                    : CRAVE ME
FREYA'S POV:
The solstice festival is riddled with games of different categories. Students compete to win and winners are honored by the Alpha king.
It's the highest honor one can get as a student and it opens bright possibilities for the future. The various categories included; archery, spear throwing, sparring and tug of war, all of which Xena was participating in - except spear throwing.
I still don't know why and no matter how hard I have tried to pry the information from her, she was adamant about keeping me in the dark, which resulted in more curiosity of course.
The first category to begin is archery. I had hoped it would be a long while before I set my eyes on another bow and arrow again but here I am.
The participants line up with their gear, ready to begin. From my spot, I see Xena in her attire, hair tied up and looking all badass with her bow. She pulls off the whole Artemis look effortlessly.
I want to scream her name out but my whole judge act prevents me from even showing a hint of partiality to either one of them, which is a total letdown and takes away all the fun of watching the game.
The whistle blows and they shoot their arrows.
"Who are you rooting for?" He leans over to me, whispering too close to my ear.
"You are aware we're the only ones up here, right? You don't have to whisper." I put a little more distance between us.
"Maybe I just like being close." He says.
"Any closer and you'd be giving me a head butt," I state matter of factly.
"I can make that work as well." He winks at me.
"Back it up, big boy." I push him away, finally putting enough distance between the both of us.
He's ceaseless in trying to get with me. I should find it exasperating, I definitely should, yet I find myself chuckling at his somewhat desperation and actually wanting to see what his next shot would look like.
It's weird how a month ago I was desperately trying to get away from him.
I turn my focus on the game and away from Silas again. The crowd goes wild once Xena emerges as the winner.
I smile with pride, watching her raise her bow in victory from the first round.
She's really amazing in everything; sports, beauty. She's perfect and it's weird how she isn't the center of popularity. Yet Elena, with nothing else to offer besides her beauty, runs the school.
In honesty, a small part of me is envious of everything she's capable of.
"What are you thinking about so intensely?" Silas pulls me out of my deep thoughts again. Staring at me a little too intensely.
"Oh, it's nothing." I turn my face away, trying to hide myself. "Xena is so awesome, isn't she? She's probably going to win this round."
He looks at her briefly, then back at me.
"Should I be bothered?"
"What's there to be bothered about?"
He stares at me silently for a while, like he's trying to figure something out.
Or maybe there is something on my face, but it feels awkward.
"I intend on making you mine of course."
There's a smug smile on his lips like I'm some sort of prize to him but I'm not bothered by it strangely.
I try to turn away but he gently holds my face to face him once more, forcing me to look straight into his eyes in a domineering manner.
Again I should be annoyed by this, his egotistic behavior like I shouldn't stare at anything else or anyone else but him.
But I'm not. In actuality, I don't know what exactly I'm feeling.
"Someday you will be mine. Every part of you belonging to me; your body, your mind, your heart will crave every bit of me my touch, my lips, my breath, unraveling your very existence for me only. I will have you for myself, Freya."
It sounds ominous enough but I'm frozen in place, unable to look away from the silver glow of his eyes.
He looks from mine to my lips and the distance between us slowly decreases. He's leaning in to kiss me painfully slowly.
I should turn away or push him but I don't. My wolf purrs, giving into him.
"I'd like to see you try." I don't know what I'm saying but the words instinctively leave my lips.
He growls deeply in a sultry manner, showing that he likes the challenge.
Great, I just flirted back with the Alpha prince.
Our lips are about to touch when the door behind us pulls open and he pauses but doesn't pull away.
His eyes remain fixed on my lips for awhile, despite the third party still present. He stays for a second longer before pulling away again.
I finally remember to breathe once he's away.
"Alpha..." The intruder bows respectfully. "...you're needed."
Silas nods his head curtly. His demeanor is more serious compared to how it was a few seconds ago when he was up in my personal space and trying to kiss me...
While I was letting him grow closer...
"I'll be back." He turns to me and I nod simply.
I wait till they both leave before I sigh out loud. My heart is still beating at a rushed pace.
Every moment I spend with him, I lose more of my reasoning and he wasn't making things better for me with all his flirting.
And what had he meant by making me his?
I wonder how many times he had repeated those same words to his past flings and if they had even meant anything.
I know they hadn't, yet my heart churned painfully at the thought.
Get a grip of yourself, Freya.
I simply needed to be close to him and humor all his advances; I shouldn't fall for any of them - after all, he's taken already.
He walks back in again, taking his seat next to me.
"Where were we?" He sneers playfully again, confirming all my fears.
This is just a game to him.
I turn the other way, not wanting to fall for the trickery of his eyes again.
"We were watching the game," I responded coldly.
He says nothing, simply watching me and catching on to my shift in moods. I hate how easily I let him affect me.
Time passes awfully slowly now and the final segment for archery rolls in.
Xena stands against some other guy just as good. They're against a target, 500 meters away. The mark rotates at a significant speed that makes it impossible to actually make the shot and hit the bullseye. The whistle blows and her opponent takes the first shot. It flies across the pitch to the target but only misses the mark by a few centimeters. Xena steps forward and suddenly, I'm at the edge of my seat. The arena grows extremely quiet. I can feel everyone's anticipation as strong as mine.
She shoots her arrow and it soars through the air across the field and strikes the target dead on.
The crowd celebration echoes loudly around the arena. I jump to my feet, overwhelmed by excitement. Screw anyone and their judgmental stares. I wave excitedly, screaming her name.
Silas watches me casually and I feel his cold gaze burning into me.
"What?" I ask, unable to ignore it anymore.
"Nothing." He looks away and back to Xena.
His face is blank and uninterested. Another round of awkward silence passes.
"Did you see that? She hit the target right on the mark."
"I know someone who can pull that off with both eyes closed."
I'm a bit annoyed by his nonchalance. He's obviously belittling her skills.
I'm not surprised, however, he pays no mind to anything that has no interest to him.
My mind falls back to all the attention I've received from him, clearly because of his interest in me. But for how long, I wonder.
"If given the opportunity, I'm sure she could beat this person." I try to defend Xena at least. "That's impossible."
"How do you know that? You weren't even paying attention to her skills."
"Because I know he taught her half of what she knows."
His words grasp my attention now and I turn fully to him.
"I don't believe you. If there was really a person like that, Xena would have told me." I was sure of it.
It seemed too important for her to leave out in a conversation and we'd had so many. "And yet you don't know, do you?" He teases, enjoying watching me battle with so much confusion.
I find it harder to believe him.
"Why wouldn't she tell me?"
"Because they dated."
"What?"
"Yeah. They dated."
"This guy... Who is he?"
I find it unbelievable and I don't want to believe them, yet a part of me can't deny the possibilities of truth behind each word he speaks. He smirks, leaning back into his seat. His next words leave me in further shock.
"Lucas."
