While Robin's heart was pounding, and his hands were busy controlling the steering wheel, he had no time to deal with Sterling's call.
When the phone rang, Michael was the one who answered and passed on the message to Sterling, repeating it a few times so he could hear it properly.
"Tell him the race has already started, and I can't end it just because he says so!" He yelled loudly, but the wind muffled his voice.
However, Sterling still heard it. He squeezed the phone, his knuckles turning blue.
He never knew that Zara could go to such extremes when she went mad!
After a long time, he slowly turned his gaze back to the screen.
Upon seeing the screen, his gaze suddenly sharpened!
Locked on!
The car that was previously swerving dangerously was now leaping into the air as it passed the final bend!
"Ah!"
"It's over!"
Many wolves watching the race exclaimed, and they could already imagine the impact when the car fell back to the ground.
Such an impact could be lethal!
Zara and Freya were doomed!
Some even took out their phones, intending to call the pack healers, definitely sure there was going to be a tragedy.
"Oh, my Moon Goddess! Oh, my Moon Goddess! Oh, my Moon Goddess!"
The screen captured Robin and Michael catching up.
The screen didn't switch fast enough, so everyone could only see their expressions blur.
"Quick, switch the screen!" Someone anxiously pushed the technician, wishing they could turn into a race car and crash the damn slow technician!
The screen finally switched.
What everyone saw was only Celeste's car, driving forward all alone.
"Where are Zara and Freya?"
"Did they crash?"
"Can you see the wreckage of the car?"
"What a pity."
Sterling stared at the screen.
He only saw Celeste's car.
His grip tightened!
Even though he hated Zara deeply, he never wanted her to die...
He never expected that one day, because of Zara, he would feel his heart pounding, losing control, completely unlike himself!
"Look, nothing happened! They are way ahead!"
The technician's voice suddenly sounded, filled with excitement.
He only switched the screen to try it out.
He switched to three different screens but didn't see Zara and Freya's car, so he was thoroughly disappointed.
Unexpectedly, when he switched to the fourth screen, their car appeared!
"Wow, Zara and Freya are alive!"
"And they overtook!"
"They overtook by so much!"
For some reason, everyone's emotions were complex at this moment.
Some were impressed by the two's extraordinary skills.
Some were relieved that they didn't die.
Sterling's tensed body slowly relaxed.
He didn't know why he did what he did.
"Wow, blindfolded racing, it's unprecedented!"
"The key is they are so skilled."
"I can guarantee she's a speed demon!"
Various praises reached Sterling's ears, and he clenched his fist again.
Zara... is a speed demon?
If it were in the past, he wouldn't believe it.
But after witnessing her skills with his own eyes, his denial lacked conviction.
A perplexed expression flickered in his eyes.
"Well done, Zara!" Freya loudly praised Zara from inside the car.
Blindfolded racing was actually more suitable for off-road tracks.
Because off-road tracks were complex and relied more on the co-pilot's commands.
The eyes didn't have much use.
In some cases, they might even hinder the driver's judgment.
Of course, even in the bends, the two knew that though it might be shocking, there wouldn't be any real danger.
Zara drove at full speed, not responding.
But her lips curved into a smile, showing the confident and determined demeanor unique to a race car driver, with a touch of softness as a she-wolf.
Even with her eyes covered.
Even in this dark night.
She was still bright, radiant!
"Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant!"
Robin, looking back at the overtaken Zara, shouted excitedly.
With Michael's cooperation, they successfully overtook Celeste and raced ahead.
Both of them were too excited to notice a ditch ahead.
Robin's car charged into the ditch.
Zara and Freya had been waiting for Celeste at the finish line for a long time.
Her impatience got the best of her, and Freya dozed off in the car.
Only Zara remained at the side of the car, doodling circles with her foot.
Celeste parked her car and slammed the door shut as she walked over.
In the car behind, Winona sat quietly, secretly checking the time.
They were a full ten minutes later than Zara!
For a race car driver, ten minutes could feel like forever.
It was totally a disgrace!
Celeste walked up to Zara and coldly said, "Are you satisfied now that you've trampled on me?"
Zara's eyebrows faintly twitched, and she only glanced at Celeste without answering.
Compared to Celeste's anger, she remained much calmer.
Celeste didn't want to hide her true emotions anymore.
Seeing Zara not responding to her, a strong feeling of being ignored washed over her. She wanted to strangle Zara's neck.
But in the next moment, she started laughing again.
"Even if you win against me, so what? Sterling is mine now. He took the initiative to date me, and we are going to complete the mating ceremony. For the rest of our lives, no matter how outstanding you are, he will never look back at you!"
Zara stood up straight, her gaze cold in response to Celeste's words.
Then, they locked eyes, and Zara said, "I raced against you today, not because of Sterling."
"Whether you get engaged or mated to him, I won't be jealous at all. And as for getting back him, Miss Celeste, you're overthinking it."
"Did I overthink it, or are you still pretending?" Celeste naturally didn't believe her. "You keep saying that competing with me isn't about Sterling. Besides him, what else is there between you and me?"
"What do you mean, nothing else?" Zara tapped on the side of the car and looked into the distance.
"Miss Celeste, have you forgotten? Just a few months ago, your pup injured Lyra, and four years ago, you almost took the lives of me and my pup!"
"What... do you mean?" Celeste's chest trembled inexplicably, and she stared at Zara even more intently. Her heart was filled with unease.
Zara turned to face her, locking her gaze with Celeste's.
"Four years ago, you inquired about Sterling's and my trip to pay respects to our ancestors from Robert. You deliberately timed it and called Sterling on the way, pretending to be kidnapped. Sterling left me and our unborn pup to rescue you. Have you forgotten?"
"I was really in trouble!" Celeste's eyes briefly flickered with discomfort, but she still argued, "It's because you didn't mean enough to him. Why blame me?"
"If I were you, I would have seen the reality and left Sterling back then!"
"Ha!" Zara didn't rush to say anything, only giving her a contemptuous smile.
Celeste froze in place.
Even though she had never cared about Zara, this "ha" felt like an invisible slap to her face.
Her face turned pale all of a sudden.
Zara's gaze grew sharper as she looked at her, as if peeling off her mask of pretense.
"Pretending to be kidnapped and making Sterling run around for you for days, you don't feel a bit sorry for him."
"Pretending...?" Celeste's head buzzed, and she felt lost.
The light in her eyes turned even more incredulous as she stared at Zara. How did she know about that? They had kept it hidden back then, and even Sterling didn't find out. How did she know?
"What nonsense are you talking about!" She forced herself to refute Zara.
Zara raised her phone. "I've already found the person who planned that incident. They live in Novaria, Sablewood City..."
She listed the person's detailed address and contact number.
"If you need evidence, I have it too."
"That's impossible!"
Zara's driving skills were not the only thing that crushed her today; she also discovered all these things.
Fear arose on Celeste's face, and her hands and feet began to tremble.
Zara couldn't be bothered to talk to her any further. She got into her car, started it, and drove away.
Celeste felt ice-cold all over and couldn't help but look around. Winona was in the car, far away, unable to hear anything, and Freya was sleeping, so no one saw her losing her composure.
It's okay; as long as she handled it slightly later, this matter could be resolved.
Thinking of this, she regained some composure and walked toward her car.
But after a few steps, Celeste suddenly stopped.
Not far from her, a figure stood silently.
