FREYA'S POV:
"Freya... Freya..."
The voice that seems a distance away summons my conscious mind back into my body and my groggy eyes slowly lift open.
It takes a moment for my blurry vision to take shape and I can finally make out exactly where I am again, and where the voice is coming from.
First off, I realize I'm in a cell room.
How do I know?
Same white walls just like before, resembling an asylum... probably designed to ensure that prisoners lose their grasp on reality and lose their minds.
Man, I had never thought I'd somehow find myself back here, but here I am, trapped in prison again.
Only difference with this room is the very tiny window high up on the wall to the other room; the hole that the voice seeps in.
Second thing I realize is just how familiar the voice is.
"Freya..." It calls out again like a harsh whisper.
"Xena?" I croak, still having a dry throat.
"Oh my god!" Her voice goes octaves higher and suddenly sounds extremely ecstatic. "Oh my God, Freya... You're awake!"
Yes I am... very much so.
I imagine her doing a little dance on the other side.
"Shit, are you okay...? Your bruises...did they open up? Are you bleeding again?"
"I
"Calm down, Xena... I don't feel any pain." I say, trying to assure her as best as I can, reaching up from behind my head to feel the big gash on the back of my head for blood.
"There's no blood... so I'm sure the cut hasn't..."
I pause mid-sentence, feeling something that shocks me and shouldn't be natural.
"The cut hasn't what?" She asks.
I say nothing, feeling the back of my head again just to be sure and sliding my hand up a little higher, just in case I have forgotten where the injury was supposed to be.
It's not possible to forget where you had a major injury, right?
Even with more perusing, there really isn't a single gash or open wound.
"It's gone." I say my thoughts out loud.
It should have taken two weeks tops to reach this level of healing, but it's gone.
"What do you mean it's gone?"
"I mean... I have no bruise at the back of my head." I say, realizing what's going... including the fact that I'm using my once broken arm with ease.
I should feel at least a headache and a bit bruised from the way King Darius had tossed me around before, but I don't feel not even a shred of fatigue.
Just what the hell is going on?
"That's a good thing, right?" A different voice that is male comments again from the other side as well.
"Lucas?"
"Hey, Freya... Glad you're finally awake. Xena's been fretting for hours non-stop." He lets out a sigh of relief.
"What are you doing here?"
"Same as you both are. Chained and locked up in a cell room."
His words shock me.
I had never expected King Darius to turn on one of his most loyal spies and lock him in a cell after risking so much to carry out his orders.
Though it's not hard for such a man to lack emotions like gratitude.
"You guys are chained up?" I ask, yelling loud enough so they can hear me clearly.
"Yeah... chained, high on wolfsbane as well." He comments.
"They took extra measure to make sure we don't break free." Xena adds.
"Huh."
I bet they didn't bother drugging me or chaining me down because they figured an Omega won't be much of a threat to them.
I'm far from flattered but grateful that my unfortunate situation saves me from the discomfort of being tied down like an animal and fed poison in situations like this.
Now, the roll call is almost complete.
"Is Silas there as well?" I ask hopefully while silently chanting to myself that it be so.
A moment of silence on their end passes before Xena responds.
"Freya...he's not... He's not here."
"Then do you know where he might be? Maybe in the cell next to yours?" I ask again, hopefully.
I can't feel him at all through our mind link like before and my wolf craves desperately for that connection to know if he's okay.
"King Darius isn't going to keep Silas locked up like we are. He's going to keep him somewhere different until he gets him to do what he wants and let him out."
My heart drops.
"And by doing what he wants... you mean..."
"Yeah... forcing him to mate with Elena."
SILAS' POV:
It's been hours since he's left my cell with no news of when I'm going to be let out of here, so I assume it's not until a few hours before the dinner.
A precautionary measure he's taken just in case I plan to sneak out and break Freya free.
He's really thought of everything... I'll commend him on that, but he has no choice but to let me out eventually and once he does, I'm sure he'd regret doing so in the first place.
No matter how tough he acts, I know he can only hold me in here for a little time. If not, he'd have taken his time to torture me into submission.
Damn it.
I still can't communicate with Freya or feel the connection between us. My wolf is still locked up somewhere in my mind.
Not knowing where she is, how she's doing and if she's okay isn't making things better.
If anything, they're worse because I can't think straight long enough to figure out the next step of my plan before blacking out in a moment of fits of rage. I'm losing my mind, unable to see her, touch her, take in her scent, and feel her presence. I'm going crazy from simply being this uncertain.
It feels like a huge chunk of me is missing and the white walls around me aren't helping either, adding to the effects of going senile.
I tug against the chains, testing my strength levels that still haven't returned.
Just how long will it take for this shit to wear off?
The locks on my door are clicked one by one, drawing my attention to it while my body tenses up. Is he back for another round of taunting? Does he want to force me to do something else for him?
I wonder.
The doors slowly pull open once all the locks are unfastened, revealing Elena.
"Hey, baby." She smiles sweetly, waving a hand my way despite the current situation.
Ugh!
I groan in disgust and annoyance just from seeing her walk into my room.
Is this another well revised method of torture he has made to mess with me now?
"What are you doing here?" I say coldly.
She ignores my icy glare, standing in front of me with a wide grin and twirling the ends of her hair. "I'm here to see my future mate before the dinner. Before our families gather to decide when our pack will merge as one under one power." She says the last part which is true but with an ominous vibe that makes me think that she's talking about something else other than what I think it is.
"Okay..."
Again, that feeling of something being completely wrong here nags at the back of my mind.
"I'm sure you're ecstatic... one of us is getting what they want." I prod further, watching every gesture she makes with her body to figure her out.
"Don't worry, Silas... eventually you will realize it's what you want as well."
"Why though? Why are you so desperate to be together...? Why me? It's clear I'd never love you, or is this all just your desperation for the throne? To be
Queen?"
A crack forms in her smile and the left end of her lips twitch again like before.
A purple glimmer flashes in her eyes, lasting longer than it had the first time and grabbing my attention before it fizzles back to blue.
Interesting.
"Because we were made for each other, because you and I are more alike than you think. Because I love you and no one else can understand what it means to be powerless and forced to kneel before others like you do. As for love... you will learn to do that eventually."
"I have a mate already." I point out to her incase she's forgotten again.
"Then you'll reject her and be with me." She says casually.
Now, I'm peeved, glaring at her harshly. I'd snap my jaws at her if I could. She sees my annoyed look and her face grows stoic.
"You fail to fully comprehend the situation, Silas. You have no choice in this... Just like you gave me no choice in anything. I will make you feel just as much as I have felt all this year stuck by your side, like your loyal bitch."
The contours of her face alone lets me know that my suspicions might just be right. Something is definitely off about Elena.
I can't put my finger on it but there's something different about her body movements, much like she's a different person.
"See you tomorrow." She says smiling again once she's successfully passed her information along that she originally intended to before turning around and skipping out of my room.
