She felt as if she had been struck by lightning, unable to stand steadily.
Her legs turned weak, and her mind was in chaos.
If Aurora was the Thousand Faced Fox, then she was thoroughly outplayed.
"Let's leave first," Hector said, interrupting her thoughts. Even after hearing so much shocking gossip, his expression remained calm and composed.
Cathy's legs were like lead, and she struggled to return to the car.
Hector drove to the hotel and asked her to rest upstairs while he took William aside.
"Who is the Thousand Faced Fox?" When they were alone, Hector looked down, took out a cigarette, and pressed it to his lips, asking.
Though he didn't look at William directly, his question made William's heart skip a beat. Hector was perceptive, and he must be suspicious.
"Why are you asking like this?" William tried to act nonchalant, forcefully suppressing his guilty conscience.
Hector lit the cigarette with a click, taking a deep drag. His phoenix-like eyes narrowed slightly, leaving others wondering what he was thinking.
"I want to meet her."
Meet... Wasn't that a death sentence?
"When did you become so interested in women other than Cathy?" William almost choked on his breath and hurriedly laughed it off. "Forget it, she's low-profile, and she won't want to meet you."
Hector turned his head to look at him, saying nothing, but his gaze was fixed on him.
His deep and penetrating gaze seemed to read through one's heart.
William could barely breathe under that gaze.
"How did Aurora end up here?" Hector dropped another bomb.
William's legs trembled, but he managed to react quickly, "Did she come? I had no idea."
"Oh, by the way, the Thousand Faced Fox said she wanted to go to the temple to pray. I'll go pick her up now." After saying that, he walked out with large strides, pretending to call the Thousand Faced Fox.
Watching William's retreating figure, Hector's thoughts once again returned to Aurora.
Why did she come? Was it because of the boss of Starlight Media?
Her relationship with the boss of Starlight Media was rather peculiar. He had divorced for her and even established a foundation named after her daughter, Iris, for several billion dollars. Logically speaking, he should love her deeply. However, after so long, they had never mentioned getting married. They had never interacted in public either. He even suspected that the so-called boss of Starlight Media might be a fabrication.
But why was he bothering so much about someone irrelevant?
Hector rubbed his temples to dispel those chaotic thoughts and headed back.
Finally, Aurora and Mr. Anderson got back to the main topic. She presented the project of Genesis Group.
"I know you don't like doing business with foreign entrepreneurs, but this project is exceptional," Aurora said with sincerity.
She wasn't just flattering; she had carefully reviewed the proposal and genuinely thought it was excellent.
"If this project takes off, it will be extremely beneficial for both you and Genesis Group. It's a groundbreaking endeavor."
Normally, Mr. Anderson wouldn't bother looking at a proposal just to please someone. But Aurora was different.
He took the proposal and lowered his head to read it. The only sound in the room was the flipping of paper.
Aurora kept her head down, sipping her tea until he finished reading the last page and looked up at her.
She stared back at him in silence.
"You indeed have a good eye for this," Mr. Anderson said with an affectionate tone. "However, this project is too avant-garde and risky."
Aurora nodded. "Indeed, avant-garde projects come with certain risks. But precisely because of those risks, there is infinite amount of possibilities and opportunities."
Mr. Anderson agreed with her, "You're right. I trust your judgment. However, I still can't invest in this project."
Aurora didn't ask for the reason and simply accepted his decision. "It's okay; I'll leave the information here. You can take a look whenever you want."
They chatted for a while, and Mr. Anderson couldn't help asking about her marriage. "I heard you got married. Why didn't you bring your husband here? I want to see what kind of man is lucky enough to marry you."
The mention of marriage made the smile on Aurora's face gradually fade. It became extremely faint as she said, "I already got divorced."
Mr. Anderson was first surprised, then he slammed the table, "Who's blind enough to let go of such a great girl!"
He was genuinely angry.
Seeing him angry for her, Aurora felt warm in her heart and couldn't help but find it amusing.
"What's so great about me? Only you would think I'm a great girl," she said lightly.
"Who said that!" Mr. Anderson glared at her, completely different from his usual appearance. "However, it's his loss. I'll introduce someone better to you!"
"Sure, why not?" Aurora didn't take it seriously and nodded along with his words.
