                    : CHURCH RAT
FREYA'S POV:
He drops me off right by the spot my clothes had been carefully hiding, wasting no second more to dash away.
I imagined he couldn't stay one more second with me half naked, which is understandable.
I myself had felt the raw attraction earlier as well. It was like a strong magnetic pull, a compelling lure to feel the heat of his skin on mine, to take in more than his scent.
My wolf hadn't made matters easy as well, pushing for control to answer that call.
An Alpha's instinct is ten times stronger than a wolf far below the hierarchy, especially a lowly Omega. So, I could only imagine how much more he had felt...
If he had felt it.
Or maybe, I'm just getting ahead of myself and he really just wanted to get far away from me fast enough because maybe, he had seen better?
Damn it, Freya, what are you thinking right now? Comparing your tiny tits with the buxom of a hundred girls he has slept with?
Pushing all thoughts of Silas beneath my mind, I swiftly change into my clothes and limp my way back into the school field just in time for the main groups to show up together.
Everyone looks more lively than ever, having stretched out their legs and let their wolves out; adrenaline pumping all around with a few howling, simply from the refreshed feeling of a good run.
I myself can relate to the intensely satisfying feeling of being let loose after cramping half your identity within yourself for over weeks.
Just as the groups pass, my eyes reluctantly meet with Silas as he passes by; having a hard laugh with some other bulky guy.
His facial expression freezes on meeting my eyes and he holds them.
Again, that effect where the entire world is a good distance away covers me but this time, I'm embarrassed halfway, remembering the fact that he had just seen me fully nude and I, him.
Things between us would never remain the same.
I look away quickly with my cheeks burning red, remembering the fact that my exposed kitty-kat had grazed his back all through our journey back.
"Freya!"
I turn to Xena who runs back to me, panting happily. The run was also good for her, it seems.
"How was it?"
"It was great. I killed a bear by the way."
"You did what? By yourself?" I gasp.
Usually, it took at most 2 normal seized wolves to take down a grizzly bear.
"Of course! The perfect way to let go of all that pent- up rage because of Lucas. As they say, 'if you can't murder a person, murder a bear."" She chirps playfully.
"Who the hell says that?"
She pauses in thought for a while.
"Probably my grandma. It's a pretty common saying in my family."
"I bet you have a bunch of stuffed bear heads hanging on all the walls in your house back home." I quip sarcastically while gasping in disbelief.
Just what kind of family did she grow up in?
"We do actually. I can get you one after the next school break if you want."
"Nope, thanks. That was supposed to be a... never mind." I drop it.
I just feel it would be best not to pry further. It's clear she comes from a long line of crazy warrior Zeta wolves but this is just crazy.
"Sadly, they didn't let me bring the corpse back to school, so I could skin it and make a coat."
"Yes, very unfortunate news," I add sarcastically again.
I make a move to walk forward now but wince from the pain in my ankle. It's throbbing much more than earlier, probably because I keep using it despite twisting something.
It's not too bad though, just a bit sorer than I want it to be.
"You okay?"
"Just twisted my ankle."
"How did you twist your ankle by just sitting out here and waiting?" She looks baffled.
Her eyes moved from my slightly swollen ankle to my face, trying to figure me out.
I only offer a nervous smile.
"Are you some kind of bad luck magnet? The very moment I look away, you somehow fall into some crazy predicament all on your own. And here I thought it was cause of Silas."
"It's a gift, I guess." I force a chuckle, trying to lighten the mood and not make a deal out of it.
But her frown remains.
"That's not even slightly funny. C'mon on, I'll take you to the school nurse."
She wrapped an arm over my shoulders before I even get the chance to speak and begins assisting me towards the school building up ahead.
She's a lot stronger, so I can easily rest most of my weight on her which is such sweet relief.
Even though she had to bend slightly to my level to lift one side up, she does it effortlessly.
"You need to eat more as well, you're so light." She adds, almost lifting me off the ground.
I simply smile awkwardly.
SILAS' POV
From the corner of my eye, I watch her just as we arrive back at the school fields.
I had managed to join my group just before we arrive with a lot of stares my way for having been gone too long.
But no one dares ask, ofcourse.
I can't pry my eyes away even when a classmate walks up to me for pointless chatter, talking on only goddess knows.
I can't take my thoughts and mind off Freya. Our eyes meet suddenly once she eventually looks my way. I hold her gaze for only a few seconds before she can look away quickly.
The slight tint on her cheeks was just barely visible, causing a tent in my shorts.
I can't help but think of what other part of her body could turn a pink hue just like that.
The primal urge to make that milky pale skin of hers flush overtakes me.
To pin her tiny frail body beneath me and make her beg and scream. Draw those sweet moans from her lips while she calls my name.
Leave marks all over the bare skin of her shoulders, her back...
"Silas!"
I swerve the other direction, coming face to face with Elena. A deep frown on her face that doesn't compliment her one bit.
"I've been trying to get your attention!" She begins whining.
"What?" I drawl tiredly.
I'm already exhausted by whatever she's going to say to me.
"I saw something out there during the run."
I raise my brow at her now.
"It looked like a smaller wolf, much too small to be any of the students here."
"A rogue?"
"Not quite."
"Maybe you saw a deer and mistook it as something else."
She frowns at me now, folding her hands below her chest in a stance to say that she's upset.
I sigh.
"Look, whatever you're implying isn't possible with the tight security, especially since the last time.
Unless it's some rogue trying to break into pack territory, it's probably a bear cub or something else."
"I know what I saw."
"Did you see it up close?"
She remains silent, looking the other way now and biting on her thumb.
"Exactly."
I turn the other way, making the move to leave but she comes right infront of me again, frowning even harder than before.
I'm annoyed now, especially seeing as Freya has already left the scene. My wolf can't sense her again and he's scratching to find her.
"Of course, you don't want to listen to me or take me seriously. You're too busy fawning over that she- bitch to even look at me."
The insult hits me hard and weighs heavy on my already thin patience with her.
I growl, glaring hard at her, my wolf pushing to put her in her place right there.
"Watch your tongue," I warn.
"No, you watch yourself. I haven't seen you in days,
Silas. You're skipping classes now. Where have you been? I miss you."
She raises her hand in an attempt to touch me but I take a step back from her.
"Nowhere that should concern you," I respond coldly. She frowns, dropping her hands instantly. "I'm getting fed up with this, Silas - this neglect.
Don't make me make you regret treating me this way."
"Is that a threat?" I warn her again with my eyes, taking a step closer to her.
She stands still, unfazed and taking a step closer as well.
"Yes, it is. Don't forget who the real threat is here,
Silas. If you ruin this, you know what's coming to you. So, it's time for you to choose. Your future with me, or that church rat."
