"what are your plans for today?" sakusa asked after his morning routine, now running delicate fingers over your skin as he leaned over you. you stared beck up at him with a small smile, gripping the arm that was planted beside your shoulders.
"if rin and kenma are in the mood we might go to onigiri," you said, a hopeful glint in your eye, "you should come with."
"no, it's okay," he said, taking his hand and threading it through your hair. "you go have fun. they're more of your friends than mine."
you often felt bad for sakusa. yes, he had a lot of people he called friends, but he was only okay to hang out with people he saw more often. suna was only in tokyo for a few weeks out of the summer as it was, until he headed back to fukushima for the start of the season. kenma was busy all the time anyway, and it wasn't often that you actually got to spend quality time with him.
sakusa knew that, and wanted you to have as much fun as you could before going back to osaka in august.
you smiled wider and reached up to wrap your arms around sakusa's neck, sweetly pulling him down to press a kiss to his lips.
"hold me." you murmured quietly against his skin, and he immediately did. for how could he resist? so sakusa held you tight against the pillows, and you allowed the entire length of his body to cover yours, cradling your face into the crook of his neck.
he just couldn't say no to you.
and when you departed from him, he was busy trying to entertain himself, but ultimately ended up sitting on the sofa watching a tournament game from last season, oddly wishing he had a pet to keep him company. he weighed this thought in his head for a few minutes (cat or dog? or fish?), and decided that maybe he would bring it up with you. you always did want pets.
you, on the other hand, were sitting on a barstool at onigiri miya, half-listening to kenma and osamu arguing over something that only businessmen could argue about, and quite frankly, you couldn't care less about what they were saying, because you were having a conversation with suna.
"girl shut up, you know i'd be a good boyfriend," he snapped. and you smiled teasingly. "the only girls i hang out with are you, alisa, and the team publicist. dating her is against the contract, you're pretty much married to omi-san, and alisa is way out of my league."
"hmmm," you thought, "yeah, she is. but! i know another girl you might like~"
"hit me." suna said after downing half a glass of water.
"her name is yosano akiko—"
"is she hot?"
you stared at him blankly before continuing. "yes, but she's a really busy doctor in osaka, so you might never get to meet her."
"dammit, (name), why aren't any of your hot friends from the east?"
"quiet, rin, she's out of your league too, anyway."
he scowled at you before taking a bite out of his favorite onigiri, "i could pull so many girls if i wasn't so busy."
"you could be out getting some but instead you're sitting here stuffing your face with ikura with another publicist who's off limits." you crossed your arms and stuck your nose up at him, making him smile pridefully.
"your comebacks got better."
"i know right!" you grinned and took another sip of water before he spoke again.
"so how about you and omi-san? think you'll end up...marrying him?" you both cringed at the question. your nose scrunched as you looked away.
"well, i definitely love him and he loves me too...i know someday we probably will..." you looked at suna to find him with raised brows in curiosity. "but getting proposed to has gotta be so embarrassing."
at this, suna's eyes widened and he tried so hard to keep from laughing, contorting his face hilariously that all you could do was smile with a giggle. "nah, i admit that if i ever think of a perfect relationship, you both are the first that comes to mind. my sister
thinks so too."
"i miss himari~" you frowned and suna scoffed.
"she's still the same little brat who gets her way with my mom all the time."
"she's allowed to," you said, turning in your seat to face the bar again, "but kiyoomi is the only person i've ever actually fell in love with. i think i'm really lucky for that." you heard suna hum in agreement beside you.
"don't forget we dated in high school." osamu smiled, placing his hands on the bar counter in front of you.
"i sure as hell wasn't in love with you." you smirked.
"me either. that was the worst week of my life."
you chuckled and turned to kenma, who was already looking at you.
"you've been dating this guy for what? four years? and i've only talked to him like five times about nothing." kenma realized, giving a pointed look at you.
"oh, leave him alone," you whined at him, "he's perfect is all that you need to know."
"you need my approval before i let you marry him." kenma smiled, to which you spun around to face him.
"we're not getting married!" you whisper-shouted urgently, and kenma scoffed, slapping a bill on the countertop to pay for all of your meals once again.
"yeah, yeah, he better propose before the olympics or i'm out 6,000 yen."
"thank you kenma~" you drawled, standing up and sliding your coat on. "wait, are you betting on my marriage?"
"yup, with kuro." he gave you a lazy grin as you scowled.
suna thanked kenma as well, and the three of you waved adieu to osamu, who wore a broad grin.
walking down the streets of tokyo with your friends was a simple but glorious thing every time. you had light conversation with a breeze for a number of minutes before returning home to sakusa.
"honey, i'm home!" you shouted playfully, and sakusa's head perked up from his spot on the sofa. "i really wish you could've gone." you told him, making your way over to the couch and plopping a bag of umeboshi in his lap.
"thank you," he said looking up at you, watching you sit down next to him. "i don't think i would've added to your fun."
"kiyo, i mean it when i say everything's more fun with you. you know that, right?"
he frowned.
"yeah, you tell me all the time." you came closer and leaned on his side as he wrapped an arm around you, eyes stationed on the television where he'd just spiked down another ball for a kill.
gazing at sakusa, you saw a little smile slip onto his face, and his eyes turned to yours expectantly.
not a moment of silence passed before you and climbed up to straddle his lap again, hugging him tight as his quiet laughter sent chills down your spine. his hands found their ways on your sides as he gave you a sweet kiss.
"what?" he chuckled against your lips.
"nothing." you smiled, him reaching up to run his fingers through your hair, humming and nodding.
"i heard you were getting made fun of today." he said, moving slightly from your skin.
you groaned and slumped away from him. "as always," you said, "they asked me about..." you paused for dramatic effect and whispered, "marriage."
sakusa raised a brow, carefully choosing his next words since it was a sensitive topic.
"what about it? it's bound to happen someday, isn't it?"
"well...yeah?" you looked out the window for a moment to try and hide your embarrassment, but sakusa could see right through you. "i know that..."
sakusa grunted in question, wanting to know what was running through your head now. he touched his fingers to your chin and turned you to look at him, staring at you intently. you could only smile shakily back.
"i guess i just never gave it much thought. i always knew i'd marry you, kiyo. i love you way too much to think otherwise," you leaned in close and wrapped your arms around his neck, "i just don't want it right now."
"i don't either. i'm willing to wait." sakusa pressed his nose into your neck, getting as close as he could to you, breathing in your familiar scent. "if you'll have me, that is."
"oh, don't worry. you aren't ever getting rid of me~" you laughed as he smiled again.
his eyes turned down in embarrassment as he grasped your thigh, which was hooked over his own lap still. "i intend on staying with you for a lifetime, even if it's a while away."
"kiyo?" you murmured, "really?"
"number...what? six?" he asked, ignoring your question, and you nodded with a flushed face. "i'm not completely sure what i want in my future, but the only thing i know is that you'll always be in it."

"if rin and kenma are in the mood we might go to onigiri," you said, a hopeful glint in your eye, "you should come with."
