                    : BEST THERAPY
My eyes remain wide awake even when the sun slowly rises and nature's light begins filling the room.
Not even a wink of sleep visits me... I wonder why.
I should be able to fall asleep, being on such a comfy bed far far away from that torture chamber. I had slept right next to Silas... yet I was unable to rest for a single moment.
Now that it's morning, I feel even more exhausted than ever. Sadly, it's just me that feels that way.
Xena's already up, bright and early, humming very loudly after she came back from having a bath and getting dressed.
I groan in frustration, clogging my ears with the pillow.
Now that my eyes are feeling heavy... if I could just fit in a moment's rest.
"Are you awake?" She pops up right next to me suddenly.
I jump up in fright, tumbling to the ground with my butt first from the intrusion I wasn't expecting.
Now, my butt is sore and I feel a slight headache coming on.
Well, there goes my sleep.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Did I wake you up?" She asks, looking more guilty than worried, and I immediately feel bad that she feels bad.
"No, it's fine. I wasn't sleeping." I say, rubbing my tush as I rise to my feet.
There's no use trying anymore. I'd much rather just wait for the next light out to sleep, but Xena doesn't buy it as much.
I know she still feels bad for everything. I can see it in her eyes, the way she's looking at me and will probably look for a while...
It's the same way Adam had looked at me and Lucas at some point.
Like I'm a fragile glass that could shatter.
It makes me all the more angry, but not with them, with myself. And the need to shake off that impression they have just keeps growing deep within me.
"You sleep okay last night?"
"Yeah... just a bit, but that's only because I wasn't tired." I say again, stretching and flexing my body like it's nothing.
A few bruises hurt, but I don't wince to hide it. Xena, realizing just how many bruises I had under my long sleeved shirt, would just make everything worse.
"You look like shit though." She reaches out to touch my hair and my body recoils on it's own.
I try my best to play it as just a back itch, moving away from her reach as natural as possible, but her eyes look a bit cryptic.
"How about we do something today? I could use some exercise." I start, changing the subject immediately, hoping it's enough to shift her attention.
She seems reluctant while in thought for a while, till her eyes begin sparkling like diamonds and a light bulb visibly lights up in her head.
"I know just what you need to help you recover."
For some reason, I feel at the bottom of my gut, I'm going to regret this again.
"What do you have in mind?"
"Shopping." She says excitedly, holding back a shriek that I see she desperately wants to let out.
"Shopping...?"
"It's the best form of therapy."
"Really? Shopping?" I already have a bad feeling about this.
"C'mon. We get to try on clothes that make you feel powerful and good. School will resume in a few days as well. You'll want a new look."
I'm reluctant to agree to this for obvious reasons. Being in crowded spaces for too long, wearing outfits that could show off my bruises, and I really don't care about a new look right now.
I'd much rather wear a hoodie and remain invisible for the rest of the school session.
"Plus, I'm sure Silas would love to see you in something new." She adds.
I pause, immediately having a second thoughts.
"Uhh... what time are we leaving?"
Maybe shopping wouldn't be so bad, I guess.
"Whenever you're ready." She answers with a wide smile, having successfully convinced me.
Ahh, I see what she did....
Nice one.
"Where are we going?" A third voice enters into our conversation.
I jump up for the second time, stumbling, but Xena catches me before I knock over a lamp by my desk.
Both our eyes turn to the door leading to the balcony, slightly ajar, with Adam leaning against it.
I calm my racing heart, sighing once I see it's just him.
"For the love of god, Adam... would it kill you to knock? She's literally a trauma patient." Xena yells at him, going into scolding mode instantly.
"I'm not a patient." I mutter breathlessly while she pats on my back.
"You left the door open, that's asking for anyone to walk in unannounced."
"I'm definitely going to get that door sealed up. The amount of intruders coming that way is only increasing."
"What are you doing here, Adam? And so early in the morning." I ask just when I finally get my breathing normal.
His eyes finally focus on me.
"I'm here to be your body guard, remember?"
Oh.
"Didn't think you'd actually take that serious." I chuckle dryly.
"I take anything with you serious, especially with what happened recently." He says with this stern look in his eyes, his mood switching instantly. It's enough to discourage me from any attempt at talking him out of it.
Somehow, trying to make them both feel better by letting them do the work me seems to be turning around to bite me in the ass.
A truly splendid idea it was. "Sorry, Adam, but it's a girl's day in town."
"Fine by me, I can simply stand on the sidelines."
Xena scoffs, hating the idea of him tagging along and just stalks off to her wardrobe.
As much as I hate the present bickering, I can't help the need to please the both of them trying to heal from 'failing me' in their own ways.
It really won't be so bad if Adam tagged along.
He's smiling at me again, and I pass a tired one, grabbing onto my towel.
"Give us thirty minutes and we'd be down." "Great. I'll be waiting." He says chirpily before finally leaving and locking the door behind him.
I sigh again, feeling terribly exhausted before the day has already began, because I know it's going to be a long one.
It takes less than thirty minutes for me to get ready. I wasn't in the mood for extra glam like Xena, so I took a quick shower, and tossed on some very simple clothes; another black hoody and joggers. I'm happy that Xena doesn't try to talk me out of what I'm wearing right now and just goes with it, just like I am with this whole entire shopping idea. We leave school premises in Adam's ride; an Aston martin. Lost in all the crazy things constantly popping up in my life, I had forgotten that the school I attended primarily for the high ranking and fucking rich offspring's of most of the most influential pack leaders in the continent.
was
Which meant it's a normal thing for Adam to be rich, Xena as well.
It perfectly explains why she doesn't flinch once he pulls his ride just outside our dorm and steps out to get the door for us.
"My ladies." He bows with a charming smile. Xena scoffs, stepping in, probably still upset that she doesn't get to have just me for the day, and Adam just seems to be loving the intrusion himself.
I offer a smile politely as I step in.
Even the inside smells like money.
I instantly remember the first time Silas and I went into town for the first time in one of his cars.
It smelt just like this, only with his scent mixed in.
Wood pine and peppermint.
The memory of it has my heart whining again and my wolf rolling around within me. She clearly misses him as much as I do.
I'm a bit glad she's more active these days since the kidnapping.
"Earth to Freya!"
I swing my head to Xena, who looks at me with a brow raised up.
It's then I realize that the journey has already begun and while I was lost in deep in thoughts, Xena had engaged in conversation with my body. "Sorry?" I apologize.
I just can't seem to be myself these days.
She waves it off, understanding why I'm unable to focus but asks again.
"I asked how things are with you and Silas?"
"What?"
Her question on my relationship with Silas is unexpected.
It's clear she is, however, every interested with her gleaming blue eyes staring up at me expectantly. "C'mon. I know you were together for the whole day before you came back, give me the deets." She pushes. "Uhm.. uhh...n-nothing much, just talking, hanging out and... stuff."
"Stuff...? Don't tell me... you guys did it!" She shrieks the last pat too loudly from excitement.
My eyes widen at how brazen she's being, and my cheeks burn with intensified embarrassment.
Just then, the car comes to a crashing halt that shoots me forward from where I sit and crashing me into the seat right infront of me.
