SILAS' POV:
The feeling of betrayal, coupled with series of other emotion buzzing around in my mind cloud every other reasonable thoughts in my head.
Its harder to think straight or process half the things I've been told by Freya... and then the unbelievable reveal she's made; the fact that she isn't actually an alpha, that she had been lying all this time. Deceiving everyone of us.
That isn't even the issue right now, I wont say I;m not surprised or it doesn't make a huge dent in all my plans but its something I can easily get over.
She could have just said something.
Then gain I know I have no right to be as pissed off as I am because I had kept my secrets, but we had promised to be transparent, being scared of the outcome doesn't just cut it any more.
Damn it, every thing just makes a whole lot more sense.
Her short height and frail form, her unnatural lack of raw strength. She's got a fiery personality but has never bossed anyone around because there's no single drop of alpha dominance in her blood.
I had been so blinded and dumb not to have noticed everyone of the signs blaring in my face instead I had told myself it's Freya, so there's nothing wrong.
This changes so much, so much of the loophole Lucas was talking about could be affected and that's why minutes past midnight i desperately rummage through files filled with pack laws, anything that could salvage the current situation.
The library door slowly pulls open revealing a ially drowsy Lucas rubbing at his tired eyes whilst yawing and stretching out his hands
"You called me way past bed time Silas, this better be worth it." He whispers harshly from annoyance though his ticked off expression falls apart once he sees the entirety of the mess I've made going through past documents.
Mountains of yet to be reversed documents are on the other side while I'm at the center of the chaos. 1
"What's all this?" He says picking up a piece to look over it "Its a bit to late to study the constitution don't you think?"
"That's not what this is about." I correct taking a pause to rub my pulsing temples.
Its even harder to focus feeling every troubled emotion of hers permeating through the mate bond. I feeling of sadness and anxiety filter into my mind messing up every sane train of though that crawls into my mind.
Lucas sighs dropping on the floors as well.
"What do you need then?"
The reason I had called Lucas here is because he's well versed in things like this having studied largely to be a Zeta under my father.
There's no time to think about the emotions passing through my mind to I push all that aside/
"You said I could be with Freya as especially since she's an alpha once the peace treaty is signed."
"Yeah, that way King Darius won't be on your neck to get engaged to the sea witch."
"Does she have to be an alpha?" I ask now.
He looks as me weirdly whilst also questioning if he had heard me correctly.
"What?"
"Answer me Lucas... does she have to be an alpha." I ask again growing impatient.
"Well yeah... you cant be with any other ranking female."
"Fuck!" I yell tossing away the bunch of paper tacked in front of the
The pile scatters around as I rise to my feet finally pacing back and forth in the room tempted to begin pulling on my hair.
The wall I've built to block all those emotions subsides momentarily and I feel her pain, her anguish rushing into my thoughts again in a way that I don't know where mine ends and hers begin and I unable to make sense of half of it.
Everything seems heightened for an absurd reason and I punch hard into the wall to set my thoughts straight once more.
Lucas watches me as though I've gone bat shit crazy but comments on none of it.
"What going on? Why are you suddenly asking if Freya's a Alpha or not, we all know she is."
Correction we all thought we knew Freya while she carried such a big secret under our noses this whole time, she trusted no one even me and lied to us.
That fucking hurts.
"Freya... is not an alpha."
"What? What are you saying, we all know Freya. Yeah she's pint-sized and cant really do much but she is one." He defends it reluctantly.
I cant blame him though, if I hadn't seen it myself I would have been just a doubtful as he's being. "No. She's not an alpha.. she's been hiding her status all this while and perfectly I might add. She got us all believing she's one of us. She's a goddamn Omega."
His face drops hearing the last words while his mind desperately tries to weave the two possibilities together.
Although from his facial expression it might not be working out so well for him but he's taking it better than I had.
"How is that even possible, for an Omega to be an alpha... that makes no sense, maybe you're mistaken." "I'm not mistaken, I wouldn't imagine up this kind of scenario. She said she got help from some wizard."
"What?"
"I know, I didn't believe it myself."
It had sounded like another excuse to cover up another secret she's keeping from me. Who knows if there are so much more she's not telling me because she doesn't trust me enough.
"Are you sure she said wizard... that's not possible"
His expression doesn't seem doubtful though instead it's as though he's shocked, surprised by it but not in disbelief.
"Silas... wizards are real. Literally your ancestors encountered a group of them."
"What?"
"Its told as a tale but its is actual real; the story about them encountering a band of wizards and there was a dispute over land resulting in conflict that lasted for five years before a peace treaty was made and that family heirloom, the ruby necklace was given as a symbol of peace as long as neither parties interfered in the the other."
"So you're saying the wizard is real? She really met one?"
wasn't a lie?
"Yes and if she says she met one that's bad news, worst of all is Freya using magic which is a major crime and if the Alpha king finds out the best case scenario would be her getting banished with the rest of her family and her accomplices." He explains.
I freeze now hearing the implications More an more everything sounds believable and complicated with every truth and explanation given. How on earth was she even able to meet one, why did she risk something this bad to make a deal with one? "We need to do something before its too late, maybe coming clean to your father now would help remedy the situation--"
I grip him by the neck and off his feet in seconds before he can complete such a bold statement. How dare he plan to hand over my mate to save his ass?
"There will be no one reporting anything to my father."
"Silas..." He chokes out, coughing as I tightening the pressure round his neck
"Is this your new plan to get back in his good graces? Rat Freya out? Don't make me regret trusting you again Lucas." I growl with my wolf pushing to rip his throat out this second.
I don't want to regret letting him into my circle again and telling him about Freya
"I'm not trying to get into anyone's good graces. I genuinely care about Freya... she's my friend." He manages to wheeze out.
I hold him for a few more seconds before deciding to let him go. He doesn't seem like he's telling a lie.
I drop him and he falls unto his knees coughing and gasping for air
I drop him and he coughs
"I was just trying to find an alternative that doesn't involve anyone getting locked up or banished." "Involving him wont do any good, instead this stays between just you, me and no one else, we keep this between ourselves alright?" He nods agreeing with me
We both know the implication of this leaking out into the public and I cant let anything happen to my mate, Omega or not, even if she really is a wanted criminal I have to protect her from my father. Suddenly I hear a thudding sound from behind the shelves and I swerve back to look at it but no ones there.
I move in closer to inspect the area to see if in fact someone is there or I'm just being extra sensitive about the situation but lucky enough its empty and there's just a book that seemed to have fallen off the book shelf on its own.
Do books casually drop off their shelves?
But there really isn't anyone in sight, nor trace of a scent.
Just as I'm about to walk away something catches my eye in a corner just peeking from under the shelf belonging to the stray book; a pink hair tie.
