"Lyra!"
Not until I shouted did a surprised smile bloom on the pup's face. She quickly ran towards me. "Mama!"
I bent down and embraced the little pup.
Following me, Freya also approached. "Hello, little one. My name is Freya, can I be your friend?"
Lyra looked at the person in front of her curiously and then hid herself beside me.
I held her hand and smiled as I watched this scene.
Lyra is the most precious thing to me, and protecting her has always been my most important mission.
Anyone who hurt Lyra crossed my bottom line. That's why I didn't hesitate to bring up bond dissolution with Sterling.
Lyra's arrival was an accident, but I think it's the best gift that the Moon Goddess has ever given me.
In the past four years, Sterling had never touched me, our mating bond was as cold as ice, he also cared for Lyra so little, which created Lyra's timid and cowardly personality.
Considering the unfavorable pack environment for Lyra's development, I decided to choose a full-time academy for her, so Lyra only came home on weekends.
Lyra looked at Freya with a little unease, until I conveyed encouragement through my eyes, the little pup nodded gently, "Yes."
"Very good, let's have a sumptuous meal, my dear."
Freya reached out and held Lyra in her arms, allowing me to drive.
I was not declined either, I jumped up and pressed the accelerator forcefully, feeling the joy of driving in the wind.
Third-Person's POV
Shortly after the three of them left, the Ashford pack's car also arrived at the academy.
Sterling, always busy, lowered his head to handle the documents in his hands, his face cold without any expression.
The beta got out of the car on his own.
"Alpha, this is the new academy that Luna transferred Miss Lyra to. However, we've just learned that she has already picked up Miss Lyra."
Sterling's finger suddenly paused, and a hint of coldness flashed across his icy face.
He couldn't figure it out. Wasn't it just that Lyra was pushed by Blake? Was it really necessary to even change academies?
"It can be seen that Luna doesn't really want to dissolve the bond with you. Taking the pup away is a signal to you, that Luna wants to come back." The beta said, exhaling lightly, looking at him as if waiting for Sterling to give the order to bring her back.
"Go back!" But Sterling said coldly.
His eyebrows furrowed tightly.
He wanted Zara to come back on her own, he wanted her to know that living honestly and sincerely was better than using tricks and schemes in front of him!
Zara's POV
Time passed quickly, just in the blink of an eye, thirty days had passed.
Tomorrow will be the day to receive bond dissolution papers from Sterling.
Perhaps because I had long accepted the reality of bond dissolution, I became extremely calm.
After putting Lyra to sleep, Freya and I sat in the living room, drinking wine and chatting.
These past days, I almost spent all my time with Lyra, wanting to make up for the years of absence of affection for the little pup.
Seeing the smile on her face becoming brighter every day, I felt my heart at ease and increasingly believed that leaving Sterling was the right decision.
"Everyone wonders why I came back. In fact, it's very simple, this is my home, where I belong."
The two of us were chatting when a beautiful voice suddenly rang out.
I couldn't help but look up and glance at the television screen opposite, where Celeste was smiling, her eyes full of meaning.
In front of the screen, the flashlights of the reporters kept flashing and then went out.
"If that's the case, it means Miss Celeste has found her place to belong and she is in this territory?" The reporters were very sensitive, they picked up extraneous information and kept asking questions.
Celeste just smiled without saying anything, but the curve of happiness on the corner of her lips revealed everything.
"If it weren't for you, after that shameful incident, she would have been ridiculed by everyone. But now, she's back as if nothing happened, destroying your mating bond without any shame!" Freya also saw Celeste on TV, unable to contain her anger. "Such a terrible bitch, Sterling still treasures her like a treasure. It's so satisfying to see the consequences of his betrayal. I hope he chokes on it!"
She slammed the cup on the table. "If it were me, even if I had to close my eyes, I would choose you instead of her!"
I listened to her words and couldn't help but laugh. "Perhaps this is the difference between love and non-love."
Sterling loved Celeste, so he could overlook her betrayal four years ago.
As long as she shed just two tears, everything could be forgiven, and even helping to raise her pup was possible.
Not loving me, even if there was a hidden truth behind the "forced mating," he didn't bother to listen.
"Even if you dissolve the bond, I won't let this cruel pair live a good life!"
Freya was straightforward. She was the type of person who could clearly distinguish between friends and foes, with her hands on her hips, acting like a warrior preparing for battle.
I, on the other hand, was more indifferent. "Whether their lives are good or not is not important to me. I just want to live well with Lyra, and that's enough."
However, when I thought about not telling Lyra about the bond dissolution, my mood became heavy.
Third-Person's POV
The next morning.
Sterling went downstairs like any other day, his head lowered as he adjusted his cufflinks, dressed neatly, his face devoid of emotion.
"Alpha, it's Luna on the phone." The beta came, with joy on his face.
Sterling went to answer without saying anything.
On the other end of the line, Zara's voice was calm and polite. "When are you free? I'm at the café below your pack's company building."
Sterling looked up and glanced at the calendar hanging on the wall.
After enduring for over twenty days, was she finally unable to bear it anymore?
She said to meet at the café, and he thought that she probably wanted to apologize and reconcile.
He didn't respond, nor did he care about her words afterward, and he hung up.
Zara's POV
I couldn't hear his reaction, not understanding what he meant.
Although I knew that he would definitely proceed with the bond dissolution, I still hoped for a quick resolution, so I went down to wait at his company building.
When Sterling's car arrived, a slender figure appeared right below the company building.
He muttered to himself, with a disgusted expression on his face.
I saw him and a bright smile appeared on my face. "Here you are."
Sterling was cold. "If you knew it from the beginning, why did you go through all of this?"
I was startled, not understanding what he meant.
Not bothering to pay attention, I simply said, "Let's talk at the café."
Sterling showed no interest in wasting time with me. "Just say it clearly here!"
"Fine." Since he didn't care about people knowing about our bond dissolution, I didn't either.
I swiftly opened my tablet and tapped on a video interface.
"The Sacred Bond Registry understands that everyone is busy, so they have implemented a video work system. This allows the staff to confirm our identities through video, and all we need to do is press a button to have our bond dissolution certificate delivered to our doorstep. It saves us the trouble of going to collect it."
To be honest, this convenient service is truly thoughtful.
Sterling: "..."
He thought I wanted to apologize and turn back, but the result was... asking for bond dissolution?
"Sterling Ashford, Zara Silvermoon, do both of you definitely want to dissolve your mating bond?" A middle-aged woman's face quickly appeared on the screen, she increased the volume and asked.
Because I was using a microphone and my tablet had good audio quality, the sound spilled out loudly.
Pack members rushing to work suddenly heard this sentence and all turned their heads, looking in this direction with astonishment.
"Definitely." I didn't hesitate at all, I pressed the confirmation button above.
Sterling: "..."
He looked at that button, then at me without any hesitation, his eyes filled with darkness.
