                    : BABE
FREYA'S POV:
His lips just barely touch mine and I feel the warmth of his exhaled breath on my face. Again my eyes move to his lips against my will.
I can't look away no matter how much I resist whatever hold he has over me.
"What exactly have you been up to?"
"Nothing. Ignore what Norman said."
"Norman? You're already on a first name basis?" His frown deepens.
"He's a classmate. I'm supposed to know his name, Silas."
"No, you're not." He responds sternly now, his eyes growing colder yet his voice retains the low husky tone.
My heart twists within me. My wolf whines in pain just from the expression on his face.
I momentarily forget every single feeling of anger and resentment within me, letting myself drown deeper within him.
He sighs painfully now.
"You've been a bad girl, Freya, hiding from me for this long."
I want to tell him I haven't really been hiding from him, just in a different location. But I remain silent, only watching the crease on his forehead.
"Are you...angry?" I ask breathlessly.
He chuckles now, amusement glinting in his eyes.
He slowly looks down to my lips and grips onto my hips suddenly.
I gasp from the sudden movement as he pulls me into him.
"Am I angry?" He leans into my ears, whispering the words.
Then letting his tongue lightly graze against the skin on them, drawing a soft moan from my lips.
I lean into him this time, wanting more. I don't know what it is but my body craves it.
He faces me again, coming close enough that the tips of our noses just touch only lightly.
"I'm much more than that. I'm livid."
He leans into my lips now and on instinct, I close my eyes and pucker my lips expectantly, waiting for his lips to meet mine for the first time in a long time.
Seconds pass and they never touch.
I open my eyes again and he's a good distance from me just like he had been in the hallway. The same amused smile playing on his lips.
I blush hard, feeling instantly embarrassed now.
"Bad girls are punished, Freya." He begins again. " I'm not going to give you what you want till you ask for it."
For some reason, I feel hurt, my chest erupts in pains, and my wolf is even more dejected than I am.
The pain is almost physical.
I get the impression that he doesn't want to touch me, and the thought only drives me crazy.
He says nothing more, taking a seat as his and staring off at something else that isn't me.
Hours into our next class, the teacher talks enthusiastically about whatever the topic he's brought to discuss.
My mind is far from whatever he's saying. Instead, my thoughts and my attention all fall on Silas.
I turn to face him again for the fifth time since class began, trying to figure him out.
Now free from his hypnosis, my mind can think clearly again, yet he's all I can muster at this moment.
Silas is acting differently from the Silas I know. There's just a slight difference, but I know something is off with him.
Just feeling that alone makes it impossible for me to look away. I want to have a proper conversation with him but there haven't been any more chances with classes and all.
He suddenly turns to me and smiles, waving from his seat a good distance away. Seeing I've been caught by him, I look away quickly.
Once the school bell rings and everyone begins to leave, I wait a bit till the class is all but empty before approaching him again. Packing my things and walked up to the table.
He sits casually, making no move to stand from his seat.
"How did you get here?" I begin interrogation before
I get distracted again.
He looks up at me with a laid-back expression.
"I walked." He responds dryly.
I groan in frustration.
"No. I mean how did you get into this program, dim wit."
"Ah... I missed the sweet sound of your insults."
I roll my eyes now from his statement.
"You're annoying as ever."
"I try." He winks at me
"Did you tell anyone you were transferring?"
I've gotten over the shock of everything now and I try to focus on just how serious the situation is. My only fear right now is King Darius figuring out the fact that Silas switched over to my side as well.
If he, for any reason, told Elena before he made his decision, there's no way she wouldn't snitch to him. Anything to keep Silas away from me.
"What's it to you?"
"Silas, this is serious. Why did you switch over to the program?"
He smiles, regardless of how frustrated I am.
"That's because I'm struggling in school." "Bullshit. I saw your last test scores. You barely pay attention in class, yet you score nothing less than seventy percent."
"I need an A+ in all my subjects to graduate as the Alpha prince."
"What the... Now, you're making shit up."
He shrugs. "Are you here to pick me up for lunch?"
I glare at his playful attitude. If only he knew just how serious the situation was, just how much was hanging on all this, he wouldn't joke about it.
I sigh, rubbing my temples in frustration. There was no way I am going to let myself be seen with Silas when the King's spies are still out there monitoring me.
Yet, I still needed to stick with this idiot to appease that Wizard.
Damn.
I wasn't given the chance to plan all this shit before he drops this bomb on me.
"You can eat by yourself," I answer finally.
"You're not going to escort me to the cafeteria?"
"I'm not your escort, Silas. You know very well you don't need a guide to help you adjust to the curriculum as well. You're smart enough to figure that out yourself." I point out crudely.
He frowns again at my response.
I know I don't need to be rude, I can just avoid him.
Yet, a part of me is just pissed for some reason. Maybe it's the fact that he suddenly decides he has my time and shows up out of nowhere.
All this while, he's been so busy with his amazing life, cuddling up with Elena and he dares to pop up now, talking about punishments and affection, confusing me further, playing with me like a toy.
Just like he always has and probably always will.
Maybe nothing had really changed about him and I was just being hopeful for nothing.
I turn to leave, but he grips my wrist suddenly.
"You going to seat with that Norman guy?" "Are you jealous?"
He scoffs. "Why would I be jealous of that worm?" "Whatever, Silas."
I pull my hand away from his grip, walking out of class.
Once I'm a good distance away, I stop in my steps, pulling on my hair. Just what the hell am I caught up in right now?
I've since steered away from the mundane Alpha female life I had hoped for myself. Worse is, there's no going back now.
I need to stay away from Silas till I somehow figure out a way to kill two birds with one stone.
If only he'd just behave himself and lay low while he's here. "Well, if it isn't Freya."
I turn to face a pissed-off Norman glaring at me. He stalks to me slowly, stopping right in front of me and folding his hands.
I know for a fact that he's been waiting here for me.
It's an obvious Norman move. "What was that about?"
I roll my eyes at this prick head.
I expected this reaction from him after Silas put him in his place.
His pride was spat on and he would seek revenge on a seemingly weaker target, ofcourse.
"If you're so pissed about what happened, go sort it out with him yourself." I retort.
"Don't you think you're being too cocky right now?" "Wow...have you looked in the mirror recently?" "I have actually." He smiles, caressing the stubble on his chin, totally missing the point of what I'm saying. He just never ceases to amaze me.
"What do you say about that hangout I asked about earlier? You never gave a response." The audacity of this coward, trying to ask me out now that Silas is nowhere to be seen irks me. There's nothing more unattractive than a guy almost pissing his pants in the face of a larger threat.
"No, thanks." "C'mon, babe."
"She said 'no, thanks'...babe."
Silas again shows up just from behind me, gripping my waist and pressing me tightly to his side. Norman's confidence drains away in seconds. He takes a step back and then another before he turns around, dashing down the hallways.
It's a wonder that he doesn't shriek like a little girl
Pathetic.
"What the hell, Silas?" I groan now. "You're not getting rid of me so easily..." He smiles down at me.
I match his look with a scowl.
"We'll see about that."
