FREYA'S POV:
My new discovery since coming to school today is my inability to focus on basically everything and I blame it on the fact that I can feel his eyes burning into me every now and then.
From the first, second and now the third period, I'm painfully aware of his gaze that lingers on the back of my head.
I don't dare stare back though.
I don't know why but I have a feeling I would start something I'm unable to handle.
His gaze on me feels like a warm breeze, dancing on the surface of my neck and blowing across my entire naked body.
Somehow, I can't describe it without sexualizing everything about him.
For some reason every time I close my eyes, his lips pop into my mind, the sleepy look in his eyes when he invades my personal space, the last time he almost kissed me and didn't eventually.
I catch myself nibbling on my lower lip and shake my head.
I have somehow developed an unhealthy obsession with Silas' lips and I blame it simply on the previous sleepless nights caused by his crazy Dad and the Wizard.
That has to be the reason.
Besides that, there was no way I'd willing daydream of kissing him.
The bell rings and class ends.
I pick up my books quickly on instinct, wanting to get away as soon as possible before he can approach me. But from my side eye, I see him.
He casually passes by like I don't even exist.
All through class, this dude had been boring holes into the back of my head with his eyes and suddenly, he's uninterested in being the bane of my existence today...
This feels weird.
Either the past 6 hours were my imagination or he was trying to play some mind games with me; that was definitely it.
His pride is hurt that I've rejected him enough times, so now, he's trying to lure me in with reverse psychology.
But it wouldn't work obviously because I felt nothing for him, and I wasn't a child.
And this would be good for me.
He leaves the class and in seconds, the girls by my right suddenly begin gushing out loud right next to me, throwing words like he's so charming and I'm in love around, cooing and worshipping him.
The very same girls that almost pissed their pants yesterday and were too scared to drool all over him in his presence.
"Oh, my god! He drips in bad boy energy." The first girl screeches like a fan girl.
"It's so sexy! I want to drown myself in it." The second adds
"I wouldn't mind drowning for a piece of that." The third purrs like a horny cat and I roll my eyes.
If only they knew what he was really like, or that he had a psycho girlfriend that could potentially scar you mentally for simply approaching him.
Or that he has a father ready to toss you into a dungeon for grasping his attention for too long.
Yeah, if they knew all that, I bet he would look as yummy.
They'll be running the other way... unless they're stupid and have a death wish.
I rise from my seat, wanting to leave earlier enough before today's croissant finish.
"Hey, new girl." One of the chattering fan girls calls out to me.
I know it's me because that's what everyone's been saying since I became too lazy to bother with my actual name.
For this reason, I'm tempted to ignore and keep walking but then, I remember I don't want unnecessary enemies.
I already have one bitch trying to get on my nerves.
One bitch is enough.
"Yes?" I turn to them, putting on a forced sweet smile.
"You're close to the Alpha King's kid, right?" She chimes with her high-pitched voice.
"Well, no...?" I can already see where this is going.
"No way. You guys were like totally super close yesterday."
"Can you like let him know we're interested?"
Another asks, flapping her lashes sweetly.
I pause and look at the three. Pretty girls with potential futures ahead of them, basically asking me to throw them to the devil.
I smile regardless.
"I'll see what I can do."
I walk away before they can say anything more, especially asking for more impossible favors.
The walk to the cafeteria is short and brisk but I walk right in.
My eyes scan for Silas immediately and I sigh in relief once he's absolutely nowhere to be found.
I make my way to the usual empty table in a far corner, surprised to see some guy already occupying the seat.
Once I'm close enough, I recognize his silhouette immediately.
"Adam!" I exclaim in excitement, walking faster to the table.
He swings back at the mention of his name, lips breaking into a grin once he recognizes me.
I almost crash into the seat, trying to get their faster, dropping my food on the table.
"You're here again?" I act surprised but low-key, I'm really glad he's here.
We've grown fairly closer since our last encounter again. At this point, he's almost as close to me as
Xena is.
I feel like I can really depend on him and like, he can understand me to an extent.
"Yeah, I had nothing better to do."
"I'm pretty sure you have classes right now, Adam."
The schedules were different so our building had lunch thirty minutes earlier than the other building.
"I let you skip classes the last time but at this rate, you're not going to graduate."
"Relax, missing a few classes isn't going to do much."
We both know they could but I say nothing more, knowing fully well he's not going to listen. "You have no idea how much I needed to see a new face around here." I let out an exhausted breath. Despite everything kind of reverting back to normal in a way and my life not in as much danger, school here was still a drag and making friends or companions were much more harder.
I'm sure being friends with someone like Xena was like a one-time luck thing now.
"So, I'm guessing you missed me." He smirks playfully as always, referring to my more than warm welcome.
"You wish." I chuckled, digging my spoon into the custard on my plate.
"Well, I did."
I look up at him, not expecting him to flat out admit to missing me.
He chuckles from my serious expression, making me realize that he's just joking with me and he really isn't serious.
I frown a bit at his tease but I'm unable to hold it long enough, his laughter being too contagious. "You're mean."
"You're just too easy to tease." He chuckles more, wiping the tears in his eyes.
"On the bright side, you look like you've finally discovered soap and water again. It's a good look on you by the way."
"And you don't look half bad either, despite barely using it seven days a week."
"Thank you." He smiles, ignoring the insult hidden between the words.
His goofiness sets me into another fit of laughter again. It's always so easy laughing and making jokes with him.
This connection right here was so hard to find, this is why I have no friends here. Darn, my high standards.
I feel a presence behind me, towering over me with a hostile aura. Adam's smile fades to seriousness, looking past me.
I'm immediately compelled to look behind, only to see Silas standing right there.
The fuck.
I immediately panic, hiding my face in between my palms. I know it might not help things but still... what part of not being seen together doesn't he understand?
"Silas, what the hell are you doing here?" "Saying hello, ofcourse." He says with a small smile, yet his eyes are fixated on Adam.
The smile doesn't reach his eyes, infact, they portray a different emotion than his lips - a darker expression.
Adam seems uncomfortable by it, looking away and remaining stiff as well.
I want to tell him off but the scene is too open to do so. Instead, I glare back at him, still hiding my face from only goddess knows who.
"Can we talk outside?" I say calmly.
"Sure."
"I'll walk out of the cafeteria and after a few seconds, you do as well."
Without another word, I rise from my position and walk out of the room swiftly.
I walk a few distance, stopping right in front of the janitor's closet.
In the mean time while waiting for him, I assess the empty hallway to be sure no one is passing by or present.
A minute passes and Silas steps out finally, hands tucked deep into his pockets, a laid-back expression and a small smile playing on his lips.
I'm not surprised by the smile. He never takes things seriously after all.
Once he approaches me, I swiftly take a hold of his arm, dragging him into the janitor's closet and shutting the door behind me.
It's the perfect place to have a conversation without being seen.
Sadly though, I hadn't calculated just how small and dark the room is.
It's crowded with equipment and I'm forced to stand close enough to him and our bodies almost touch.
I can't see his face but his body briefly vibrates in a chuckle.
"If you wanted to get me alone so badly, you would have said it." I can hear the smile in his voice.
