                    : EGOISTIC IDIOT
FREYA'S POV:
No matter how hard I try to focus on it I can't seem to connect with Silas anymore adding more to my currently panicking state.
I can't help but think the worse especially with how bad he had sounded before I wasn't able to hear him again.
He's definitely not safe or okay... I can feel it in the pit of my gut.
Something extremely vile is going on.
And he expects me to just abandon it all and leave?
No fucking way I'm not.
I walk up ahead towards the exit seeing a few unconscious bodies in my way as I walk by before I'm just by the doors to freedom where the other three are casually waiting from me.
Xena stands up abruptly moving over to me.
"How was it? Were you able to link with him?" She asks expectantly and all their eyes look up to me as well, expecting some form of news
Good news.
I suck in my trembling breathe before I can speak.
"Elena's gone crazy and started some kind of usurp. Silas and his parents are currently captured... and the wizard I was talking about... somehow he's freed." I give a brief run down on the current situation.
They all tense immediately after my announcement.
Lucas steps forward doubting every single thing I've said.
"What do you mean usurp?" He asks.
"Like...treason?" Adam butts in as well
"I don't know he seemed distressed I could feel every mangled and twisted emotion through the link. He's desperate but resigned himself to his situation. He wants us to run away while we still can."
They all grow cold and silent in deep thoughts.
I can see it in their faces, the fear and uncertainty in there. Just a few days ago we were simply students attending a prestigious school getting over our strife and reconciling after the gossip.
Now, we're fresh prison breakouts and possibly the final line of hope for Silas. It's scary and terrify and possibly the best choice of option is to run away just like he had said.
This new power seeking to seize the throne won't go easy on anyone of us that that supported the previous rulers.
"I'm obviously not going to run away and leave Silas behind." Lucas speaks up now.
Xena steps closer to him wrapping her arm around his waist showing she would go where ever her mate goes.
"He does need a good ass whooping but he's still a friend and my Alpha." Adam adds.
I smile now feeling their resolve burning like an unquenchable flame. Running is not an option, ever.
"I'll tag along as well." I add raising my shoulders high proudly.
I wouldn't abandon my mate either. I'm done running away from everything simply because it seems too scary or I might be unable to do anything.
I want to try for the first time, put up a fight for what matters most to me.
But the look on their faces change once I make my own declaration.
"Uh...about that..." Adam begins.
I immediately know where this is going.
"Freya... Silas' last request he made to me was to keep you out of harm's way. If this threat is really as serious as he says, there's no way we're letting you come close."
"What?" I stare back dumbfounded.
"Lucas is right... I don't want to sound cruel or harsh but it is the truth. As much as you don't want to admit it but you're an Omega wolf, you could be a liability in the heat of battle. I don't want you to get hurt."
"No way guys... you can't possibly tell me to stay back and hide until your able to rescue everyone."
"It's just a safety precaution, in case we don't come back." Adam explains cryptically.
No freaking way, there's no way I will agree to seating down like a weakling and let them fight my battles.
"You guys really expect me to just go with the narrative that because I'm the weakest link I should stay back? This is my battle as well, I have a whole lot to lose too. I'm done running or hiding from things just because my status holds me back. So you either take me along with you or I find my own way there." I state firmly not backing down.
They look at me worried and then turn to each other but they should already know it by now.
I'm not going to back down no matter what they say and I'd tag along one way or another even if they tie me down to a fucking tree.
Adam sighs eventually after seconds of exchanging looks between themselves.
"Geez you're going to be the death of me. Fine, you can tag along... but only if you stick to the plan...
whatever plan we come up with."
"Yes!" I fist bump the air fiercely.
We take up to an hour of planning before we finally take off towards the Bloodmoon mansion.
The main theme of our plan is essentially stealth.
Finding a way to sneak into the most likely heavily guarded building and rescuing Silas and his parents successfully is our mission.
The main form of transportation is on Adam's back again while I carry his clothes for him so he doesn't have to sneak around butt naked.
We successfully evade most of the guard position outside, a very rare moment where I'm grateful for all the stealth classes we took in school during gym.
The two more guards by the back entrance, Xena takes them out by creeping up from behind and hitting a spot at the back of their necks hard enough without a single sound and Lucas catches their unconscious bodies before they fall onto the hard earth.
Perfect synchronization.
"Remember, they will most likely be held in the underground dungeon... Xena and Lucas will take the east wing. Freya and I follow the west." Adam whispers.
We all nod our heads in unison pulling open the small vent that lead to the underground dungeon.
I push aside every questioning thought as to why they have an underground dungeon under their freaking house and nod, saving the question for Silas later on. Without wasting more time we slide in through the back passage into a dimly lit hall way of the dungeon. Its surprisingly easily accessible from the back, maybe because Lucas and Adam know this place more than most people.
Xena and Lucas immediately begin walking down the East leaving Adam and I to go down the other direction.
"If we get close enough to Silas do you think you can pin point where exactly he might be?" He asks now striking up conversation as we go in deeper. "The connection is weak, but I could pull it off." I respond.
Adam makes it a whole point for me to walk closely behind him just in case we're suddenly ambushed, because if there really is a wizard there's no way he won't know that intruders have broken in sooner than expected.
