FREYA'S POV:
He groans for the umpteenth time once the lights finally go dark and the large white screen lights up.
"I told you to pick something you've never done before." He reminds me of our deal, like I had been deaf when he brought up the suggestion.
"Yeah, I heard you."
"You've never been to a cinema?" He acts all shocked again for the seventh time.
"Strict parents." I say as an excuse.
In actuality, my assigned parents never deemed me worthy enough to enjoy the classic childhood and teenagehood entitled to every offspring.
Been scrubbing pots since I could walk. No way they'd let me waste time at the cinema.
"Well, I guess I can relate to that." He comments.
Unfortunately, his comment is an instant trigger and suddenly, I'm flinching from the memory. I know just how strict his father especially is.
I unwillingly shiver in my seat and he notices quickly, stretching out to take a hold of my arm even if I flinch away.
"Sorry, too soon?" He comments, rubbing on my back.
"Yeah, kind of." I point out.
I'd very much prefer to avoid all topics pertaining to his parents for a very long time.
The movie finally begins and sure enough, it's an old 90s movie. The name itself already gives a glimpse at how cheesy and romantic it's going to be.
Silas falls back into his seat, groaning in pure agony and closing his eyes. I watch him, just enjoying the whole scene unfold.
"I think I'm really going to enjoy this." I joke, chuckling from his reaction.
He turns to me with a glare and a frown.
"Your rights to picking date activities in the future has been revoked from today hence forth." He deadpans.
I find his reaction cute, holding myself from reaching out and tugging.
"It's worth it then." I chime, relaxing backward.
A few minutes of the movie plays on and the male protagonist already begins serenading his female counterpart with the cheesiest of songs in his deep sweet baritone and an old catchy 90s tune.
While I hum to it, Silas groans. His frown deepens when I turn to watch him in delight.
"What do you see in this? The guy's lines are cheesy and the girl is clearly naïve for falling for it." He begins criticizing the movie again while I take a hand full of popcorn.
Getting snacks was a really good idea.
"I thought you playboys used rom-coms as source material for your escapades." I humor him.
"Nope, not my style. I hate the cliché shit, and I don't go after them, they come to me." He explains with a bit of pride seen in the way he suddenly broadens his shoulders, like a male peacock.
I roll my eyes at his cockiness.
"I just realized that without that handsome face of yours and your status, you'd be a lonely middle-aged man with seven dogs."
Or cats. I don't discriminate.
He'd be the male counterpart to an old cat lady though.
"Wrong. I'd have you." He points out.
The statement makes me look at him again, and that smug smirk on his lips. I raise my brow now.
"What makes you think I'd stick around, especially with that terrible attitude of yours, Silas?" I ask, really interested to know.
What really is the source of all this ego?
"Well, for one, my horse dick of course and then, the fact that you are completely smitten by me."
I break out in laughter once he wiggles his brows, adding to just how silly he is.
His cockiness feels like a breath of fresh air and a distraction. Also, I realize just how much his confidence in himself draws me to him.
Then, that sexy smile playing at his lips...
Even while I laugh, he looks at me so intensely, slowly leaning closer to me. My laugh fades, realizing what's going on.
He wants to kiss me.
It's obvious in the way his lips slightly pucker and his eyes fixate on mine, like there's nothing else in the world.
I tense up, bracing myself for the impact and hoping no triggers come up. I take a deep breath, reminding myself to relax and simply enjoy the freaking moment.
"Hey, why don't you guys shut up and keep your annoying chattering to yourself? I'm trying to watch a movie here!"
Some deranged idiot yells at us, suddenly forcing us to pull apart.
Just as we rip apart, I look down, noticing the fiery glare directed at us about two rows ahead. A guy, seemingly in his late twenties, sending daggers our way with his eyes.
He annoys me instantly, and I'm prepared to give him a piece of my mind.
"Hey, asshole. Remember when I asked for your opinion? Yeah, me neither. So, mind your fucking business!" I yell at the idiot at the top of my voice, drawing more attention than before.
Thankfully, the hall isn't remotely full and only a few more eyes are added to the peering group.
