                    : DIFFERENT MAN
FREYA'S POV:
He smiles back at me widely, his familiar grin lights up his face that had seemed so gloomy the last time we spoke.
A wide array of emotions engulfs me all at once, but shock carries most of the weight.
"He's a special case, so we need you to help him feel comfortable." The school counselor adds sweetly.
He was most definitely a special case for sure. This answers so many questions.
Ofcourse, it would be Silas.
Only the Alpha king's authority is high enough for a student to easily change programs just 'cause they were struggling a bit in school.
The only question I want to ask is how he was able to do it. I know for a fact King Darius wouldn't like the idea of his son being in here.
I simply nod, my words failing me.
They let us finally leave the office after finalizing a few things in his transfer documents.
The air is silent between us as we walk towards class now.
Like pin drop silence, which is very unusual for typical Silas that can't seem to shut up long enough.
The silence only triggers my nerves more and my already speeding heart pulse picks up even faster.
A lot of things run through my mind all at once. I don't even know what to say. His silence just makes this whole thing worse.
I'm painfully aware of his presence behind me. It's like I haven't seen him in weeks and suddenly, I'm extra sensitive to him.
My body is on high alert, listening to each step he takes behind me. I can't help but feel on edge.
Really, how did he pull this shit off?
"Hey, Freya." He suddenly calls my attention to him.
I jump, suddenly feeling his hot breath passing over the skin of my neck, enlisting goose bumps quickly.
I don't know when he had closed the distance between us, but I feel the heat of his body on my back.
"What the-" I turn to him, swiftly stumbling backward.
"Did I startle you?" He smirks playfully, crouching down to my level so his face invades my personal space.
It's been so long, too long since I had met those beautiful silver eyes glistening with a hypnotic light, pulling me deeper into them.
Only this time, my eyes move to his peach pink lips caught in a pleased grin all on their own.
"Fright isn't the kind of emotion I was expecting from you once we met again." His voice grows low and deep.
"W-what are you talking about?" I ask, forcing my eyes to remain on his.
He looks at me simply, his smile never fading as he looks over my face now, stopping at my lips.
My breath suddenly clogs up in my throat.
"Did you miss me, Freya?"
I don't know what to say. It's like I'm caught in a trance that jumbles up my thoughts and messes with my ability to think up anything sane.
With only a nudge forward, our lips will surely touch and I can't stop thinking about that.
"Did you?" He repeats his question again, taunting me with a light chuckle.
Pull yourself together!
I take a deep breath, breaking free from whatever is over me, and stare back at him more seriously. "No." I answer without a second thought, not giving him the satisfaction of what he really wants from me.
He chuckles again from my response, suddenly pulling away and adding more distance between us.
In seconds, he's more than away from my personal space, a few steps away actually.
My heart bites a bit from his action. I find myself missing his scent that had engulfed me seconds ago.
"Lead the way." He gestures towards the direction we had been walking in.
Acting as though we hadn't just had a somewhat mini moment seconds ago. Again, I'm annoyed by this for some reason.
I scoff, turning away from him and walking while he follows. He certainly is acting much more differently than I am used to.
We continue to walk in more silence and this time, I stomp my feet in annoyance.
I can hear him chuckling behind me, probably entertaining himself at my expense.
Asshole.
We make it to my class that's still as lively as ever.
Clearly, the teacher never came, turning it into a somewhat free period for everyone.
"Hey, Freya!" Norman calls out to me once I step into the class again.
I sigh, too exhausted to handle him again as he steps even closer to me with that annoying grin on his face.
"Where have you been?"
"I've been-"
"The guys and I want to invite you for a hangout." He cuts me off before I can bother to answer the first question, steering off my bad mood into something worse than ever.
I make the move to put him in his place again, but he interrupts as always.
"This is your chance to prove to me just how serious you are in this relationship."
"What?"
I'm taken aback by the shit spilling from his lips right now.
"Don't mess it up, this is your only chance."
"Her chance to do what exactly?"
Silas is directly behind me again. Now, my head just barely reaches Norman's shoulders but Silas is a good head taller than him, so he towers over the both of us.
He hunches his shoulders a bit, bending to Norman's height in a way that taunts him and in the process, covers me with his presence.
His body heat envelops me even though we're barely touching and his dominating aura quickly seeps out of him like thick black smoke.
The entire class, ignorant to Silas' presence, grows quiet, all freezing in their spot and turning to the three of us.
Norman as well freezes in terror, realizing who is standing right behind me.
"Uh... Uhm." He fumbles over his words.
"You mentioned something about a relationship. I'm actually extremely curious "Uh-h." He stutters again.
now."
"Is this what you've been doing all this time, Freya?
Playing girlfriend with this mutt?"
The once confident and obnoxious Norman trembles violently, now unable to even mutter another word as confidently as he always had.
For the first time, I actually feel pity for him. Any more and I was sure he would piss his pants.
I turn to Silas, now pushing him gently so I can actually face him properly.
"I wasn't playing anything. It was just a joke, Silas."
He looks down at me, now prying his eyes away from
Norman. His terrorizing aura slowly fades to its usual measure now.
"Ah, you're close enough with him to joke about that now, I see. You really didn't miss me, Freya, seeing as you were too busy making so many friends."
Despite the pained tempo in his voice, he smiles at me, making me more confused.
I can't discern if he's mad about it or if he's impressed that I can actually make friends in my situation.
Whatever it is, I can't help feeling irked about it
How can he so easily joke about missing him or making friends? Like he cared about me these past days.
"You're one to talk. You seemed to be having the time of your life while I was gone. Did you even notice that
I wasn't in class anymore? Bet you didn't!" I snap back harshly, now breathing heavily.
His smile fades quickly and he stares back at me all too seriously.
The intensity in his gaze weighs on me and suddenly,
I feel guilty and stupid for even saying what I said. I was the one that asked him to leave me alone and said all those awful shit about him to his face, yet I was lashing my frustration out on him for honoring my wishes.
"Silas..." I try to apologize, but he looks away from me suddenly.
His gaze fixes on the entire class now, watching us earnestly like some soap opera.
"Get out." He commands sternly. Everyone in class rushes out immediately without a second to waste, leaving only the both of us standing in the now quiet and empty class.
"Silas..." I reach up, holding onto his shirt, unable to meet his eyes. "Look, I didn't mean what I said." He remains silent.
I can understand if he's pissed with me, too pissed to respond. He doesn't owe me anything after all.
His finger suddenly touches my chin, picking up my face to look at him properly. His smile is still gone and emotions swirl within his eyes and among them, blazing flames.
"Silas?"
"Tell me, Freya... What exactly have you been up to? Don't lie to me."
He's definitely pissed for sure.
"Silas, I..."
He swoops down to my level again, his face just a breath away from mine. I forget to breathe instantly, my blood pulsing in my ears. With a low husky voice, he whispers to me.
"I'm waiting."
