimportant and useless, and Silas should be the least of my concerns, yet I shamelessly do it.
I should be focusing on some sort of self- development to get over my trauma and hurt from him, but my mind has other plans.
And knowing just how much I could be potentially hurting Adam in return puts me in a tight situation.
"Silas..."
I freeze once my ears pick up the slightest whisper from Elena. My pen suddenly halts from the notes I'm taking down.
"Do you need a pen? I have an extra one." She continues whispering.
I slowly slide my head just a bit to watch them with the side of my eyes. It feels just wrong doing this, but I'm compelled to. I tell myself that it's just curiosity after all...
Nothing else.
From the corner of my eye, I can see her reaching into her bag and pulling out a free pen she actually does have.
She very stylishly leans towards him in a suggestive manner that shows off the top of her tits popping in that low-neck top she's wearing.
I feel really ticked and pissed off all of a sudden. I want to reach out and pull on that strawberry blonde hair that just might not be really blonde, and smack her in the face.
She drops the pen in his hand and takes her time to caress the skin she purposefully grazes.
That damned attention seeking whore.
I unintentionally drop my pen with my attention focused on her. It clatters to the ground, drawing a few eyes my way suddenly - luckily not interrupting the whole class.
I suddenly realize just what the hell I'm doing.
Letting Silas and his slut take control of my concentration and affect me when they should be the least of my worries.
Sighing and embarrassed, I bend to pick up my pen... and so does Adam.
Our fingers touch in the moment of us both reaching to grab it at the same time. I recoil from the sudden contact, feeling my cheeks flush with heat while he grabs the pen.
"Here, seems your mind is elsewhere." He whispers, handing it back to me.
I reach out and grab it, my eyes lingering on him just a bit. I'm thinking of just how sweet he still is towards me in this situation.
A loud cracking noise breaks our eye contact, immediately drawing our attention, and not just ours.
Everyone else in the class hears it and turns to the back of the class in unison.
Once I do, I immediately meet Silas' cold dead eyes staring back at me with so much intense emotions that I can't figure out.
It's the first time in a while he stares at me without looking away long enough, and I feel that unexplainable spark instantly. It's like my soul is being drawn out from the construct of my body and transported to a realm where it's just me and those sparkling Silver orbs that could potentially ruin me.
My heart pulse picks up with my once depressed wolf wanting to get even closer to him. The fucking Traitor.
"Silas Bloodmoon!" The teacher's sudden shriek startles me out of the trance.
Suddenly, my soul is painfully tossed back into reality and I'm blinking rapidly and trying to take air into my lungs again.
Once our eye contact breaks, I look away for a moment before looking back again. This time, his eyes are on Adam, with a deep hateful glare, briefly flashing a bright gold.
"You just destroyed school property, Mr. Bloodmoon." She refers to the chuck of wood Silas' had just ripped off his desk with his bare hands.
Silas finally focuses on the middle aged lady with a more emotionless look.
"Sorry, Mrs. Michael. I saw a bug that needed to be squished." He responds.
I don't know why but for some reason, that sounded ominous and threatening...
But I look away, facing forward again, just so I won't fall into that weird trance with Silas again. I needed to be getting over him, not spying in on his conversations with his girlfriend and staring into his eyes, like some desperate fan girl.
"That's not an excuse. Meet me in my office after class, so we can discuss how to fix your mistake."
"Yes, ma'am." He responds with a curt nod.
It takes a while for class to continue like it had been before, with the teacher falling back into her topic and everyone else following.
I groan now, rubbing my temples slowly. For some reason, I know today will be unnecessarily long. I mean, this had to be some kind of bad omen jinxing the rest of today.
An hour rolls by painfully slow with me battling with my attention span and forcing my focus to the front of class and not back, not wanting to even for a seconds mistakenly meet Silas' eyes.
Once the lecture is done, I'm more than relieved and ready to leave.
"Okay now, class. For your project, you're going to be divided in groups of four, and make a group presentation for each topic you would be shedding further light on." She begins writing the different topics on the marker board.
I quickly take them down in my notebook. "There must be equal participation. If anyone for any reason doesn't do the work, that's an automatic
And don't bother trying to change your partners fail.
because I won't allow that." She says, sighing at the last part Now, I cross my fingers while she begins calling names of each respective group and giving them their own topics, sending out a telepathic message to the
Moon Goddess and every other deity to put Adam on my team.
I really need a win today.
"Now, for the final group. Group 8 will be consisting of Adam Garner... Freya Willows..." "Yes!" I whisper to myself, giving the air a fist bump.
Adam sees this and chuckles at me before giving me a wink that makes me blush again. Finally, a fucking win.
Nothing could ruin this moment. "...And also Elena Crescent, along with Silas Bloodmoon."
I halt in place just like that with my jaw almost dropping to the ground.
Fucking shit... I spoke too soon.