He rolls his eyes, grumbling, and turns ahead. I assume it's in defeat.
That's right, asshole... look away.
"The nerve of the guy. Imagine what he would look like when he finds out who you are." I point out, still feeling a bit riled up.
Silas chuckles next to me for the first time since the movie began, forcing me to look at him again.
And just like that, the anger is gone. "You're sexy when you get all feisty... have I mentioned that before?" He says in a low sexy tone purposely.
I smirk, leaning closer to him.
"Maybe, but not enough." I wiggle my brows just like he had before.
He suddenly seems taken aback, but in a good way. Eyes widening along with his smile
"Freya Daphne Willows, are you flirting with me?
Damn, never thought I'd see the day." He says dramatically.
I can't hold back the chuckle that rolls out from me next.
"What? My name's not Daphne."
"I know, but I needed a middle name to make it sound more dramatic." He explains.
My chuckle lasts for a bit before I lean in again, acting all flirtatious, as much as I can muster from clips of
Mean Girls 1 and 2, plus Legally Blonde. "Hmm, maybe I am flirting."
His eyes lit up immediately with fire works as he licks his lips, looking at mine again. The simple act has my blood burning just like before.
"You naughty girl."
He leans in closer and I was pulled, watching his eyes then his lips that look sweeter than ever.
"Sweet goddess, would it kill you to at least whisper your personal shit? I can hear everything from down here!" The guy from before yells again in an even louder and more annoying tone.
I groan in agony, feeling the fire of anger being lit within me again.
I want to give him a piece of my mind again, say something harsher that forces him to keep quiet for the rest of the night and leave us be.
Before the words can leave my lips, however, Silas gently holds on my hand, giving me the-calm-down- let-me-handle-this look.
He smiles so respectfully, turning to the guy still glaring at us like we owe him money.
"We're terribly sorry, Sir. It must be hard for you to listen to youngsters like us gush over each other, well, with you watching a romance movie all alone 'by choice'... Yeah, you're not fooling anyone." He begins. I snort, stifling the laugh that threaten to burst from my mouth just from his words and the air-quote gesture he makes when he said by choice. It's perfectly funny and I couldn't have said it better myself. Sadly, I'm the only one that finds it funny because the guy is seething even more, rising to his feet and facing us fully while he points at us shamelessly. "Why, you good for nothing rats..." "Yeah, keep trying. Being a dick won't make yours bigger though." Silas adds at the end, clearly not done with the guy. The last statement sets him loose. He begins attempting to climb over the seats to get to us and yelling profanities while doing, so it's just so hilarious While I laugh, Silas stands to his feet as well. For a moment, I tense, thinking he's pissed and is about to put the guy in his place, blowing our cover in the process.
But instead, he picks me up, tossing me over his shoulder. I notice his wide grin never fades. "And this is our cue to leave." He jokes, hopping us away from there.
I chuckle as he dashes out the hall with me on top his shoulder while the older man yells for security to get us before we leave.
I don't remember the last time I laughed to the point my chest constricted and I was lost for air.
I choke, taking deep gasps as I wipe a few tears leaking through.
Everything hurts, but I feel so good.
Just when we're out, Silas drops me on my feet, watching me till my laughing fades and I can look at him straight without closing my eyes.
He smiles warmly at me, gently tucking a stray strand of hair behind my ears. "Well, that was fun." He comments as we begin walking down the lane to nowhere in particular.
"Yeah, but I think we're definitely banned from entering again." I point out. "Worth it." He adds
I smile, taking the fresh cool breeze moving around us in a deep inhale.
The weather seems so perfect, especially the sun slowly setting and casting an orange tint in the sky.
It's so beautiful. A luxury I now realize I had been missing on for weeks. "Wanna get some ice scream?" He says suddenly.
I look at him now and where he's pointing to. An ice scream stand just about closing with various flavored sample displayed.
It's a very tempting offer and it's weird just how a nice cool refreshment is just conveniently available when we need it.
