Robin casually tilted his head and tapped his ear. "I've already asked Freya to contact Drift King. If she can join the race, it will be interesting."
Thunder Strike and Drift King.
Anyone with a little knowledge of racing would recognize these two names.
They were absolute top-notch figures in the racing world.
Thunder Strike was Robin himself, while Drift King's true identity remained unknown to the public.
Celeste didn't care much about whether Drift King would come or not.
Despite spending years abroad, she never gave up on racing and achieved decent results. Though she might not be able to beat Robin, getting second place was still respectable.
Sterling would surely be impressed if he saw it. She wanted to showcase her excellence in front of Sterling.
"Sterling, can you join us?" She coaxed Sterling again.
Sterling pursed his lips and looked at Celeste. "What about your eyes... Are they alright?"
"Eyes?"
It suddenly dawned on Celeste that she had just checked her eyes and was told that her left eye had almost zero vision. Cold sweat silently emerged from her back. For a moment, she almost couldn't hold herself and stumbled.
But she quickly composed herself and said, "Don't worry, I'm used to it."
"Okay, then." Sterling nodded.
He didn't want to get involved in the excitement, but considering all that Celeste had done for him, he couldn't refuse her this time.
Seeing Sterling agree, Celeste felt extremely happy.
Sterling put on a facade of being sweet and nice in front of Robin, showering her with pampering and indulgence. She was extremely pleased and content.
She tiptoed and leaned in to kiss his cheek, but Sterling instinctively turned slightly, almost avoiding it. However, the avoidance wasn't very apparent, and it appeared to outsiders that Celeste had successfully kissed him.
Celeste stiffened, feeling embarrassed. But when she realized this, she quickly reined in her disappointment and put on a coquettish smile.
However, Robin, who was standing near by the side, saw all of this.
He pressed his lips together and used his thumb to subtly press against his lips, saying, "Celeste, some things would lose value if you ask for them initially. And if you even can't get it, there's no chance in the future."
His words carried deep meaning.
Celeste had wanted Sterling to accompany her in the race, and if Sterling truly loved her from the bottom of his heart, he wouldn't make her beg and would have agreed immediately.
How could an alpha remain indifferent when he knew his beloved she-wolf was participating in a dangerous activity?
Avoiding her kiss in front of him seemed also like he hadn't fully accepted her.
As an alpha, Robin understood the thoughts of other alphas very well.
Celeste was clever, and as soon as she heard his words, she immediately understood. Her face turned red, and tears welled up in her eyes.
She looked at Sterling silently.
Sterling furrowed his brows slightly and embraced Celeste with some remorse. He looked at Robin and said, "Don't apply those theories haphazardly to us." He straightforwardly protected himself, making Celeste feel better.
There was a moment of silence before Robin finally spoke and gave Celeste the time and location of the race.
He hopped into his car and drove away, leaving nothing but silence in his wake.
Zara's POV
On the other side, in the car, Freya continued to persuade me, "Come on, it's a rare opportunity. Besides, the company business isn't that busy now, and you have nothing else to do."
I still had a calm expression, "Lyra is waiting for me to get home, and it's been ages since I saw my dad. He must be worried."
"Don't worry," Freya said, waving her phone proudly. "I've called your father. When he heard that you were out with me, he told me to take you out and have a good time. He probably doesn't want you to come back for a whole week!"
"As for Lyra," she went on, "she asked me to film a video of your race to show her."
I: "..."
Both my own father and my little pup had switched to her side. What could I do?
"Anyway, we're not competing for anything. Just think of it as a way to relax. I, the NO.1 co-pilot, haven't enjoyed the limelight for four years. Can't you give me this chance to shine?"
Before, Freya and I had worked together as co-pilots, and our hard work had led to excellent outcomes in many races. I noticed her pitiful expression and nodded in agreement without saying a word.
Seeing me nod, Freya leaned over and gave me a kiss on the cheek excitedly.
I was frightened, "Focus on your driving. Watch the road..."
Third-person's POV
In the soft glow of the evening light, Celeste emerged at the racetrack, dressed in a white racing suit. Her long hair cascaded over the back of her head, and her fair skin and beauty were accentuated by the white racing outfit.
With Sterling, an alpha who was excellent both inside and out, accompanying her, she immediately attracted everyone's attention when she entered.
"They are together now."
"They are truly a perfect couple."
"Didn't Sterling say he had problems with his eyes and rarely..."
"Can he join this kind of activity?"
"Can't he accompany his she-wolf since he care about her?"
"Speaking of which, Celeste is quite outstanding; she is not only a celebrity but also skilled in racing."
Every single word of these scattered comments reached Celeste's ears intact. It was exactly what she wanted. She smiled gracefully and nodded politely to the crowd. Then, she approached Sterling, coming closer to him.
Those who could participate in such activities were mostly from wealthy packs. The upper class would be able to tell instantly that they had reunited, even without any verbal confirmation.
Robin stood far away, leaning against a car, looking lazy. He saw through Celeste's elegant goddess facade; he felt it was all just a pretense.
Robin was different from Sterling.
He had been with many she-wolves, and as a result, he had developed a keen eye for detecting a she-wolf's true nature. He found that Celeste acted like a goddess on the surface, but in reality, she was petty, vain, and materialistic. He even thought she-wolves like her more repulsive than those who openly talked about money.
Of course, he didn't bother meddling in other wolves' affairs.
Meanwhile, Celeste basked in the admiration and compliments from the crowd, hooking her arm with Sterling's as they walked toward Robin. She knew that Robin didn't like her, but Sterling was the ultimate decision-maker. She has plotted to manipulate Sterling in order to silence Robin's critical voice and prevent him from judging her with bias later on.
With this in mind, she arrived in front of Robin and was about to speak when she saw him holding his phone and suddenly running away!
His steps were fast and urgent, and a gust of wind brushed past her as he passed by. Throughout the whole process, Robin didn't even spare her a glance.
Celeste: "..."
Seeing Robin run, others also followed suit.
"What... just happened?" Celeste pulled someone else to ask.
