"yoomi~come on!" you whined, tugging hard on his arm to try and sway his decision, but he doesn't budge once his mind is made up.
"no," he said flatly, and you glared at him. "i'm not going to some nasty ass beach party with miya and the others." you sighed shortly, folding your arms and staring at him with the big doe eyes that you very rarely used on him, but when you did they worked wonders.
"not even for a little bit?"
"no, because i don't want to see you get hurt again."
"yoomi it wasn't even bad!"
somehow, sakusa had a thing about you getting hurt in public, even the tiniest injuries or inconveniences. a shoulder check by a random stranger would set him off so quick and make him prickly, but somehow you always ended up getting an injury over something silly with the boys.
what? he just wanted you in perfect condition!
but last time, you got a little sprain in your wrist because atsumu buried bokuto in the sand, baiting you to run over him without you knowing he was there. of course you clowned yourself when he grabbed you, and of course suna got it on video.
"okay, maybe it was a bit bad, but i'm fine now! wrist is almost as flexible as yours!" you shoved your hands in sakusa's face, jokingly showing off your inability to copy his little quirk. he raised a brow and smiled a little bit, but it dropped when he realized he was falling under your stupid little spell.
"it's not work the risk." he said seriously, in the tone that screamed this is final, but you could still work him someway.
you made your sweet little face at him to try and get your way with him.
he groaned.
it had been a few days since atsumu had pissed off your boyfriend, so he had time to cool down, but at what cost? he's so stubborn sometimes. sakusa shook his head and turned away, as he couldn't bare looking at you when you were begging. he felt guilty and embarrassed that he was stopping you from having fun, especially during the summer months.
"you can have bokuto take you," he said over his shoulder, "i know i don't have to be there for you to have fun." it wasn't a secret that you were good friends with all of sakusa's friends, and he truly wouldn't be upset if you'd gone with them. he trusted both parties.
"yeah, but you make everything even more fun!"
"stop lying." he deadpanned.
"no, kiyo! you do, i promise!"
you were still trying to come up with something to make him go, but you didn't want to push him too far. even so, you wondered what the worst could be, so you decided to just let him have it.
"well, it would be a shame not to get any use out of that swimsuit i bought last week..." you said, turning away from him to hide the prideful smile on your face. you heard sakusa's footsteps stop after a moment, and the silence in the room was deafening. you decided to torture him a little bit more. "i was really only hoping to wear it for you...but i guess the others will have to do."
"what was that?" he said lowly.
"hmm?"
feigning innocence, you turned to sakusa, who could see right through you. but what was the harm in letting you persuade him? after all, you're naturally the only one who could ever change his mind about anything.
and against his will, sakusa was now sitting by himself on a few towels, watching you and the boys run around in the tide acting like you were in a cliche anime beach episode. he thought the look on your face was priceless, and he was completely fine observing your happiness even if he wasn't really involved in it.
he actually wasn't upset about being here quite yet, and by god did you look good.
sakusa could barely keep his eyes off you.
the group, which consisted of you, the msby four and suna. one of your friends named haiba alisa had also joined (you were hyping her up all day for being beautiful as always) you also wanted to invite kenma and osamu, but they were streaming and running a restaurant, respectively. how dare they have jobs on a saturday morning?
sakusa might as well be friends with alisa too, seeing as she was around so much, and the both of you were insperable, maybe more so than you and him. anyways, the group had decided to show up a little earlier in the morning to keep you and sakusa around for a little longer, but it was starting to get a little more packed as he sat shirtless on a towel, watching you with a mind filled to the brim with anxiety of people coming to the spot.
suna laughed loudly as he shoved you down into the water, even louder when you grabbed atsumu's arm on the way down and he fell in as well. "fuck off, rin!" he heard you shout, and he watched as alisa lifted you up out of the water, but placing her foot on atsumu's stomach with a devious smile so that he couldn't.
"alisa, my wife~" you teased her, making her giggle.
hinata laughed at him, "you can't lose to alisa-chan!"
"so embarrassing, tsumtsum!" bokuto finished for him, right as atsumu pushed her leg up and off of him, making alisa stumble back and hit suna, making them both topple over.
"serves ya right!" atsumu laughed cheerfully.
"shut up, pisshair." alisa fired back as they got into another petty argument that they didn't actually mean.
"stick legs~" you leaned down and taunted suna, squeezing the water out of his fluffy dark hair as he flipped you off, still sitting in the water. "wait! bo!" you turned quickly and urgently to bokuto, who seemed scared that he'd done something wrong. "my sweet friend, would you launch me into the water?" you begged, knowing he's probably the strongest out of the group besides sakusa, better for throwing purposes.
