SILAS' POV:
"I think the Alpha King has something to do with Freya's disappearance."
"What?" I stare at her bewildered.
No way...
That's not possible.
My father was miles away, too busy engrossed with state matters, and being at the beck and call of mother 24/7. How would he have a hand in Freya's disappearance?
Why would he?
Yes, he's adamant on me going through with my duty on being mated to Elena.
But he's never involved himself in the countless flings, has never even fussed about Freya, not since...
Not since the Solstice dinner.
"I know it sounds unbelievable. I'm probably committing treason for even daring to suggest that." Xena begins nervously, ranting again
"Hold up, Xena. There's no way he could." Lucas butts in now, taking a hold of her hand and forcing her to look his way.
"It's not possible, you must be mistaken. He doesn't have the time to waste on a simple subject." He continues.
"Lucas, shut up." I say. He has lost every right to pitch anything. "Go on, Xena. What makes you think he's responsible?" I say to her.
She seems even more reluctant than ever, especially with what Lucas was saying and the look he's giving her.
I sigh, walking over to the both of them.
First, tossing his hand away from hers and dragging her with me a few steps ahead of him, so she's standing just infront of me and unable to see Lucas, and he can't reach her.
"Talk."
She sighs.
"Weeks ago, around the time of her sudden and mysterious transfer, she told me something weird..." Xena begins.
"Xena..." Lucas begins again.
"Shut the hell up, Lucas, if you don't want me to shut it for you." I growl, warning him.
He remains silent, so I look back to Xena.
"Continue."
She nods.
"She told me that King Darius had threatened her to stay away from you at the Solstice dinner. She was supposed to stay away from you at all cost, and I suspect that he was the one that issued the transfer."
I freeze like cold ice immediately.
"What? He was the one that got her transferred?"
He was the reason she suddenly grew all cold and distant with me?
Why she suddenly disappeared and constantly stopped us from being seen in public together when I finally found her?
She was trying to honor his wishes, and I foolishly hated her at some point for playing with me, and went against every one of the boundaries she set...
"Apparently, he was going to do something worse if she failed her own end."
Holy fucking shit.
I glare at her now, suddenly seething. How could someone have such vital information and wait for the last minute to share?
"Why didn't you say anything!"
"I'm sorry. We all thought it was a rogue attack at the time, and it had slipped my mind until recently. I didn't think he would actually do something this serious." She trembles, explaining.
Fuck!
I turn away from her, pacing around in deep thought.
Had he actually done this...? Had father actually dared to interfere in my private life and kidnap Freya...?
"Wait, Silas, y-you don't actually think your dad would do that... I-I mean, that's not possible, right? He's too busy being obsessed with Queen Lumera in his free time." Lucas speaks again stuttering a bit too obviously.
I turn to him with fiery rage burning in my eyes, stalking forward and closing the space between us in less than a second.
He flinches backwards as I draw closer to him, but I only loom over him.
"No, Lucas, I don't. But I also never thought you of all people would go behind my back and sabotage me." I say coldly.
"Silas... It... it wasn't my intention."
I scoff at him, disgusted by the fact that he really thinks an apology will do shit right now.
"You've been acting suspicious since this whole fiasco started. Don't think I haven't noticed it. Don't think I'm stupid." I say.
He stiffens instantly, not daring to look up at me.
"You better hope you have nothing to do with Freya's disappearance, Lucas. You better pray to the moon goddess that you have no hand in this. Because if you do, I will personally escort you to the gates of hell with every innard of yours hanging out your gut." I threaten lowly.
"Stop it, Silas." Xena steps in again.
I pull away from him now, turning to her frowning intensely. She's clearly pissed that I constantly treat him like a criminal.
But he's nothing more than that right now.
It stings just as much thinking about everything he has done behind my back.
I also don't want to doubt Lucas - not him. I've known him longer than most people, even Adam.
But he's giving me no choice, hiding things from me and constantly acting suspicious, even now.
"How can you be on his side even now, knowing what he's done with the investigation? You say you'd crawl into hell for Freya, right? Well, your boyfriend is clearly tampering with the investigation!"
I don't want to raise my voice at her. She's innocent and basically just saved me, but her trust is blind just like mine had been.
She bites on her lip, looking at Lucas. He avoids her eyes as well.
"I'm sure there's some misunderstanding. Maybe he had a plan we don't see yet. There has to be a reason why he would risk Freya's life. Lucas wouldn't hurt anyone willingly." She defends him even with so much doubt shimmering in her eyes.
She doesn't even completely believe what she's saying
I scoff now.
Of course, she'd side with him now, even while her friend's life is on the line. Why had I expected something more from her?
She's too blinded by feelings to see anything right now, and I'd be a fool to blame her.
I'd over look anything for Freya, and maybe this wouldn't make me so mad if she wasn't the one on the line. "Don't say things like crawling through hell for her if you can't doubt the same guy that treated you like trash."
She winces from my harsh words with guilt flashing across her face. Her head hangs low now, too embarrassed to hold those same shoulders as high as before.
"Silas...!" Lucas enters again, attempting at standing up for her.
I swerve to him quickly.
"I swear to god, Lucas, if you speak one more time,
I'm going to rip your throat out of your neck and hang you with it!" I growl in his direction.
I make the move to do just that before the door opens again and this time, Adam walks in.
He pauses, taking in the entire scene. From a depressed looking Xena, a bruised Lucas and then, me, just about to lunge at him.
Clueless Adam just stares at us wide eyed.
"Uhm... did I perhaps miss something vital while I was gone?"
My attention focuses to Adam now, the fucker that I had expected to stop Lucas from doing shit like this. "Where the hell have you been?" I glare at him.
If he had been here while Lucas was doing all this shit, I swear I'd...
"Lucas requested I go on a search mission outside school. It was supposed to take a week, but I got everything done in only a few days." He explains, still confused.
That asshole...
He sent Adam on some wild goose chase as well!
I look back at Lucas, just barely holding myself from killing him, and he has the nerve to avoid my gaze for the fifth time since he has been caught. "What's going on, Silas?" Adam asks now.
"Lucas sabotaged everything, and Xena's brought some vital information that can potentially help us find Freya." I give him the summary of everything that's happened. "Wait, what?" He looks more dumbfounded.
It'll take some minutes for it to sink into.
He looks at me and then, at Lucas for a few seconds.
Once he's done and the info finally sinks in, I watch the frown form on his face.
I have no time for any of this. Instead, I grab a few papers and begin walking out of the office. "Adam, you're in charge while I'm away." I say
"Where are you going?" Adam asks just as I'm about to leave.
I want to say it's obvious but then, I remember he's not aware of the recent information.
Just before I walk out, I respond to his question. "I'm going to take a trip back home. My old man and I have a few things we need to discuss."
