It was Dante!
A sneer—
Another gasp resounded, and everyone's gaze turned towards Dante.
I was also surprised as I looked at him.
"Dante, you..." Celeste looked at him in confusion.
Dante stood up. "Miss Celeste wants to wear it at her mating ceremony, and I want to get mated too. My mate likes it very much, so I must get it for her!"
This time, Sterling didn't bid anymore. He just looked at me deeply and then led Celeste away without saying a word.
Dante received the diamond crown. After making the final payment, he handed it to me. "Zara, it's for you."
"You... got it for me?" I looked at him in astonishment.
I truly believed that he only had eyes for the she-wolf he liked!
"Yeah." Dante nodded seriously.
"Are you crazy?"
"This diamond crown is not worth it, you don't have to be so foolish!" I truly felt sorry for him.
"The diamond crown may not be worth it, but you are worth it." Dante remained serious, his eyes shining brightly.
Did I see love in his eyes?
Dazzling.
Finally, I accepted the crown, but I requested Freya to transfer 100 million dollars from my account to Dante.
I wanted to repay him in full that night.
"Zara, if it weren't for you, I wouldn't know where to wait for death. If you keep insisting on being fair with me, then I can't stay at Starlight Media!"
This young Alpha...
I just wanted to return the money. Why was it so difficult?
Third-Person's POV
At the entrance of the auction house, Celeste struggled to catch up with Sterling.
"Sterling, it's just a crown, I don't care."
A pensive expression appeared on Celeste's face.
"I won't get the crown for you," Sterling said indifferently.
Seeing Zara bidding for the diamond crown, he suddenly remembered that Zara had expressed a bit of regret on their mating night: "I really wanted to have a grand mating ceremony and wear a diamond-made crown."
Although Zara had dissolved their bond by now, he knew she wasn't capable of it, and he couldn't let her deceive herself.
He had warned her beforehand but decided to buy it for her.
If Zara wanted to bid against him out of anger, then compensating her after the bond dissolution was also reasonable.
However, the outcome wasn't good. Beside Zara, there was a Dante, who was willing to spend a lot of money on her.
The more Dante was willing to spend on Zara, the more despicable Sterling seemed to be.
Clearly, this mating was something Zara was determined to get at all costs in Sterling's view.
What reason did he have to be good to a she-wolf who he thought had conspired against him?
It hurt!
His chest felt as if it froze like a stone!
Celeste looked around in confusion.
She had intended to create a gentle, tender, and caring appearance, but she didn't expect Sterling to be so heartless.
Luckily, there was no one around, otherwise, her face would have hurt like being slapped twice.
Although there were no reporters at the auction venue, the news that Dante spent 100 million dollars to buy a diamond crown for Zara spread in the upper-class pack society.
One morning, Diana answered countless calls, all of them asking about this matter.
"Damn it, Zara, she's just a piece of trash that the Ashford pack doesn't want, yet Dante spent so much money on her!"
Diana's heart, liver, spleen, and stomach felt like they were boiling in hot water when she thought that her favorite idol, in her dreams, might have called her a few more times and spent so much money on someone like Zara.
There was nowhere that didn't annoy her! "Is Dante blind? Even if she's useless, she's bond-dissolved and has a pup! If it were me, even if Zara shined my shoes, I would feel dirty!"
Pamela's complexion wasn't great either.
Yesterday she had heard about Diana being humiliated by someone else, and only Dante and Zara dared to challenge them like this.
"Doesn't Dante know Zara has a pup? This she-wolf can always deceive, so she must have deceived Dante," Diana speculated.
"Dante knows!"
Pamela's words only made Diana's mood worse.
"I've heard all about it. Dante not only knows but also took Zara and that bastard pup ice-skating!"
Because Diana knew that Dante didn't care about Zara having a pup, she became even more desperate.
She, as the noble daughter of the Ashford pack, had confessed her love to Dante but was straightforwardly rejected by him!
In Diana's view, she was much superior to Zara in every way! The more Diana thought about it, the more annoyed she became.
"Mother, Zara won't make us happy after the bond dissolution, so let's make her feel uncomfortable!" She suggested to Pamela with determination.
"Since Zara has left the Ashford pack, let's consider her as dead and not bother with her anymore, so as not to diminish our own value." Pamela cared most about her own reputation and told Diana, "However, there's still an important thing to do now."
Diana thought that Pamela had no intention of helping her, and she became so angry that she wanted to jump up. But when she clearly heard what Pamela wanted to do to Zara, Diana became happily calm again.
"She is still a formidable mother, hitting her killing spot. This time, she'll suffer!"
Zara's POV
Today Freya had a day off, so she and I took Lyra to academy and then stayed at the academy to check on her.
Lyra said she didn't like this academy, so I took this opportunity to change academies for her so that nothing would happen to the Ashford pack anymore.
The two of us walked and talked, inevitably discussing the auction last night.
Speaking of Sterling willingly exerting all his efforts to compete for the crown with me for Celeste's sake, Freya gritted her teeth with hatred. "Sterling is truly a fool. His greatest talent in life is oppressing you. Fortunately, Dante was quite clever and he had helped you regain your dignity, allowing him to see firsthand just how popular you, Zara, have become."
When Dante was mentioned, I couldn't help but take a deep breath.
The diamond crown purchased for $100 million now felt like a burning flame to me.
I wasn't greedy for money, and I didn't want to be greedy.
Before I could come up with a solution, my phone rang.
I lowered my head to answer, and on the other end came a cold voice, "11:30, Ames Café, be on time!"
It wasn't until the call was disconnected that I remembered the voice belonged to my ex-mother-in-law, Pamela.
