                    : DEFEAT
I'm about to do anything to Elena.
One moment, she's there and I'm momentarily distracted by the distress call crashing into my mind from Freya, and when I'm present again, she's gone.
Completely vanished without a single trace of her scent, without making a single sound on her way out.
Like an eerie ghost.
They are a thousand shades of wrong going on right now but I can't focus on either of them for even a moment, running out the door and leaping down the flight of stairs, unable to walk down each of them as calmly as I can.
Once I'm out, I rip through my flesh, morphing into my wolf form and dashing towards her direction without a second thought.
I need to be fast.
Who knows when she had spoken to my father and how long he had dispatched his people to bring her to him?
Who knows if they've found out where they are yet?
I stretch out my forelegs, propelling myself forward as hard as I can.
I need to be faster.
I run through the wood past the thick trees with branches, seeking to hold me back but I break through each one in my way with my wolf's strength.
The distress signal blaring into my mind becomes only dire and I just know it from the pit of my gut that something awfully wrong had happened.
I regret everything instantly; leaving her behind, thinking it was a good idea that it was for her protection.
It had been but it's more clear that only I could really keep her safe, only I could risk my life doing so.
She was mine to protect after all, and again and again, I constantly let her down, even now.
I would never forgive Father if a single hair on her head is hurt. I would never forgive Mother for never seeing past his bullshit even after all these years.
No one would be absolved from my rage if harm comes to her... And as for Elena.
Tearing her to shreds piece by piece would be the most merciful thing I can offer her.
he cottage ing begins coming into view as I leap forward desperately and I immediately notice the guards standing by the door.
Two more step out, dragging a bound Lucas and Xena, both unconscious.
It must have been a sneak attack while they weren't expecting it... It would only explain why anyone would so easily capture the both of them without serious casualties with the duo involved.
This only confirms my suspicions that Freya really is in danger now that the two people left in charge of keeping her safe are unconscious.
Without wasting time, I lurch forward, attacking the first set of guards in my way... the ones holding Xena and Lucas, especially before howling in the air to send a warning to each of one of them standing in my way.
The rest of the unscathed guards don't attack, instead circling me without stepping forward, recognizing me as their future Alpha instantly but still not backing down like they should.
I growl, howling even louder the second time as a warning to them until the front door pulls open again revealing Father.
The Alpha King.
Heads bow to him instead as they recognize him as their Alpha and not me.
These fucking bastards.
While he steps out, I finally notice Freya bonded and held up on her feet by one of his arms casually. She's unscathed but half-conscious and barely holding herself up because of the pain in her lower back.
"Son..." He yells out his greetings to me. "So lovely of you to join us so soon. I was just sharing a few words with your friends." He points to unconscious Lucas and Xena and then Freya that whimpers against his tightening grip.
He tosses Freya forward and onto the ground in front of me once she trips on her own feet, crashing.
She winces from the pain of her weakened body that hasn't fully recovered, crashing against the hard earth.
I feel her terror, her fear of death, her trauma through the mate bond and lose all control holding me back as my consciousness swaps out with my wolf's.
That spiteful smug smile on his face, I want to wipe it off and put in just as much fear as he's put into my innocent mate that's done nothing to deserve any of this treatment.
We see nothing but the blood red rage blocking all sense of reasoning, seeking only revenge and charge forward without a moment to waste, blood thirsty and lunging at the man I call Father.
My claws come out, reaching out to swipe him in the face and draw blood, that is until he smiles too playfully and seems too relaxed for someone about to be tackled.
Raising his left leg swiftly, too fast that my eyes can't follow its movement, he kicks me into the other direction.
In only a split second, I see the almost inconspicuous glow of a red ruby necklace around his neck, pulsing with an almost life like intensity.
The force is hard and propels us through the air with speed as fast as sound until a tree trunk I crash into breaks my fall, and I drop onto the hard earth. We feel instant pain, my wolf and I, not only from the impact but also from landing, but we shrug it off, rising to our feet with no choice but to stand our ground and fight.
Freya is still in danger, and I have no idea what he would do to her.
A heavy down pour of rain begins matching the entire mood of the scenario we're in.
"Tsk tsk... you could have killed someone with that attack of yours. Don't tell me you were really going to harm your old man... What would your mother say?" He jokes about it like he does with everything, bringing mother into this as a leverage he always has over me.
But I don't let him this time
'You bastard,' I growl but its inaudible, coming out as an animal-like snarl.
"Did you just swear at me?" He chuckles again, taking everything like it's a game, and it fuels the burning desire to beat him into a pulp.
I take an offensive stance again, not backing down despite the differences in our power before charging at him again.
This time, he morphs into his wolf in a split second, defending against my blow before it hits.
He deflects the next strike from my claws, striking me back with his instead. The blow disorientates me only for a moment before I shake it off and attack again.
Vexed, I jump onto his body, pinning him down beneath me.
His wolf growls, fighting back at and snapping its snout, trying to tear me down with its sharp edge but
I dodge each one, holding it in place despite his struggles and land the first blow with my claw, slashing the surface of his skin.
I smirk to myself, reveling in the victory of landing the first blow before the other comes, I howling into the sky.
It's not much but I'm sure it's a blow to his disgusting ego that I'm able to land multiple hits on him and pin him down to the ground.
I'm lost in the moment's victory, totally unaware of my surroundings, so I don't notice the person walking up to me from behind and stabbing what feels like a needle right into my neck.
I feel the liquid being released right into my blood stream before I can react and fight back but my vision already turns blurry just like that.
My transformation is forced while my connection with my wolf breaks and my body reverts back to human.
My legs wobble, losing strength and gives away underneath me, forcing me to my knees.
I struggle to regain control of my body once more, begging my muscles to move on command but they fail me, falling apart one by one as my consciousness seeps from my body.
I fall down from my knees, face flat onto the wet earth.
Black spot slowly invade my vision and soon enough, it fades out with the last thing I see being his monstrous face.
