Celeste, who was constantly paying attention to Sterling, felt a slight tremor in her heart when she saw his gaze fixed on the two of them.
Her fingers had already pinched under her sleeve.
What was wrong with Sterling? Why was he paying more and more attention to Zara?
After Celeste returned, she became extremely sensitive to these things.
Moreover, there were so many people here, and Sterling's gaze was only fixed on Zara. Where could she put her face?
No, she had to find a way to redirect Sterling's attention back to her.
It could only be focused on her!
Celeste was contemplating when Williams's phone rang.
"Alpha Anderson," Williams whispered and picked up the call.
Upon hearing the words "Alpha Anderson," everyone held their breath.
Williams's phone call lasted only about ten seconds. When he finished, his expression had already changed. "Alpha Anderson said he's willing to cooperate with us."
"Oh my Moon Goddess, that's great!" Celeste was the first to jump up, clapping her hands. She felt like it was divine intervention.
With excitement on her face and a gleam in her eyes, Celeste ran back to Sterling, "Sterling, I told you! Alpha Anderson is interested now. I convinced him successfully!"
"Celeste, you're amazing!" Robert's voice immediately followed, and he gave Celeste a thumbs-up.
He looked at Sterling with hidden meaning, "Celeste is the hero of this project now. Sterling, you better cherish her, so no one else snatches her away because she's too outstanding."
Celeste blushed at Robert's words, looking coy, "You're flattering me. I just casually helped out a bit. I'm not that great."
She was modest in her words, but her eyes revealed her true feelings. She saw herself as a hero.
Celeste deliberately flicked her hair and glanced at Zara.
Robert also noticed Zara again and sneered, "Some one put so much effort into using some dubious connections to cause trouble for our project and show off their abilities, but they were defeated by our Celeste."
"A cur wearing dragon robes is still a cur, and she can never be the princess."
His words were sharp, reaching the point of being unbearable.
Though he didn't name anyone, it was obvious he was talking about Zara.
Celeste needed someone like him—a spokesperson.
He said all the things she wanted to say to Zara!
It was so satisfying!
Celeste had been feeling suffocated by Zara's outstanding performance, and now she was feeling extremely relieved, her smile shining brightly.
However, she still admonished Robert, "Robert, no more reckless talk."
"Did I say anything wrong? Can you all honestly say she didn't come all the way from Celesterra just to cause trouble for us?"
This time, it was clear that Robert targeted Zara.
Zara smiled and remained silent, just as the car arrived.
Williams looked at Robert like he was looking at a fool and spoke before Zara got into the car, "Alpha Anderson said the reason he decided to invest in our project is because he trusted your judgment."
Ding!
His voice wasn't loud, but it seemed like a time stopper. Everyone, except Zara, was locked in place!
Robert's mouth was wide open, unable to believe it, and Celeste, unable to maintain her composure, blurted out, "How is that possible?"
"Yes, how is that possible!" Robert immediately joined in, "Williams, are you so biased towards Zara that you're making up such lies? Whose side are you on?"
Williams didn't want to waste time with him and pressed a button.
Immediately, they heard Jack's unique, steady, and deep voice on the other end, "Alpha Ripley, I'm willing to give a chance. You should thank Miss Silvermoon. It was because of her that I saw the good side of the project, and because of her qualities, I believe the partner she recommended are reliable."
"Also, remind your friend to choose their female partner wisely."
These were the words he had just recorded on a whim.
He had developed the habit over the years, and he didn't expect it to come in handy eventually.
Zara wasn't surprised by Jack's words. She had already guessed the outcome.
She lowered her head and got into the car.
The car left.
Sterling's gaze slowly fell on Zara's departing car, his eyes deep and his lips pressed tightly.
This outcome was completely unexpected for him.
Although Sterling didn't have as many suspicions as Celeste and Robert, he never imagined that one day, at a crucial moment in his life, his ex-mate, whom he had never looked at directly, would turned out so prominently.
She... was helping him.
And she helped him successfully!
At this moment, Celeste couldn't say a word and felt like she had turned mute. What had she just done?
She arrogantly claimed the credit for persuading Alpha Anderson to cooperate and allowed Robert to belittle Zara. Looking back now, she felt like a clown, putting on a terrible performance without even realizing it! She even thought she had performed excellently!
The worst part was that this clownish image was fully displayed in front of Sterling!
It was too embarrassing, too awkward!
She wanted to find a hole to hide in!
Celeste couldn't bear to stay any longer, so she covered her face and ran away.
Seeing her run off, Robert became anxious and shouted at Williams, "What's the meaning of this? Why didn't you speak up later? Are you on whose side?"
After yelling, he chased after Celeste.
Williams shrugged helplessly.
He wanted to say that they were just arguing back and forth like a comedy duo, and he had no chance to speak up. Moreover, he didn't want to say it in front of Zara. He wanted to leave them with some dignity.
But their words were too hurtful.
Why Zara supposed to be mocked like this?
In the end, he revealed the truth in front of Zara, just to remind those two fool.
However, they insisted on accusing him of making up lies.
So, he had to play the recording to remove their last shred of dignity.
After returning to the hotel, Zara took a refreshing shower.
The mission was completed, and she could finally go back.
Although Jack didn't specially invite her for a meal, he sent a large number of local specialties.
All of them were the most authentic products selected from the best places.
Finding the most genuine products was much more troublesome than simply buying them from a store.
But Jack personally went to pick and choose these items.
He was not one to show emotions openly, but through this gesture, it was evident how much he cared about Zara.
Zara looked at the pile of local specialties, feeling moved and helpless. It reminded her of the last sentence he said in the recording to Williams.
Although he didn't interfere much in her personal life on the surface, deep down, he still cared for her.
Her heart warmed.
Before leaving, Zara decided to bring some gifts back for Lyra, Arthur, and Freya.
With that in mind, she walked out of the room.
As soon as Zara opened the door, she saw a figure standing at the entrance.
The figure was tall, straight, and exuded an air of grace and confidence. His face was handsome like a painting, as if carved by the Moon Goddess herself.
Sterling.
