SILAS' POV:
"I don't know. I never texted her."
Suddenly, my wolf is on high alert and I'm standing on my feet. I can't remain still. I'm overwhelmed with emotions that rattle me too much.
"What do you mean you didn't text her?" I growl lowly.
Something's not right. My gut speaks louder now. My gut was never wrong.
"I haven't been with my phone all morning. It's been missing from my bag." She's shivering now from the menacing pressure of my Alpha dominance, compelling her to tell me everything she knows.
I've heard it's a painful feeling, almost like suffocation. I uncontrollably unleash it, forcing her to bow her head and avoid my eyes while she trembles.
Freya...
Where the hell is she?
Always getting into trouble the moment I look away. I shouldn't have let her go alone, no matter how insistent she had been on going alone.
I should have atleast sent someone with her, knowing she's a walking trouble magnet.
"Fuck!" I slam my fist against the wall, forming a huge fist-shaped dent against it with cracks.
She jumps in front of me, putting a little distance between us.
I waste no time heading for the door and pulling it open too hard, it rips from the wall.
"Where are you going?" She calls to me as I make my way out of the booth.
"None of your business." I snap.
"I'm coming with you." She responds firmly, running up to my side.
Despite the threatening look I pass at her, she stands. her ground, staring fearlessly to face me.
"You're staying here."
"No, she's my friend."
"And it's your fault she's currently missing."
She remains silent, not daring to utter another word as her head hangs low, heavy with guilt.
I ignore her, stalking down the hallway and wanting to leave the arena. I spot Adam ahead, talking to a group of girls and laughing flirtatiously.
As I approach them the laughing seizes and everyone tenses up in my presence.
I ignore everyone else.
"Adam. Freya's missing."
"What?" His relaxed form becomes tensed and rigid, clearly apprehensive and unnaturally bothered for her.
I don't know why but it annoys me by how much he seems to be affected by the news.
"How do you know she's not just avoiding you?" He asks, still doubting me.
I growl at his impudence, wanting to bite back.
"Someone took my phone and texted her to meet them someplace."
Freya's friend shows up again behind me, narrating the whole ordeal in seconds which infuriates me further.
I don't want her following me for whatever reason. I didn't have time to babysit anyone while I search for her.
"I thought I told you to stay back." I work my dominance on her, increasing its intensity.
Basically, I'm forcing her to stand down.
She whimpers but doesn't stand back despite it.
It's impressive but now's not the time to be stubborn. "I'm not going back. She's important to me as well."
I snort at her comment, finding it almost comical.
"You should have thought about that when you decided not to tell your friend about your scandalous secrets with my Zeta."
"It wasn't your secret to tell, Silas." She snaps back with as much intensity.
"Oh, please. Even if I hadn't said anything, she would have eventually heard about it somewhere else. And what did you do to her when she inquired about it, huh? Shut her out, pushing her to the point of blindly following some mysterious texts just to talk to you."
I don't know why I'm so affected. My blood boils hotter as I recall who really is at fault.
I'm filled with the overwhelming need to protect
Freya, to keep her safe and the guilt for not being able to do that much.
You win, Freya; you've successfully taken over my senses.
I'm feeling emotions that are foreign to me; fear and uncertainty for the first time.
Her lower lip quivers like she wants to cry but she's holding it back. I don't care but she's Freya's friend and I shouldn't hurt her.
"Dammit." I look away from her, easing the pressure of my aura on her.
"Don't worry, Xena. We're going to find her." Adam comforts the second my eyes are turned away from them.
There was no time to point fingers and blame anyone right now.
"Adam find Lucas and form different search groups. Tear down the entire school grounds if you have to, but find her."
Two freaking hours later, two painfully fruitless hours later. I've turned the entire school around for you and yet I can't find you.
Traces of your scent lingers in the hallway yet disappear abruptly, but no sign of you. Where are you, Freya?
Every passing minute, I grow tenser. I had scouted through the forest, up to the borders yet there was no sign of her.
No one had seen her leave school grounds, so she still had to be within the school halls, but where?
I pace back and forth just by her locker in the deserted hallway - the first place we had met, hoping that she'd just turn up from nowhere, joking about how she slept off somewhere and didn't know she had been deemed lost.
She'd probably laugh at how crazy I was being right now. I probably would if I were her.
She was supposed to be just a bet and yet, she affected me in a way no one ever could.
I suddenly feel petite hands wrap around my waist and caress my chest, slowly sliding higher.
I stop her hand before she reaches my neck and turn to her, in no mood for her games. "Elena, what are you doing here?" I'm peeved by even the smile on her lips right now as I turn to her.
I noticed her minion close as always. She pouts like a child, wanting attention from me but
I can't give her even a shred of what she needs - not when Freya is somewhere, probably hurt.
"Babe..." She reaches out to touch my cheeks but I lean away from her, avoiding her gaze.
In a better mood, I would be able to tolerate the crawling on my skin from her touch.
"What is it?" I respond coldly, hoping she gets the message.
She frowns, dropping her cute act and seeing as I'm not buying into it.
"Stop deflecting my touch."
"Now is not the time, Elena. I'm busy."
"What is more important than me?"
I want to tell that there were a lot of things much more important, a whole list of things, but much more is at stake in our relationship is not maintained. I bite my tongue and give her no response. She grabs ahold of my hand and I feel it once our skin touch. A feeling of bugs crawling up my arms. It's unsettling in the worst way.
It feels so wrong being held this way but I don't push her away this time.
"I miss you, Silas. You've been so strange since she came." She mutters quietly to me.
I say nothing. I can't deny it either. Everything has been different since that Monday morning our eyes first met.
"Silas, if she doesn't show up again, can I be your partner for the festival as always?" She whispers lowly but enough for me to hear her cynical words.
I don't know what takes hold of me but I pick her up too quickly and slam her against the lockers, controlled by the unsettling rage of my wolf. He struggles to surface against my mental restraints.
She winces in pain and there's a dent in the lockers but I don't care - my wolf doesn't care either. "Are you the one who took her?" It's not just my voice speaking now, it's two in one; mine and the even more menacing voice of my wolf taking over by force.
"Where did you keep her? Tell me." I growl inhumanely, barring my fangs at her.
She remains silent, so I shake her again, slamming her against the locker once more. "Silas, you're hurting me." She uses a meek voice to speak but I'm not falling for it one bit. "Where is Freya, Elena? Tell me right now or I'll do more than hurt you."
She struggles against my hold but it's futile. Alpha or not, she's nothing against my superiority as the Alpha prince.
I dig my claws further into her shoulder, forcing her to speak but she whimpers only. If she wasn't going to talk, I have more ways to torture it out of her.
"Wait!"
Her little pet rat finally speaks up after standing there for minutes silently.
She's close to tears scared for her friend and overpowered by the deadly dominant aura pouring out of me in torrents. Her lips tremble as she struggles to breathe.
She looks at me, scared shitless and pleading with her eyes. I immediately know that she knows something.
In seconds, I'm letting Elena go and grabbing onto the little rat in a choke and lifting her up the floor with a single hand.
Elena gasps for air beside me while her friend Lila cries now.
"Where is she?" My fingers press against her windpipe slowly but giving enough room for words to leave her mouth.
"T-The school basement... She's in the school basement. I-II locked h-her in the tot-ure ro-room."
She forces out.
I'm tempted to snap her fragile neck like a twig between my fingers and end her insignificant life. My wolf is seething begging to be let out and shred her to pieces but I hold back. I push my inhumane urge away and toss her body aside.
"Take me to her."
