                    : HELPLESS
SILAS' POV:
The force of cold and chilling water splashing across my face forces my consciousness to come crashing back into my body.
I immediately go on defense, remembering the last thing I had witnessed while gasping for air but I'm far from where I had been the last time, my eyes were open.
Instead of the wet and muddy earth of the forest and sturdy trees around, I'm kneeling in a plain room with white walls and both my arms are heavily chained away from my body.
And right in front of me is my father, sitting calmly.
My rage returns only in seconds as I lurch forward after him, tugging at the chains to break them, but I'm pulled back by the unbreakable metal once my strength is unable to do so much.
"Laced with Silver." He points out just how much of my efforts are being wasted with my struggling.
Even with that, I continue my struggle like a rabid dog thirsty for blood for a few more minutes before the fatigue actually begins to settle in.
"Don't try to fight too much and waste your strength. The dose of wolfsbane injected into you is enough to kill a weaker wolf, but due to your superior bloodline, it only knocked you out and will weaken you for a few more hours." He explains it like an interesting fact, casually dropping the bucket down by his side.
This time, I stop fighting against it but continue sending an unwavering death glare his way.
"Hello, son." He greets me now.
I grind my teeth, growling at him but I'm unable to feel my wolf and partial morph. The connection between us still seems to be disrupted...
Which also means I can't communicate with Freya.
My heart drops.
I grow more panicked and anxious, realizing what that means.
"Where is she?" I growled at him, fighting against the chain, hoping that my strength could return to me at any moment and I'd break free.
"Who?" He feigns ignorance whilst watching me, amused.
His whole countenance only angers me further.
"I swear... if you've done anything to her..." I begin. He chuckles before I can complete my threat.
"What exactly will you do? You're chained up, you're weak and powerless and even if by some miracle you get out, you'd still have to face me." He points out the facts coldly with that annoying smirk of his.
I can't say anything, I have no comeback, and instead, I watch him silently like his dog.
"Good, that's exactly what you should do. Be silent and listen."
He gets up from the seat and folds his arms behind his back.
He doesn't say anything again for a while simply pacing round the room, looking at the fore walls and humming a song to himself.
He does that for an annoying amount of time before he finally speaks.
"I haven't done anything to your precious play thing ... yet."
"Mate." I correct him. "She's my mate."
"Not something you should be proud of don't you think? An Alpha from our bloodline... mated to a measly Omega? How will she rule by your side and support without being a hindrance?"
"It's none of your business."
I don't need her to do anything other than simply being right by my side, asides that, she's perfect the way she is.
"Oh, but it is... No son of mine will be mated to an omega, much less a criminal."
He seizes his pacing, turning back to me with his wide grin wiped off and a more stoic expression staring back at me.
"And just when one would think it can't get worse than that. You aid a criminal in hiding and even going further to defend her while she's being detained. You're lucky you're my son because if you weren't, you'd be spending a long time locked up together with your criminal aiding friends." He says.
It's now I realize he's also detained Lucas and Xena as criminals as well.
"You locked them up?"
"Of course I did, they're not minors anymore and they should have seen it coming. You thought you were protecting a friend but really, you were just giving me a good enough reason to push my plans further."
"What plans?"
"I know you were trying to get out of your betrothal by coming to some stupid agreement with the Crescent Moons. A stupid agreement that favors them ...all because of a girl. I know I raised you better than that."
He taunts me again, making a mockery of my choices only because they do not fit in with his agenda. But I'm immune to all this at this point, nothing he can say can bring me down.
He wants a reaction that I won't give him. I remain calm, keeping in mind that the most important thing is finding a way to get Freya out of here.
He might claim to not want to hurt her but I know very well that it's simply for the meantime when it doesn't align with his plans... but when it eventually does, he won't wait a second.
"You can cut the bullshit and go straight to the point." I spit out harshly.
"I'll ignore the disrespectful tone you're using and blame it on the toxic amount of poison flowing through your veins." He says briefly before brushing off my comment as a mistake on my part.
Then, he continues.
"Here's what we're going to do. I won't burn your girlfriend alive as long as you stick to your duties and responsibilities as the future Alpha and my son. You're going to drop all that nonsense with the agreement and make up with your soon to be mate, Elena." He states each condition firmly.
"No deal. We both know you're going to get rid of her the second I comply with that, once her being a leverage over me is no longer useful."
"True... but what choice do you have? Refuse and be the reason she's lynched, or agree and maybe you get the chance to say goodbye to her before it happens." He points out.
I'm not going to back down though.
"I choose neither. Here's what is going to happen instead. I go on with your plan and you set her free on a lighter sentence; banishment. I won't seek her out after that."
"You must take me for a fool. The only reason I'm going to lighten her sentence is after you're mated with Elena, so there's no funny business like the last time you tried to make a deal with me. She stays locked up as well." His frown deepens, taking my conditions as an insult.
"I'm not agreeing to that!" I yell out.
That's not even a compromise. Either way she suffers, unable to run freely.
"I can drag her out of her cell and wring her neck in front of you right now if you want."
"You wouldn't dare... You need my compliance to be mated to Elena." I defend frantically, calling his bluff but he stares back at me.
His cold dead heartless eyes give me a look that says it all with just a glance...
It's not bluff.
He will most definitely do anything to break my untamable spirit.
Fear.
For the fear of time, I stare back at him with the last emotion I ever want to let him see in my eyes.
I can't let him hurt Freya...
Even if it's just for a while before I can figure out something, some way to get her out of here and as far away from his reach as possible.
He has cornered me yet again.
I grind my teeth and bow my head in defeat. "Fine... I'll do it. I'll do whatever you want." I mutter.
I clench my fist at my side, hating how helpless I feel right now.
How could I claim to protect her and beg her not to run away from me, only to be unable to set her free?
I just need time...
More time to think up something.
"I know I've said this before but you brought this upon yourself. This situation where you have no choice but to comply to a higher power. Weakness, Silas. A man's weakness is the first place the enemy strikes." He says coldly.
I look up to the man I call father but to whom I have no fatherly bond with.
Just a tyrant ruling over me without a shred of humanity left in his cold beating heart.
"We're having dinner with our in-laws in a few days. You will join us in fixing the earliest date for your mating with Elena." He adds sternly with a heavy look of disappointment and disgust in his eyes, looking down at me.
I gnash my teeth again, biting back every harsh word
I want to say and every single one of my true feelings, all for Freya... so he doesn't try to prove just how low he will go to keep me in line. Instead, I give him the answers he so desperately wants to hear.
"Yes, Alpha."
