                    : THANK YOU
FREYA'S POV:
I've lost track of how long I've remained rolled up into a human swiss roll crying my eyes out, hoping silently that he comes back and that this isn't over.
But he doesn't ever return, and I've resigned myself to this new reality in front of me.
All that's left is for me to leave on my own.
I most definitely can't go back to school now. They'd never let an Omega in. Before I could even get close enough, I would be spotted and captured for trying to break in and my secret would be out.
I couldn't even dare return to at least say goodbye to Xena. Adam. Lucas...
I couldn't go back home.
I rose to my feet wiping my dripping eyes and giving one last look in the direction of school, where the lights were coming from. It had been my dream and farther away from school against the direction of the wind crashing into our face.
Goodbye, I mutter only in my mind.
We run for only a few minutes and in a few minutes more, we'd be out of school territory and then off to an unknown direction.
Suddenly, there was a fierce growl coming towards our direction.
A single glance behind me and I spot a darker wolf coming at us at an alarming speed. It's bigger and fasting with a killing intent in its eyes.
Panicked, I pick up the pace now, running faster, suspecting that I've been caught by someone maybe one of the school guards patrolling the border.
I run as fast as my smaller legs can take me, as though my life depends on it - which it potentially does.
I can't get caught.
I won't get caught.
Despite the chanting, we're not fast enough to outrun it.
The wolf catches up to us, quickly leaping over us and landing a few feet in front of us, sending a warning growl to surrender and yield, which should be the wise thing to do but I can't.
I can't get locked up again.
Terrified, I turn round and run again, trying to escape once more. The wolf jumps at us, attacking again.
This time, without a warning.
It crashes onto us, causing our body to tumble and roll before smashing our back hard against a sturdy tree that stops our fall.
By the time I open my eyes again, the thick black wolf towers over us, approaching slowly and growling with dangerous pale blue eyes.
Its stance alone tells us that there's no more mercy after refusing its initial command an omega has to obey.
Resolving to my fated and horrible end, I yield, without a fight left within me anymore and the intense pain throbbing in my back.
It's over, there's no point in running.
I can almost imagine the wizard's chuckle. He's having a good laugh at me for being stupid and giving my future away for love for Silas.
Just as I give up, my wolf form begins fading away after being already weakened. I shift back into my smaller and weaker body, naked and bare to the windy and cold night.
Once I'm back, I crawl into a ball, shivering and getting ready to be taken.
Weirdly, the wolf takes a step back, looking shocked once I've transformed, instead of capturing me like I had thought it would immediately.
Instead, it begins transforming, bones shifting loud enough for me to hear and once all that black fur is gone and flesh is seen, it's now revealed to be a female wolf.
She stands up straight, and I'm standing right in front of a naked Xena.
I would drop if I wasn't in intense pain.
"Freya!" She exclaims, running up to me now and looking all over me frantically
"Oh my god, Freya... it is you!"
Her eyes scream desperately for it not to be true as she looks over my shivering and weak form.
She reaches back to touch the back of my bruised head and once she pulls her hand back, there's thick red liquid dripping down her hand.
She gasps in horror, clutching her mouth with her freehand and starts crying dreadfully and shaking her head as though denying the reality that I had been badly injured.
"Freya... I'm so sorry, I didn't know it was you." She begins pleading just as my vision begins to blur and the throbbing in my head intensifies.
"It's fine." I croak, falling backwards but she catches me in her hands.
She only grows more scared.
"I-I thought you were someone else... You don't feel like yourself... but it's you - I-I attacked you. I'm so sorry, Freya, I should have known. I shouldn't have attacked you." She bursts into more tears.
But there would have been no way she'd have known it was me. She had never seen my wolf and now that I'm no longer an Alpha, there is no way she could have recognized me.
Rather, all this is my fault.
"It's fine, Xena. It's my fault. It's all my fault." I repeat, crying softly.
I should have just surrendered earlier, then this wouldn't have happened. She wouldn't have attacked her friend unknowingly.
I should have just told the truth a long time ago and we wouldn't need to be in this situation.
"No, it isn't, Freya. First, let's get you to the nurse, you need to get treated."
"No!" I stop her before she can lift me off the ground and my head pulses from just yelling. "No, I can't go back there like this." I gesture to myself, unable to say it with my mouth.
She looks at me, understanding what I mean without further explanation but with enough reluctance in her eyes. She doesn't want me to go untreated but I plead with mine.
"Please, Xena. Please, I can't... I can't go back." My speech slowly grows more slurred with the amount of blood I'm losing.
Black dots begin popping into my line of sight while it proves more difficult to keep my eyes open.
She looks startled and unable to even think straight in this situation but nods her head firmly. "Okay, Freya, I won't take you back. I promise." She assures me, rising to her fit while carrying me in her arms gently and with so much ease.
"I'm going to take you somewhere else that's safe and get you the help you need, okay? You can relax." She says gently.
I can feel my body begin to move and soon enough, I hear the pitter patter of her bare feet crashing against the hard earth as she runs into some direction, the pulsing of her erratically beating heart while she runs. Just as my consciousness fades away, I barely utter the words I need to say while the last tears slide down my eyes.
"Thank you, Xena."
