: DONE DEAL
SILAS' POV:
I watch silently, biting on my tongue, an attempt at containing my feral wolf and my own anger while his wicked laughter echoes in the vast dining hall we are in.
This had all been his plan even from the moment I had decided to pay a visit and confront him.I was acting the way he wanted me to. No action of mine had been purely my own for weeks now.
I have no choice but to give in to him because he has Freya.
His fits of laughter slowly die down before he faces me properly again with pure amusement glimmering in his eyes.
He's waiting for a reaction from me.
Maybe for me to lunge forward or flip the table, something drastic that draws more attention to the point he can twist the whole entire situation.
But I do not give him the satisfaction.
Either way, I am entangled in his game.
"Poor Silas. This is what happens when you let your emotions get the better of you." He begins.
His smirk morphing into a stern, more serious look, like he's scolding me and teaching some life lesson.
"A true Alpha does not let things like emotions, feelings or friendship stand in the way of his duties. A true Alpha is firm. Putting your faith in people, letting yourself get entangled with filth... all that will eventually become your downfall. That is why today, I have you at the palm of my hands. I can make you do and say whatever I please." He lectures.
Even with the atmosphere, he still eats.
"It's because of that very reason, that very trust you hold too much on your friends that you are in this same situation."
It only takes a few seconds of silence that follows for me to put the pieces together. I hate to admit the truth in his words.
Trust had blinded me till the last moment.
"Lucas..." I make out under my breath while I clench my fist harder.
"Bingo." He says.
How had I not seen it all this while? The answer fits the puzzle perfectly now.
He had been so adamant on me being with Elena, so against Freya and yet, I had purposefully blinded myself with the thought that he wouldn't do that to me that our years of friendship actually meant something.
"He orchestrated the whole thing, misdirecting you, and making sure she stayed locked up. Imagine it son, while you were losing your mind, he paid a visit to her every other day right under your nose, yet you trusted the enemy." He continues taunting me now.
I grind my teeth.
"At least he gets it. He gets just how much duty comes before wants. Don't hate the poor boy, he was just looking out for you after all, and diligently following orders."
"Where is she?" I ask.
I can't stand to hear any more of his lecturing or anymore truth about Lucas, my patience running thin.
"Oh, don't worry, she's safe and sound in one of my detention centers - the lowest level where we keep our most deranged criminals. Do you want to know why she's there?" He asks, leaning in closer to me.
I give no response. My head hangs low, hiding the malicious emotions bubbling within me.
I hold onto the wooden table to hold myself back from charging forward, but the wood breaks in my hand, crumbling like sand.
Don't do anything, Silas. That's what he wants.
"She's there because you showed weakness. You have no power to protect her, yet you endangered her life. You basically got her locked up, tortured and starved for weeks."
I rise to my feet against my control, my wolf seeking to attack but I channel all that anger into my fist and slam it against the table before I can do something I regret.
The force cracks it in two, deforming it's shape. The vast array of food comes tumbling onto the ground with dishes shattering against the floor.
As the whole chaos ensues I exhale and inhale deeply, forcing myself to remain calm. I cannot hear any more of his taunting, lest I lose my mind.
"Just tell me what you want." I say.
He smiles again, having seen a reaction from me, pleased in his own sick way.
"Just like your mother said, Silas, you and Elena will continue speaking. No more of that break up nonsense going on. You will have nothing more to do with Freya. Infact, kill whatever infatuation that is brimming between the both of you." He dictates his terms.
Ah, he's finally getting just what he wants from me - just like he planned.
I only nod slowly as he speaks.
"I don't care if you try to sleep around like a promiscuous dog, but Elena will be your priority and you will treat her as such."
I nod obediently.
"You see? That wasn't so bad, was it? In the end, we both get what we want. Freya will be set free, and you resume your duties as future alpha." He chuckles to himself.
"I have my own conditions as well." I interject his happy moment.
He pauses and looks at me again, smiling.
"Of course, go on."
"You will put Freya back into her normal class room and no longer watch her. No harm will come to her in any way as well, and she will be compensated for every discomfort she experinced."
"Fine, that's fine."
"And I will have just one day, a whole 24 hours to say my good byes."
He remains quiet now, sitting in deep thought as he rubs his chin. He hums to himself, probably weighing the pros and cons of it before he finally shrugs.
"No harm there, I suppose. One last day to say good bye doesn't sound bad. After that, she's never going to have anything to do with you after all." His words pierce through my heart as I swallow a thick ball down my throat. Never being with Freya again will kill me. She's become like oxygen to my body, my only source of sanity.
But I would do anything to keep her safe. "Yes." I nod simply.
"Perfect! It's a done deal. I will send someone to release her, and you get your pathetic reunion."
"No, I want to take her out myself." I say.
I don't trust him to get her out of there safely.
"Fine, fine. From the moment you see her, your 24 hours starts. I will be watching."
I nod again, turning around to leave. I have no other business here.
FREYA'S POV:
I blink my eyes open slowly, waking up from a small nap.
The warm feeling in my chest lets me know instantly that there had been a dream; something sweet and lovely.
Sadly, I have no recollection of it other than a soothing smile from Silas.
His face was blurry, but I knew it was him.
The very brief memory has me smiling as warmth fills my heart, the only source of warmth in this cold and dirty cell.
There's an ominous feeling in my chest, something akin to hope for the first time in a while, even after the traumatizing experience with King Darius again for the second time.
Just as I stare into space, entertaining myself in deep thoughts, I hear a door clicking open and I assume it's the door I cannot see, which usually means the guards are switching.
But the footsteps grow louder as though approaching.
I'm tensed up now because past experiences have taught me that anyone could be on the other side.
So, it's either an enemy or friend approaching me now.
The cell doors pull open as I finally turn forward, meeting the eyes of my new visitor, smiling down at me softly in a way that has my heart racing. "Hey, Freya... Let's get you out of here."