I of course don't argue with it complying with walking right behind him equally wanting to be protected.
We move for minutes down this dimly lit path way silently, only the sound of cricket filling the void.
It goes on before he finally speaks. "So... Silas is you're mate."
Wow great choice of conversation to start with someone you were potentially about to start a relationship with while you're walking down a dark path to rescue the person they did end up with.
"Yeah... I know you said you weren't affected by it, but be honest... are you?"
"No, its fine... I'm more happy that you found that right person for you." he says musing to himself. I can already guess what his thinking from the look on his face, that wondering gaze of if he'd ever find someone like Xena and I had.
"I'm sure she's out there for you as well." I assure him.
Wherever she is, she might just me looking out for him as well.
"Yeah she is." He smiles to himself nodding. I know for a fact that whoever he ends up with, fated mate or not, she's going to make him the happiest guy ever.
He deserves that and much more.
"I do want to ask though... did it feel weird... you know, finding out that you're actually mates the whole time."
I actually think about it now.
How it had really felt for me finding out Silas is my mate... aside the fear that he might be disappointed? "Well... to be honest it felt like a piece of you never really thought was missing is suddenly staring right in front of you and you want nothing more than to have them all to yourself. It's like a primal desire. You just know it on instinct that you belong together." It had felt much more real than that but my words are unable to describe the true gravity of the feeling especially when I'm with Silas.
Everything just seems... right. Adam nods to himself though he seems like he's having a hard time understanding what I'm saying.
I chuckle softly watching him try to preserve my feeling even now.
Just then I feel it... I feel this nagging at my mind pulling me forward.
"Silas..." I feel his pulsing heart beat and a bit of the emotions cursing through his mind... a bit of his thoughts as well and he doesn't seem to be far away. My heart is already beating too fast excitedly. "I can feel him Adam... he's close." I say picking up the pace and eventually walking in front of him. I practically jog forward moving closer to the source of the sensation while Adam begs me to slow down just in case there's a trap waiting for us but I'm able to abide by reason anymore.
We make a turn and there's a shabby looking door....
and I just know he's behind it.
I run pushing it open without caution. "He's here." I say turning to Adam desperately.
The look I send him with my eyes alone sends a message he grasps immediately.
He nods standing still in the spot he's at.
"I'll guard the door." He says giving me the go ahead to walk in.
I nod stepping in and closing the door behind me.
It's a small room with series of cells having bars coated with silver. Just walking in already gives me nauseous from the amount of it around me. It's the perfect hell for a wolf... and the worse for Silas. I hear a groan echoing from slight distance away.
"Silas?" I call out to his name jogging down further up until I come across the last cell. Dressed up in a messed up tux with both hands changed up, he seats on the dirty floors without shoes leaning his head back against the wall while groaning in pain.
I can feel the pain more clearly now that he's right in front of me.
"Silas!" I exclaim moving closer.
It's only now that he finally notices me opening his eyes. They widened once they meet mine screaming desperation and need.
He quickly clamors up to the bars reaching out his hands to hold unto mine and I take them. He pulls me into a hug despite the silver bars between us searing his skin in the process, despite his chained hands.
I lean in close enough to rest my forehead against his and let out a deep breath of relief once I can touch him again. My wolf finally feels relaxed having him right by our side and I can just faintly feel his reciprocating the feeling before he pulls away to look at me. His face changes once the excitement wears off and it begins to dawn on him just what it means me being here. His look of worry turns into a frown. "I thought I told you to run away? What the fuck are you doing here?" He grunts glaring at me but in the most loving way possible.
I simply offer a smile. "Saving you of course." I look round me for anything sharp and hard and lucky enough I find a small stone by the corner.
I pick it up and begin slashing it across the padlock bolting his cell shut.
"What part of stay away didn't you understand, or do you just actively choose to be stubborn." He doesn't seize chiding me once he's gotten over the euphoric moment of reuniting again. "You should have known I wouldn't just leave you alone, not after how desperate you sounded." I say.
A few more clicks and the padlock shatters under the force.
Another skill I seem to have acquired recently which really hasn't been making sense. I'm definitely sure I wasn't able to do this a weak ago.
"This isn't a game Freya... this is life and death." He chided louder realizing that I'm not even listening to him as much as he wants me to.
I pull open the metal gates glaring right back at him.
"Oh, so you knew that and chose to sacrifice yourself for some messed up cause." I say stepping closer to him.
"Making sure you get out alive isn't a messed up cause. Protecting my mate the only way I knew how isn't a messed up cause. I can't lose you." he says the last part as though he's already been defeated and there's no hope at all.
"And you think I can? You really thought that I would run away when you need me the most and have some happy ending somewhere far away while you're forced to mate with some psycho bitch or worse of all executed?" I call out his bullshit and he avoids my eyes.
"Even if it means you finding a happy ending somewhere else, then yes. I hoped that you would."
He confesses.
I can't help being a sharp shard of hurt piercing right though my heart.
"You're such a selfish egotistic idiot. No one told you to sacrifice anything! You don't get to decide what I want for myself. You're my happy ending, okay, so nothing else matters... I'm going to stay and fight for that, so shut up and let me help you get out of here."