"oh! oh! me too!" hinata gasped.
bokuto gave an excited grin, "yeah—! wait, no..." his hair started deflating and you wanted nothing more than to give him a big bear hug. "i don't want anyone getting hurt again..." your eyes got watery at him being the sweetest person alive, and you placed your hand on his shoulder, making his face lighten back up.
"aww, bo~ you're so responsible!" you smiled, but hearing a low i'm not, you felt hands grip your sides as someone tossed you a considerable ways away into the ocean. you screamed, limbs flailing in the air as you spun around and hit your back smack on the surface, flipping a few times underneath the nasty water.
once you came back up, you saw another body get thrown at your direction, and you screeched as orange hair came flying directly at you. you went under again, but one of hinata's arms had hit you in the face, making your eyes sting.
you laughed, however, when you and hinata came up for air once again, swimming back to the boys and alisa while slandering atsumu for laughs.
"hey, ya asked for it." atsumu shrugged, but took one look at you and widened his eyes. "woah—yo, don't let omi-omi see that!" you hummed in question as he blocked you from sakusa's view, and the rest of the group looked at your face.
they all cringed, sucking in air like there was some kind of abnormality.
"what? what is it?"
"well," suna reached his hand out to your face, swiping his thumb under your nose and holding it up to your face for your viewing. and what do you know? fresh blood. "princess got a little roughed up."
"oh, that's all?" you scoffed, ignoring suna's nickname out of habit and trying to walk past atsumu when he stopped you.
"he's gonna kill me! and there's probably sharks on their way here right now!"
"atsumu, honey, there aren't any sharks—"
"hey, i'm ready to go."
everyone paused in confusion at the sudden deep voice, and looking at them, the group dramatically gasped. well, all except suna.
to most everyone's shock, sakusa kiyoomi was standing in the ocean just a few feet away, face stiff and annoyed. what the hell? atsumu turned around to face him, clutching his heart because he was so startled, that he quickly forgot about blocking your minor injury.
"what the hell is that?" sakusa growled at him, not even a second after atsumu allowed him viewing access.
"nothing—!" he giggled nervously, and you raised a brow at him.
"yoomi? what's the matter?" you pressed, stepping a bit closer.
"can we leave?"
you nodded with a little hesitation, soft look on your face as you turned and said goodbyes to your friends, who still looked a bit pensive.
"dumbass miya." suna grumbled, and you threw a mischievous smile over your shoulder as you walked towards the sand.
but the question rang in your mind: why was he freaking out so bad?
"what happened?" you asked again as sakusa was gathering all of his things, handing you his shirt and towel.
you put the shirt on and wiped your nose with the towel, noticing that the blood splotches were surprisingly large.
"i saw what he did. we're going home."
"kiyoomi, why?~" you whined, following him out to where he'd parked his car.
"there was a lot of people," he said shortly, opening the passenger side door for you and shoving the rest of the stuff in the backseat. "besides, you have a bloody nose."
"did girls come talk to you?" you ignored the concern about your nose and pressed the question once he got situated in the driver's seat, almost bonking his head as always because...well, he's huge. but perfect.
"yeah, these brainless idiots that were the farthest things from you."
"oh," you smiled sheepishly, watching as sakusa turned the car on and then rested his hand on the gear shift. "i don't think we need to go home, okay? it isn't even bad."
"when she has no regard for her health."
"when he talks about me as if i'm not here."
"suna talked like that one time and it was funny," he said plainly, turning to you. the look on his face made you drop the towel into your lap with a smile. "are you sure you're okay?"
"yes, yoomi. i'm a big, tough girl." you told him, flexing your arms sarcastically.
"you're my little risk taker aren't you?"
"more so than you!" you teased, smirking with confidence.
"hmmm..." he hummed, putting his arm behind your seat and reversing the car out of its parking space. "i think you're right." you watched him, his mannerisms, his gentle yet dominant self, finding everything about him so, so beautiful.
not to mention that he was still shirtless—
"kiyooo~" you sang, rolling your window down for some air.
"hm?" he was driving forward now, to the main road while you stared at him.
"i dunno," you said with a giggle, "you're just pretty."
sakusa scoffed, setting his hand on the top of the steering wheel as he stared out into the open road. "so are you," he said with a tiny smile, "by the way, i think that's the second."
"huh?" you turned to look at him, hair starting to dry out from the window, "being pretty is the second?"
"no, i mean the risk taking thing. it's...refreshing. it doesn't seem like you're afraid of very much, or even have been at all."
"i think our definitions of risk taking are different, yoomi," you laughed, "you should've seen me in high school. not to mention we went to college together!"
"i remember, the twins don't shut up about some of it. and suna still has a lot of videos of you doing stupid shit."
"oh, god..."
