The church was cold . It was a grand building . Tall ceilings and decorated walls . Angels and Saints statues looked over the morbid event .
It was cold because it was sad day . Everyone was gathered to mourn the loss of Mandy McKay .
After the introduction from the clergy and his readings , they read excerpts from holy scriptures and Mandy's favourite poems . Quite suddenly it was time for the
words and memories to be shared about Mandy from her family and friends.
William McKay stood up . His red face was redder . He had stuffed himself into a suit , which was different from his usual messy attire . He was a laid back man , portly and loud , always in the pub or at football games . He was a family man. A good dad . A happy man . A funny man . But right now it looked as though his whole world was over . And quite frankly it was .
"Hello. I'm Mandy's dad . My girl was smart. Very smart . I remember when she would ask me for help and I was thinking I can't even do this myself . She was smarter than me, but she never looked down at me . She was kind . She was thoughtful ... she was ... sorry . She was beautiful. I'm going to miss my special girl . I'll never ever forget ... she told me that she looked forward to seeing me . We used to go stargazing when she was a wee lass. Now when I look at those stars ... I know she's with me . I love you ... I love you Mandy . Thank you ."
He stepped off the altar choking back tears .
Anissa climbed up . She held paper in her hand . She was shaking .
"Erm... Mandy was amazing . She was so pretty. She helped me . I owe a lot to her. We wasn't friends for long but those few months we were ... I'll hold dear to me . She taught me a lot . She balanced me out . She made me a better person . Everything Mandy touched she improved . I'm gonna miss her. We're all gonna miss her . Our star girl." She said .
Miles stepped onto the altar.
"I don't really know what to say . I've never been to a funeral . I never really thought I'd go to one . Especially my sisters. I miss my sister . She was the best . She was cool . And kind . And gave me the best cuddles . She was so brave and taught me lots of things . She could be funny at times . Though I'd never ever tell her that . I'm gonna miss Mandy . I don't know who I'm gonna play with now . It's cold at home without her . She was my sister , my best friend , my mother , my everything... and ..." Miles broke down into tears.
He was picked up by his dad who went over to Mandy's mum . She was so stricken she didn't dare to speak . Onto the altar went Mandy's English teacher who went on and on about how much of an exemplary student Mandy was . And then more people spoke . Anissa's mum , the lady at the library , her cousin Char , her neighbour , people who loved and cared for her . People who would miss her ...

Anissa had done a lot . She went to nursing school. She moved to Canada for the duration of two years . Then she met her Fiancé and they settled down in the city of Leeds.
She has done well for herself no longer the unserious girl she was years ago. And here she was in Greenvale hospital delivering a baby .
Sweat trickled down her face as she pushed.
Her fiancé , Christopher , held her hand as she pushed.
She screamed . A small cry was heard .
The nurse scooped her up and wrapped her in the blanket after aiding Christopher to cut the umbilical cord.
After the baby was washed and put into the small pink babygro Anissa had purchased , visitors were allowed .
Eryk walked in his eyes full of adoration .
Anissa grinned happy to see her old friend . He still lived in London so they only saw each other annually.
"She's perfect ." Eryk whispered sitting by her and peering at the baby . Anissa carefully handed the baby over .
"Her name is Mandy."
Eryk looked up eyes tearing up.
