"If it weren't for me helping you back then, what would have become of the Ashford pack?" I stared intently at his face, tilting my head, smiling but not genuinely.
At that time, his pack company, Genesis Group, was preparing for listing, and the preparations had taken two years.
And 80% of the products were represented by Celeste's endorsing.
But as soon as the truth about Celeste's affair became apparent, the Ashford pack bore the direct losses!
The company couldn't be listed, rendering Sterling's two years of dedication useless!
Sales plummeted significantly, and Genesis Group was facing an unprecedented financial crisis!
He had been betrayed and would become the laughingstock of the entire territory!
The decision made back then was truly daring, showing how deep my love for Sterling was.
Sterling and I stared at each other for a few seconds.
During those moments, I felt a little warmth in my heart.
So, he knew he had benefited.
"Don't talk nonsense, where is Lyra?" Diana was afraid that Sterling would be convinced by me, so she quickly interjected.
After speaking, she pulled Sterling again. "Brother, this she-wolf is full of schemes, don't let her deceive you."
"Exactly, Sterling." Pamela also approached, "No matter what happened in the past, now that you two are bond-dissolved, the pup's issue needs to be resolved!"
Sterling's gaze shifted according to Diana's words.
"Zara, didn't you just want to divide your share? Consult with a lawyer to discuss it with me. Now, I want Lyra!" he said.
"Ha!"
My heart grew colder.
What had I done? How could I have expected such a heartless and cold-hearted pack to show any mercy?
I was even willing to make a final effort to avoid tearing apart the relationship just for Lyra's sake.
Sterling still saw me as a money-minded person, always thinking about his money!
If he had already determined me as someone who loved money, then no matter how hard I tried, it would be useless. Why waste my time?
I suppressed the feelings of despair and anger within me, and when I looked up, there was no expression on my face.
"Do you truly want to take care of Lyra?" I asked.
These repetitive words had worn away Sterling's already limited patience, and his feet felt numb and painful.
Sterling furrowed his cold brow, only sneering without making a sound.
Diana chuckled, "There are too many unnecessary words!"
"Don't answer hastily, look at this first."
After speaking, she bowed her head and made a phone call, "Come here."
Within two minutes, a car arrived.
Freya stepped out of the car.
"Why did you invite Freya?" Seeing Freya, Diana immediately became vigilant, "Do you want to reenact the old tricks and bring these issues to the internet?"
I didn't respond and simply ignored her.
This made Diana feel like a small puppet in front of me, completely powerless. Her face turned dark.
Her words became even more malicious.
"Let me tell you, even if you live-streamed the whole world, it would be useless! Lyra is a descendant of the Ashford pack, and no one can change that!"
"I advise you to be obedient, to honestly hand the pup back to us. My brother can give you some money, maybe it will help you a little!"
"Ha!"
Freya laughed out of place.
Diana, who was short-sighted, only knew that the Ashford pack was rich.
My money was surplus to the point where I didn't know what to do with it. Did I need to rely on her little profit?
But Diana continued to speak incessantly, becoming even more crude, "Two million dollars, is that enough? The Chairman of Starlight Media is wealthy, but it all belongs to him. You can try begging him like this and ask him for help. With these two million dollars, at least you can save some face for yourself!"
"We and the Ashford pack don't owe you anything either!"
After Diana finished speaking, Freya spoke up, "Rest assured, not only Zara but also Lyra, we will make sure you have nothing to worry about."
She took out a piece of paper and raised it in front of everyone, "This is a full authorization document. The chairman of my company has authorized me to conduct a paternity test. Take a look for yourselves!"
"What kind of test is this?" All three of them were surprised.
Sterling looked at her, not understanding.
Diana was the first to receive the test report and read it aloud.
"99.99% DNA match accuracy? Biological relationship? The person tested is Lyra Silvermoon? Who is Lyra Silvermoon?"
"Lyra is Lyra," I replied coldly.
Initially, Lyra had the Ashford surname, but recently it changed to Silvermoon.
"So... this paternity test is between the chairman of Starlight and Lyra?" Sterling immediately understood, but as if a bomb exploded, Sterling's gaze became increasingly tense, turning from confusion to anger, directed straight at me!
"Yes." I calmly replied, paying no attention to his gaze. "This paternity test is between the chairman of Starlight and Lyra."
I was not lying.
It was indeed a test conducted using samples of my own hair and Lyra's.
"So, for the past four years, you let us raise someone else's pup?" Pamela had never suffered such humiliation before, and her lips trembled with anger.
"Luna Ashford, please clarify. Lyra has never used any of the pack's money." Freya reminded her.
All expenses for Lyra were borne by me myself, which Pamela understood best.
However, this also made the pack very angry.
"Zara, how dare you blame someone else's bastard on my brother! And you still have the face to say the mating was for the benefit of the Ashford pack!" Diana was so furious that she wanted to grab me by the hair.
Freya simply used one hand to stop her.
"Miss Ashford, a graceful she-wolf like you, who would dare to accept you when you act like such a despicable she-wolf?"
"You!" Diana was so angry that her stomach was tied in knots, but she had to restrain herself.
Freya had considerable influence and held strong media connections. If I was unlucky and she secretly filmed and broadcasted her images nationwide, it would truly be the end.
Pamela approached again, her breath unstable, her heart racing rapidly and painfully.
She could only try to maintain her image, looking at Freya, "Isn't the chairman of Starlight going too far?"
"Luna, if you do not bully others, how could they possibly bully you?" Freya said a profoundly meaningful sentence.
"Regardless, Lyra has nothing to do with the Ashford pack anymore. We shouldn't create any more trouble for the pup's future!"
After speaking, she pulled me along, "Let's go."
"Okay." I followed her into the car.
When opening the car door, Freya looked back at Sterling, "Sterling, rest assured, in the future, Starlight Media will belong to Lyra and also to Zara. Your couple million dollars are not enough to stuff in her pockets. It's better to give Diana a few more sets of nice clothes."
"Damn it, damn it!"
Diana heard mockery in Freya's words, and she became so furious that her face distorted. She shouted loudly.
She couldn't accept this she-wolf, Freya, criticizing her as if she was inferior!
Then, Diana pushed Sterling, "Zara deceived us like this, should we just let it go?"
"And the chairman of Starlight Media has no grudge against us. Why should we endure humiliation?"
"Oh, right." Freya's voice came again, "Don't you really feel aggrieved, didn't Zara help your pack when she mated into your pack? Alpha Ashford's compensation is not used, it is written off."
After saying what needed to be said, she got into the car.
The car drove away.
Through the rearview mirror, I could still see Diana's anger, Pamela's shattered image, and Sterling's unclear emotions as he clenched his fists.
Freya worriedly said, "This means that in the future, it will be impossible to reconcile with the Ashford pack. Aren't you regretful?"
