Zara couldn't help but let out a sneer.
Explain? What else does Sterling want to explain?
Over the years, she'd been living in a loveless mating.
All of Sterling's love and concern seemed to be given to Celeste and Blake, even though Blake wasn't his biological pup.
Whenever Zara protested and told Sterling about her grievances, he would always interrupt her impatiently.
"Enough, Zara. You already have me and pack protection. Celeste has nothing now. She and Blake need more care than you do."
Now, Zara had completely given up on Sterling.
She said, "Let's sever our mating bond, Sterling."
"No! Zara, you are my forever mate and Luna." Kai said in panic.
The scene froze every parent in place. Their smartphones hung forgotten in mid-air.
The crowd that had been so sure of everything moments ago now stood in stunned silence.
"Did he just call her... his mate and Luna?"
"That can't be right. There must be some mistake."
The truth hit those originally high and mighty parents like a physical blow. Horror spread across their faces as they realized what they'd done.
Zara turned to the officer, her voice arctic. "I need to get my daughter's injuries treated. But I want everyone involved charged to the fullest extent of the law."
"We'll handle it," he assured her, already directing his team to take the perpetrators into custody.
Zara's lawyer handed her the bond dissolution papers. She looked at these thin sheets of paper and found it rather ridiculous in her heart.
She had spent four years proving to him that she loved him, not the position of Luna Ashford and his money.
In the end, she had lost everything!
When it was time to put in the effort, she gave it all.
When it was time to end it, she couldn't be weak and hesitant!
She threw the papers at him, "I am serious about the bond dissolution, I don't want a penny from the Ashford pack, I don't want any of your money!"
After finishing speaking, she only heard a "thud" as the papers was thrown into the trash can.
"Get the facts straight before you go crazy!" Sterling's patience with her quickly ran out and he began to become very irritable.
"This is all a misunderstanding... I said I could give you an explanation. Now the situation is already chaotic enough. Stop making a fuss."
Zara knew that Sterling didn't take her words seriously. Just like the rest of the Ashford pack, they thought that she was from an rural and uneducated, had no pack background and no job. If she left him, he was certain that she couldn't survive.
"Don't worry, I know very well about my situation." Zara picked up the agreement, brushed it lightly, and handed it back to him.
"It's too late now to go through the procedures. Let's meet tomorrow morning at nine o'clock. I'll see you there."
After saying that, she got into the car with Lyra in her arms and drove away.
Inside the car, Zara put down all her disguises, leaned back on the seat and gasped for breath.
Being used to crawling under his feet, such actions required a bit of courage.
Deciding to give up was overwhelming.
Separating from the person she had loved for nearly ten years, resolutely leaving, was painful indeed.
They were really in love back then. How did things get so messed up?
Spending four and a half years to learned that an Alpha didn't love her, perhaps this was the worst deal she had ever made in her life.
The next day, Zara arrived at the The Sacred Bond Registry on time. She had been waiting for an hour, but still didn't see Sterling.
She could only send him a message, asking him to give this four-year mating a decent ending.
She didn't know how much time passed before Sterling finally showed up late.
He stood in front of the car, his attractive and commanding appearance resembling a painting.
Immediately after, bitterness followed.
If she had known it would end up like this, perhaps she wouldn't have made that risky decision back then?
Zara subconsciously touched her left eye, almost no one knew that she had lost the ability to see with her left eye.
Suppressing the complex emotions inside, she quickly approached, handing the papers back to him.
"I have signed it. You just need to sign, and then we can go through the procedure."
Sterling became rigid for a moment. Yet he said nothing more and signed.
Without few days, Kai confirmed that Zara would crawl back to her.
After all, she had nowhere to go.
The procedure proceeded quickly. They filled out several forms, and the staff stamped them.
"We have a thirty-day consideration period. Within thirty days, if either of you doesn't want to proceed with the process, it can be revoked."
"Is it possible to skip the consideration period and directly issue the bond dissolution certificate?" Zara asked, wanting to resolve everything quickly.
"No, it's not allowed." The staff shook their heads.
Zara could only look at Sterling. Sterling said nothing and walked out.
She had no choice but to receive the notification paper and sign.
Zara quickly caught up to Sterling. "Sterling, let's meet after a month..."
Before she could finish saying "month," Sterling forcefully closed the car door.
The car drove away, leaving only a cold gust of wind.
Zara had no other option but to shake her head in discontent. It wasn't worth it from the very beginning to mate such a selfish and indifferent person.
Standing in place for a while, she made a phone call. "I'm single now. Come pick me up."
