Lyra was too scared to tell Zara why. Just kept shaking and crying.
Zara's gut told her something was wrong. When she checked her body, she found tiny puncture wounds all over her arms and chest.
Rage burning through her, she snapped a photo and posted it to the parents' group: "Who hurt my daughter?"
"My son did exactly what I told him to," Celeste replied instantly, with a smug emoji.
Then came two photos that stopped Zara's heart.
One photo showed Sterling and Celeste at a mating ceremony.
The other was a family photo of Zara, Lyra, and Sterling.
"Karma's a bitch, isn't it? That's what happens when you steal someone's mate and have his bastard. Consider yourself lucky my pup didn't do worse."
The group chat exploded. Parents she'd known for months turned vicious, attacking her and Lyra.
Even Mrs. Thornfield, Lyra's teacher, jumped in: [Blake was such a good pup today! Extra star for him tomorrow!]
Celeste couldn't resist: [If you've got a problem, come face me. We're still at school. Unless you're scared...]
Zara strapped Lyra into the car and texted her lawyers:
[Prepare the bond dissolution papers. I'm going to leave with my daughter.]
[She was attacked at school. Send a team here right now. Charge whatever amount directly to my card. They will pay for this.]
At Moonrise Academy, Zara found Celeste surrounded by her new fan club.
"Celeste, you're so modest! We had no idea your mate is Alpha Ashford!"
"No wonder you always seemed different. That's real class!"
"We're all behind you. Can't let gold-diggers like her win."
"Right? Blake's the real heir to the Ashford Pack. Already showing Alpha traits!"
Mrs. Thornfield was practically bowing: "Just tell me Blake's favorite foods. I'll change the menu for him."
Celeste soaked it all in.

Mrs. Thornfield stepped forward, ice in her voice: "Turned out you are just a thridwheel. Considering the bad effect, Lyra is expelled. Effective immediately."
"My daughter gets attacked and you expel her?" Zara shot back.
"This is an elite school," she said coldly. "We can't have our reputation ruined by... such gold-digger like you."
Zara's voice went deadly quiet: "You might want to check who the real homewrecker is before you talk."
She didn't finish. Celeste's hand cracked across her face.
"How dare you show up here? You she-wolf who climbs up by using pups."
