                    Aria’s POV
“How dare you! I’m the butler of this house!” Tarry barked.
I shrugged. “So, a servant.”
“Servant?! I’ve worked in the Harts’ residence for nearly 20 years. I was deeply trusted by the former Luna and Alpha! My status is way above yours!” he blurted out.
I let out a small chuckle and turned to Grayson. “Mr. Tarry just told me that in this house, I’m basically on the same level as the maid who scrubbed the toilet. I’m not even allowed to look you in the eye, say your name, or walk beside you.”
He raised an eyebrow.
Then he reached up and tucked a loose strand of hair behind my ear in a very gentle way. “Really? He said that?”
“Oh, and not just that. Mr. Tarry also called me a slum orphan with no mother. A filthy rat. And apparently, I’m the most vulgar, disrespectful, and boring woman you’ve ever had around. Is that true?”
Grayson froze for a few seconds, then slowly turned his gaze to Tarry.
“Is that true?” he asked, voice low, cold, dangerous.
Under that kind of stare, Tarry couldn’t help but shrink back. “T-Tue. But she was being very disrespectful, Alpha! She even used violence…she punched me in the face! What kind of lady does something so outrageous—”
“You insulted your master. And she only punched you once. That’s the lightest kind of punishment you can get,” Grayson said icily.
“M-Master? But Alpha, she’s not even your mistress! She holds no position in this house—”
“Enough!”
Grayson suddenly roared.
His voice thundered through the hall. Every servant dropped their heads in fear. Tarry began to tremble.
“Miss Collins holds the same privileges in this house as I do. Your job is to serve her, make her happy, laugh at every joke she makes, and be her fucking punching bag when she’s upset. Am. I. clear?!”
Tarry wiped the sweat off his forehead and muttered, “Y-yes, Alpha. I understand…”
“Say it to your other master,” Grayson ordered.
Tarry’s face twisted in humiliation.
But eventually he still turned to me, lowered his head, and mumbled, “...My sincerest apologies, Miss Collins. I misunderstood my place. What I said was completely inappropriate…I hope you can forgive me.”
I looked down at his graying head and let out a cold little snort.
What a pathetic old bastard.
“And those critiques about how I look and behave?”
“W-were all nonsense… Please don’t take them to heart…”
“So, I don’t need to change anything?”
“Of course not. It’s clear that Alpha Grayson likes you exactly the way you are,” he said through gritted teeth.
I let the silence hang just long enough to make him sweat, then turned to Grayson and said:
“No. I still want him gone.”
“Then he’s gone,” Grayson replied immediately, voice flat and firm.
“What?!”
Tarry’s head snapped up, face full of disbelief. “I already apologized! I never had to apologize to anyone at the Harts’ estate!”
I crossed my arms, staring him down. “Well, I think your apology sucked. Honestly, everything about you annoys me so I hope you get lost. Problem?”
“The former Luna ordered me to stay here! It was her command—”
Grayson’s cold voice sliced through his protest.
“Then go back and tell my mother to back the hell off my life. I still haven’t had the talk with her about promoting Delilah and Jace behind my back——GUARDS!”
The guards at the entrance stepped in instantly, grabbing Tarry by the arms and dragging him away.
Tarry struggled with all his might. His perfectly combed hair was now a mess.
He shouted as they pulled him out, “Alpha, listen to me! That woman is poison! She’ll ruin your life—!”
One of the guards clamped a hand over his mouth and hauled him away.
“Feeling better now?”
Grayson asked as he took my hand, gently stroking my knuckles with his thumb.
I curled my lips. “First it was that damn show. Then this man trying to insult me. Not exactly the warmest welcome back.”
“I’ll take care of everything for you,” he said without hesitation.
“You do realize all these problems are because of you, right? If I weren’t with you, if I were free, I wouldn’t have to deal with any of this mess…”
He grabbed my chin abruptly, stopping me from saying more.
“Stop talking about being free,” he warned in a low growl. “I don’t like the sound of it.”
I slipped out of his grip and gave a casual shrug.
His hand slid down to my waist and pulled me close again. “I have something that might make you smile.”
He pulled out a phone from his pocket and handed it to me.
A new phone?
Was this supposed to be a gift?
“Open the gallery,” he said.
I did. Then almost immediately, my eyes widened.
There were photos and videos from earlier today—of Grandma and May!
I gasped excitedly, bringing the phone closer to my face. Grandma was lying in a very fancy hospital room, looking much healthier. And May was sitting beside her bed, grinning and waving at the camera.
“Where are they?” I asked urgently.
“A safe place,” he said with a mysterious smile. “There are only two numbers saved in that phone. One is mine. The other is your friend’s. You can call her once a day.”
“Only once??”
He chuckled softly and pulled me body against his chest. “Yes. Because I still want most of your attention on me.”
I bit into my lower lip. “When can I see them then?”
He lifted his eyebrow. “That’s a reward. And rewards have to be earned.”
Then he swept me off the ground, wrapping my legs around his waist.
I could already feel how hard he was beneath his pants.
“D-Don’t you have work to do… You just got back…” I said breathlessly, turning my head away to avoid his kisses.
His breathing had turned rough. “It can wait until tomorrow.”
Wow even the workaholic Alpha Grayson was getting distracted now.
Maybe Tarry was right. I really was a bad influence.
He carried me upstairs like I weighed nothing, holding me like a child. Along the way, we passed several servants. They glanced at me in shock before quickly ducking out of sight. Probably never seen him lose control like that.
He kissed me hungrily as we reached his bedroom.
The second the door shut with a loud kick from his foot, he threw me hard against it.
