: NEW STUDENT
FREYA'S POV:
We cry for seconds that feel like an eternity and at the last minute, I don't want to let go.
I'm scared that when the moment ends, I will be alone again. It's weird but the thought hunts me.
However, I release her when she gently eases herself away to look at me.
"You have me okay?"
I nod, sniffling.
"You can tell me anything. I won't judge, even if you secretly do like Silas."
I chuckle at her persistence, but still nod.
"I don't have a crush on him though." I say but my wolf disagrees.
"Good. Promise you will stay away from him. He's more trouble than it's worth."
Now, I remain still and quiet, looking the other way.
"Promise?" She pushes now.
"I can't."
"What do you mean you can't? He's the reason your life is in shambles right now, yet you won't stay away?"
"I wish I could."
I wish it was that simple.
I really did wish I could forget him, delete him from my life, and start afresh and find happiness somehow.
No matter how much he irked me and made me so crazy, how much I craved yet despised his very existence, I just knew that somehow, I couldn't stay away.
Even if I could, I needed him to keep my deal with the wizard; to save my neck.
"You know, when you say things like this, it does sound like you do have something for him."
"I wish I could explain it."
"Then what are you going to do about his dad? From what I can understand, he's a psycho. He's not going to let you get close to Silas."
"I don't know."
"And you literally chased him away days ago. He's probably not going to want anything to do with you anyway."
"I know that."
"Like, he seems totally over your existence. Unaffected by your absence."
I remain silent, forcing a smile, but she reads through the façade.
"Oops, I'm making things worst again, aren't I?" She worries again, leaning closer to me.
I shake my head, still smiling.
"What do you mean?" I prod just a bit.
"Well, since you left, things have sort of gone back to what they were before you came. Girls cowering before the terrifying Elena. Silas following her around like they're soul mates."
She's saying the same thing as Adam. He really hadn't asked of me or wondered where I had been.
Too busy living his best life.
It stings again, knowing just how much sleep I lose over him while he sleeps peacefully.
I unconsciously grind my teeth together and Xena sees this.
"Sorry." She apologizes again.
"No, it's fine. I'll just find some way, I guess."
Some way that I can't figure out right now.
It's not like I can walk up to him in school and be like ' Hey'. My pride won't let me, not after all those things
I said to him.
It's understandable if he doesn't care about where
I'm at.
"Well, whatever it is, I will support you and kick ass on the way as well."
She raises her shoulders a bit, priding herself with the little role of bodyguard she's somehow awarded herself with.
I chuckle at her cute disposition right now and tug softly at her cheeks whilst patting her hair.
She purrs like a cat, sighing happily.
We spent the rest of our evening nursing the other's bruises. I applied ointment on her knuckles and wrapped them in bandages.
She did the same for my bruised cheek and toes.
The bonding session eventually ends with some N*** **x and snacks.
The next day rolls in faster than I hoped for. The rising of the early morning sun is as depressing as always.
But I decide to bathe today and detangle my knotted hair and actually put on some nice-looking clothes and some body spray.
My steps on the way to class feel way lighter than ever and I'm not so dreary today.
I guess that thing about a problem shared being partially solved wasn't completely bull.
I mean, it wasn't close to being solved but I felt more at ease being able to lean on someone.
I walk to the ever chaotic class and take my seat at my usual spot, now organizing my stationary and jotter on the table.
"Hey, Freya."
Norman shows up from behind me, suddenly sitting right on my desk with one of his butt cheeks pressing hard on my book, creasing the corners.
I seethe from just looking at it, but remind myself that it's a new day.
"You look pretty today."
"Hey." I drawl emotionlessly, prying the damaged book from beneath.
I'm tugging hard enough but he ignores that and focuses on whatever he wants to focus on.
"Tell me, this new look of yours... is it all just to gain my attention?"
I pause from pure shock and disgust, looking up at him.
"Excuse me?"
"It's okay, it's okay. You're surprised I figured it out, right? I just want to let you know that I fancy you as well." His smug smile is enough to make me barf my breakfast.
For some reason, he's delusional and thinks he's the prettiest guy in Crescent Moon high.
Boy, is he wrong.
It's obvious he hasn't stepped out and really mingled with more people at school or met the Alpha prince and his gang of criminally good-looking guys. I wouldn't blame him if he hadn't though.
"I don't have a single bone that is fondly inclined towards you, Norman."
"Sugar, don't be shy now. You can speak your mind freely." He leans closer to me, trying to be...sexy?
I'm not entirely sure.
I glare back as a response, placing a finger on his forehead and pushing his head away from my personal space.
"You wish I was shy. I don't like you, Norman." I say with a much more stern voice now and a straight face.
He smiles instead, winking at me like there's some kind of an inside joke between us.
Then, he leans away from me and my table before walking away as mysteriously as he had come.
I sigh, simply too tired to stress myself further. I'd much rather let him think what he wants to.
A minute and more pass and there is a slight knock on the class door.
The class grows silent and our eyes turn to the direction of the sound, expecting to see the assigned teacher for the period.
But a different person stands by the door. The gym teacher looks over the now silent class, assessing everyone before her eyes fall on me.
She maintains eye contact, beckoning me towards her. I rise from my seat, following her out of the class. "There's a new student that was transferred to the program recently." She begins saying as I follow closely behind quietly.
A few of my nerves relax, knowing I wasn't in any sort of trouble.
"I need you to help him fit in, seeing as you are our brightest."
I nod, simply offering a small smile.
I begin wondering just who this student is. It's very uncommon for a student to be assigned to the program in the middle of a school session.
I thought I was the only special case.
"May I ask why this particular student is just joining?"
"It's funny, actually. He requested to be transferred, saying the higher classes were too tough on him to keep up. I myself didn't expect that coming from such a person from a prestigious family."
I nod.
So, he's from a family influential enough for the school to just toss him where he wants because he's too lazy to study hard.
Interesting.
We turn into a corner and enter the counselor's office where this mysterious student I would be escorting resides.
"Oh, Freya, you're here!" The school counselor welcomes me with a smile which I return respectfully.
She gestures to the male student right infront of her now.
"This is who you would be assisting for the first few weeks."
He turns around and my jaws drop to the ground instantly.
It's impossible, unbelievable, and yet, there he was, right in front of me; the bloody Alpha prince, Silas Bloodmoon.
