The sudden rush of that killing intent and the roaring motorcycle really startled me, and my face changed in an instant!
With my enhanced she-wolf senses, I recognized the person on the motorcycle right away—it was Jared.
He wasn't even wearing a helmet.
His face was all contorted, with this cold and really menacing look in his eyes, and he was just twisting the motorcycle's accelerator, making that engine roar even louder!
He bared his teeth and charged towards me like he was out to run me over!
My gaze quickly shifted from his face and landed on his hands.
I noticed his hand twitching rather noticeably.
That subtle movement didn't escape my she-wolf senses, and I couldn't help but curl my lips slightly, already figuring something out.
In no time at all, Jared's motorcycle was getting closer, and he showed no signs of slowing down at all.
He probably thought I'd scream in fright and make a total fool of myself.
But I just calmly crossed my arms and watched him in a rather leisurely way, like I was playing with him or something.
Jared was clearly dumbfounded.
He'd come to pick a fight with me.
Last night, his mother, Violet, had said that Celeste would deal with me.
He'd been waiting eagerly all night, but nothing happened!
Frustrated with Celeste's unreliability and unable to hold back his anger, he decided to take matters into his own hands and come looking for me.
Even though he was acting all brash, he didn't actually have the guts to hit a she-wolf. This whole intimidating act was just meant to scare me.
Yet I didn't react the way he expected at all.
Jared must have felt so shocked and defeated.
As the motorcycle got really close, he didn't have the nerve to actually hit me.
Just when he was about to turn the motorcycle around, suddenly there was this loud bang, and it felt like his internal organs got all twisted from the impact!
When he finally came to his senses, he realized that a car had come out of nowhere and was now right between him and me.
Jared's motorcycle crashed straight into the other car's door, and that dilapidated motorcycle just shattered into several pieces in an instant.
The other car's door was dented too!
Jared was knocked down by the impact and was groaning in pain, struggling to get up for a while.
Just as he was about to get angry and say something, he looked up and saw the model of the other car, and his mouth just opened wide in an "O" shape.
He couldn't get a single word out!
A man in a suit got out of the car.
"Are you okay?" He asked me.
I looked up at him.
The man was in his twenties or thirties, with a square face and a really trendy hairstyle. His hair on top fell like bangs, while the lower part was neatly trimmed.
"I'm fine," I replied politely.
"Hey, you crashed into me!" On the ground, Jared rubbed his waist and complained, putting on this painful expression.
"You've hurt me and damaged my motorcycle. How are you going to compensate me?"
The man walked up to Jared and said, "Jared, if I didn't crash into you, you would have killed someone. Don't talk about compensation. Take this fifty dollars, buy some cigarettes, and leave."
"As for that broken motorcycle, it should have been scrapped long ago."
After hearing his words, Jared immediately backed off, took the money without saying a word, and then left.
I just silently watched the man's every move and was relieved to finally see Jared leaving.
"Don't worry, Jared is all talk and no action. He won't bother you again," the man walked back to me and said.
He had this smile in his eyes and was being really enthusiastic.
"Thank you," I said calmly.
Even though I didn't really need any help with my she-wolf abilities, I still thought it was right to express my gratitude.
"Zara, you're too polite to me." The man ruffled his hair and then, to my surprise, called my name.
I looked at him with a bit of shock, my gaze fixed on his face.
"I'm Jagger. We used to be classmates," the man introduced himself proactively.
I suddenly remembered that there was indeed such a person in my primary and middle school classes.
Jagger was driving an imported BMW, the kind that costs over two million dollars.
It was clear that he'd done really well for himself over the years.
Seeing me looking at his car, Jagger walked over and patted it. "I've been doing alright following my father these years."
He was being quite modest.
When I was younger, Jagger's father had become the richest wolf in the territory.
Now, judging by Jagger's appearance, he was probably still the wealthiest in the area.
"Your car door is damaged; how much will it cost to fix it? I'll pay," I said rather indifferently, pulling my gaze away.
"No need, no need." Jagger shook his head firmly. "This minor damage can be covered by insurance."
He walked back and stood in front of me again, his gaze filled with this deep affection. "Zara, I heard that you came back yesterday and that you were bullied by Jared's family. I was originally planning to go to the pack enforcers to help you, but by the time I arrived, you and your father had already left."
"I thought you must have been tired, so I didn't disturb you."
I could see there was something he wanted to say in his eyes.
I pretended not to notice and said, "If the insurance doesn't cover it, remember to come to me."
After speaking, I nodded politely and turned to leave.
However, Jagger suddenly grabbed my arm. "Zara, I heard about your bond dissolution. I know you brought your pup back."
"Zara, I like you. I've liked you since we were in elementary school. I've been single all these years. Can you be my mate?"
I turned back, looking really surprised.
Even though we were classmates, I never knew he had feelings for me.
Thinking I might have some concerns, Jagger quickly added, "Don't worry, I won't mind that you have a pup. In the future, I'll treat her like my own pup and never mistreat her!"
This sudden confession caught me completely off guard, and I was left speechless for a while.
"Hey!"
An unpleasant sound interrupted the moment.
Jagger heard it too; it was someone gathering around to watch and making a commotion.
He turned his head to look at them.
When he saw the other person's face, Jagger was stunned.
To him, it was a completely unfamiliar face.
No, it was three faces!
The person leading the group had this smirk on his face, one corner of his lips curling up with disdain.
His eyes were giving off this mocking glare, which made Jagger feel uncomfortable, but since he didn't know them, he didn't dare to say anything.
The person snorted and then walked up to me.
"Zara, why bother with all this? You already had your bond dissolved, yet you're still trying to find out about Sterling's whereabouts and following us here."
I'd actually noticed the three of them earlier.
My gaze had been fixed on the alpha and she-wolf first, so I kind of overlooked the man in front of me.
"Robert!"
The she-wolf among the pair exclaimed, seeming to disapprove of his hurtful words.
The she-wolf was none other than Celeste.
She was dressed in white and looked so graceful and charming, with this stunning aura about her.
The alpha beside her was, of course, Sterling.
At this moment, although Celeste and Sterling weren't holding hands, they were standing really close, and you could just feel this intimacy between them.
Sterling pursed his lips; his eyes were deep and mysterious, with those bottomless dark pupils.
He seemed lost in thought, his eyebrows slightly furrowed.
Robert sneered and tilted his face towards Sterling and Celeste, subtly suggesting to me that he'd caught me red-handed.
"Do you think that by staging a fake confession scene with another male, Sterling will change his mind? What a ridiculous pipe dream!"
Robert was never one to be polite with his words.
"What are you talking about? I'm not pretending." Jagger felt uncomfortable with Robert's words and quickly explained.
As the wealthiest person in the territory, why would he stage such a drama?
Robert just chuckled, not believing him for a second.
"Don't fool around. If she hadn't followed us, how could she have ended up in this remote place?"