We go closer and get some of course. Who would miss out on ice cream willingly? I get the chocolate and Silas, strawberry with sprinkles.
He dives into it, instantly digging his tongue and scooping a fair amount into his mouth, sighing in satisfaction.
He unconsciously begins humming to himself as we begin walking again.
I get to see a glimpse of his inner child that adores the cold creamy treat in a way no one else would understand, and my heart strings are pulled on from just watching.
The urge to brush his cheeks fill me and I blush, realizing just how down bad I am right now. "This reminds me of our first date." He says casually just as his free hand slides around mine in the most casual way possible.
My heart rate picks up while I look away, trying to compose myself again.
I clear my throat.
"I highly doubt we can call that a first date."
"C'mon. We had so much fun." He presses.
"Yeah, after you ditched me at a party and flirted with some chick right infront of me."
A slight pang hits my heart from simply recalling the memory.
"So... what I'm understanding is you were jealous."
He teases now.
"You wish." I say, but the annoying feeling in my chest and throat doesn't go away. "There's no need to be so shy, Freya. It's normal to find me attractive." He winks at me, and I'm forced to do another eye roll.
"Gosh, you are so vain."
"Part of the charm." He boasts proudly that it's almost annoying.
"I hate it." I huff dramatically only to see his reaction.
He stops walking just like that, turning his whole body to me, and forcing me to do the same while he looks down at me and I stare back. "You don't." He corrects me vainly again.
I scoff at him, yet I can't not agree with it. All the feelings I feel right now are clearly on the other end of hatred.
"You have something by the corner of your lips." He points out suddenly, pointing at the corner of my mouth.
"Here?" I attempt at rubbing it off, but fail.
"No, let me get it." "Just point at it, I can..." I try to protest.
He leans in, interrupting my train of thoughts, licking the side of my lips.
The feel of his wet tongue on my skin sends shiver all over, coupled with heat.
He pulls away just barely enough to look me in the eye before diving in again, this time, taking my entire mouth.
His kiss is deep and passionate, expressing just how much want he has without too much force. I moan, giving into him without much of a fight, knowing I want it too.
My mind goes blank and I hold on to him, standing on my tippy toes to wrap my arms round his neck while his large hands fit around my waist. It's a simple kiss yet so powerful, and it leaves me breathless and brimming with so many emotions. And while I look into the silver eyes in front of me, I see so much of mine in them.
"I don't want this day to end. Not after you've been gone for so long." He starts with his voice strained.
He looks so sad regardless of the sweet moment between us right now.
It puts me on edge. "Is everything okay?" I ask, worried now, caressing his cheek just like I've been craving to do all day.
"No, it's perfect." He says with a small smile.
He's right, it's all too perfect that I'm suddenly so scared that all this might be a dream I would wake up from.
"I don't want today to end either." "Fuck, you make me so cheesy, Freya." He chuckles, holding onto my face just as softly as I do his, taking in every inch and contour and texture of my skin.
"I like it." I say softly.
I want to kiss him again and forget that the sun is almost gone and night would be soon upon us.
He sees it all in my eyes and sighs.
"Then call me the cheesiest man alive."
With that, he leans in again, kissing me and drawing all my worries away.
The taxi cab that takes us up the familiar hill leading gates of our school.
to the academy, pulls over just by the large golden
A lot of mixed feeling course through me instantly.
I'm grateful to be around a familiar environment but unsure of myself.
Will I be able to adjust myself with the crazy amount of triggers I've developed over the past few days?
I only have just a week before school resumes to get over it.
I'm terrified.
"I've been wanting to ask but I didn't want to ruin the date. How were you able to get me out? I mean, I thought I was going to be stuck there for much longer until you and Elena..."
He looks away, avoiding my eyes suddenly - then smiles.
"I did a little trick. Struck a deal with my Dad. Don't worry, I made sure it never happens again."
I want to ask more but his eyes seem distant and unwillingly. I decide to ask some other time.
"Okay."
We both step out, him helping me up and stepping aside for me to walk forward.
I walk slowly up to the gates and it's only then I realize he's not behind me, following closely as I thought.
