Without warning, his gaze shot up to meet hers.
This was a heartrending topic, but she said it with a bright smile, as if she had never minded it.
After saying that, she turned and walked away gracefully, her steps light.
Sterling felt like a ton of bricks had been placed on his chest, making it hard for him to breathe and move.
Afterward, the two of them didn't have much interaction until they pushed the ball into the last hole.
There, Jack and Celeste were already waiting.
"Not bad!" Jack gave them a thumbs-up.
Although Sterling won, the gap between him and Zara was not significant.
Celeste discreetly glanced at Zara and quickly ran to Sterling's side, "Look, you've sweated so much."
She took out a towel to wipe the sweat off Sterling's face.
But before she could reach him, Sterling took the towel from her and wiped it himself.
"Quick, get some chilled water for our Zara," Jack instructed his beta behind him with a smiling face.
He looked at Zara with an exceptionally amiable and gentle gaze.
Sterling watched this scene, feeling something in his heart.
It seemed that Zara was quite popular outside.
Previously, it was Alpha Dante and Alpha Robin, and now there was Alpha Jack, and all of them showed great enthusiasm toward her.
Sterling was still dazed when his arm was pulled.
"Sterling, I talked to Alpha Anderson for a long time just now. He's actually not as difficult to get along with as I imagined. Quite amiable," Celeste's beautiful face showed a hint of excitement. "I also told him about your performance in recent years and your plans. He seems interested."
Although she didn't say it out loud, it was as if her face had the words 'praise me' written on it.
"Thank you," Sterling said.
He wasn't good at complimenting others.
After speaking, he strode away.
On the other side, Jack and Zara walked side by side.
Zara drank the chilled water with small sips.
Although she was wearing a sun hat, she still felt hot. The sun was quite strong today.
Her fair face was dotted with glistening sweat beads, and even her eyelashes were moist.
"Is it him?" Jack suddenly spoke, asking out of the blue.
Zara turned to look at him, slightly furrowing her brows.
"He is the man you used to like but later broke up with, right?" Jack further explained.
Zara's puzzled and curious gaze turned into surprise, "How did you know?"
She couldn't help but think back carefully but couldn't figure out where she had exposed her secret.
Jack didn't explain. With his vast experience in reading people and having suffered from love, there was nothing he couldn't see through.
Zara also immediately understood and lowered her head, nodding, "Yes."
"Since you've broken up, why do you still want to help him?" Jack stopped in front of the car, looking at her with a deep gaze.
Zara pursed her lips and smiled, "Actually, it's not about helping him. It's just that I owe someone a big favor, and coincidentally, he has a close relationship with that person."
Jack nodded and didn't say anything more.
He lowered his head and got into the car, while Zara stood outside, bidding him farewell.
As Jack's car left, another car came over.
Robert and Williams got out of the car.
As soon as Robert saw Zara, he seemed to have seen a pile of excrement, showing extreme disgust from his face to his heart.
He swayed over and didn't forget to cover his nose with his hand. "What's going on? Does your golf course receive all kinds of bottom-tier wolves?"
This remark was directed at the staff welcoming them, but it was aimed at Zara.
The staff felt awkward and didn't dare to refute, just smiling apologetically.
Zara, on the other hand, pretended not to hear him, acting as if she didn't see him at all and didn't even spare him a glance.
"Robert, if you don't know how to talk, then shut up. No one will think you're mute."
"What's the matter? Feeling hurt by my words? Does it hurt to think about mating her back?" Robert was used to being domineering and had little manners outside. He said whatever he wanted to say.
Williams glared at him and couldn't be bothered to pay any attention to him. He walked straight to Zara's side, "Zara, didn't expect to meet you here."
"Is that strange?" Robert interjected with an irritating tone, looking down on others. "Wherever Sterling goes, she follows. Either she's trying to cause trouble for Celeste and Sterling, or she's trying to break them up."
Zara didn't want to deal with this crazy cur, but seeing him constantly biting at her, she didn't want to endure it anymore.
She couldn't help but look at him, her lips curling into a smile, "If Sterling and Celeste are here, and you're here too, it seems like you also want to cause trouble for them, or perhaps, you want to break them up?"
"You..." Robert's face was full of anger, and the veins on his forehead twisted.
Zara wasn't scared by his appearance at all. Her gaze remained calm and composed, her lips curved into a half-smile.
The more she looked at him, the more uneasy Robert felt.
He felt as if she could see through his inner turmoil!
"What nonsense! I'm not someone like you!" He suddenly exploded with rage, shouting, "Stop using your dark thoughts to speculate about me, it's disgusting!"
Seeing Robert acting like a monkey, trying to cover his inner turmoil with anger, Zara suddenly felt that he was pitiful.
He clearly liked Celeste but pretended to be upright and honest.
She lifted her eyes and saw Sterling and Celeste walking side by side.
Not wanting to have any contact with the two of them, Zara ignored Robert and walked to the other side.
Her car was parked elsewhere, and the caddy was coming to fetch it in a few minutes.
If she had known that she would encounter people she didn't want to see here, she would have preferred to walk over and get her car.
Now, she just wanted to keep her distance from them as much as possible.
"Robert, Williams." Celeste seemed particularly excited, her voice clear like a nightingale. "Do you know who we met? It's Alpha Anderson."
She ran a few steps towards them, unable to hide her excitement, "Alpha Anderson is quite polite, not as difficult to get along with as others say. I explained your plans and the pros and cons of cooperation to him in detail, and he seems interested."
"Celeste, you're amazing!" Robert was Celeste's diehard fan and praised her immediately upon hearing her words.
Robert's flattery made Celeste even happier. "In my opinion, Alpha Anderson's unwillingness to cooperate with Sterling is not set in stone. He just needs someone to convince him."
Celeste always kept her goddess persona in mind, and when she said these things, she tried to suppress her excitement, speaking with a completely rational tone.
Williams listened to her twisted reasoning without saying a word, just sneering coldly from his nose.
He didn't want to bother with Celeste and walked towards Zara again, "Where are you going? Need a ride?"
"No, thank you," Zara replied politely to Williams.
They had only come with one car, and she really didn't want to have anything to do with Celeste and Robert.
Sterling had been standing at a distance, seemingly detached from the crowd.
Only when Williams came to Zara did he raise his head.
His gaze locked onto the two of them.
His brows furrowed.
When Williams said he wasn't worthy of Zara earlier, he took it as a joke.
But now, Williams seemed particularly close to Zara.