She didn't stay long and soon took her leave.
Mr. Anderson personally saw her off. At the door, Aurora took out a peace talisman she had just prayed for and handed it to him, "This is what I prayed for today. I hope you stay safe and find the person you seek."
Mr. Anderson silently accepted it and rubbed the peace talisman with his fingers for a long time. "Are you hoping I'll let her go?" he asked, his gaze intense under his snow-white hair.
Aurora gently pursed her lips and said softly, "I hope you can let go of yourself."
She knew best about the matter between Mr. Anderson and his ex-wife. The depth of his hatred toward her was evident.
In this world, love and hatred often went hand in hand. She hoped he could let go completely.
"You little girl," Mr. Anderson teased.
A trace of warmth appeared in his cold gaze.
He smiled, "Alright, I'll listen to you!"
Years ago, he was deceived by his ex-wife, left in huge debts, and faced various blows. He almost took his own life.
That night, he stumbled upon Aurora's live stream and was immediately drawn in by her hopeful outlook.
She scrolled through the countless messages and saw the distressing signs of his suicidal thoughts. She quickly contacted him and offered her support.
She even came to Silvaria to help him.
Back then, she gave him ten thousand dollars. Though it wasn't much, it became the strength that helped him stand back up.
Since then, they had kept in touch, and even after he climbed back to the peak of life, he never forgot the little girl who had pulled him back from the brink of death.
Aurora bid farewell and turned to leave.
"Young girl," Mr. Anderson called out to her again.
His gaze was deep as he looked up at the sky. "The weather will be good tomorrow. How about accompanying me to play golf?"
"Sure!" Aurora agreed enthusiastically.
After she left, Mr. Burnett walked over and saw the peace talisman in Mr. Anderson's hand. He praised, "Miss Stewart is truly a thoughtful person."
Mr. Anderson lowered his head and looked at the object in his hand, nodding. "Indeed, she is thoughtful."
By giving him the peace talisman before leaving, she made it clear that she didn't want to burden him.
After Aurora returned to the hotel, Hector also came back to his room.
As soon as he opened the door, someone followed him inside.
"Hector," Cathy stood pitifully behind him, her voice soft and weak, looking powerless. "Why aren't you resting?"
Hector looked at Cathy, his eyebrows slightly furrowing as he asked, "Why haven't you rested? Is something wrong?"
Cathy's body swayed, "Do you look down on me? I'm sorry; I wanted to help you, but I almost made things worse."
"No," Hector shook his head, "I'm already happy that you want to help me."
"Really?" Cathy looked at him with hopeful eyes, but she still felt uneasy.
She wanted to make an impact on the matter of Mr. Anderson because she needed something significant to get Hector's attention. After losing to Aurora in the racing competition, she felt a thorn piercing her heart. She wanted to do everything possible to remove it.
She thought she could handle it this time, even though she knew that William had already invited the "Thousand-Face Fox" (Aurora) and offered to lend a hand.
But today, whether it was William revealing her ignorance of the situation with Mr. Anderson's wife or Aurora's unexpected preference by Mr. Anderson, everything dealt a heavy blow to her pride, leaving her feeling ashamed.
Cathy felt stifled.
"Really," Hector rubbed his temples, feeling tired after a long day.
Seeing him like this, Cathy decided not to say anything more and took a step back. "Then go rest now. Robert will come later, and we can all get together."
Hector only made a sound of agreement before closing the door.
As Cathy watched the door close, the softness on her face faded a little. She turned around and unexpectedly met someone's gaze from across the hall-it was Aurora.
At that moment, Cathy's perfect face showed a trace of crack.
Instinctively, she thought of the scene where Mr. Anderson refused to see Aurora during the day.
The reason why Aurora was looking at Cathy was purely accidental.
After a tiring day, she returned to the hotel and discovered that both Cathy and Hector were also staying there, on the same floor.
Aurora couldn't help but smirk slightly.
She could understand running into familiar faces back home, but why did they have to meet each other again abroad?
This smirk, to Cathy, seemed like a mocking gesture-a blatant mockery!
Cathy's anger surged, and she couldn't control her footsteps. She walked, clicking her heels, toward Aurora.
Just as Aurora opened the door, Cathy quickly blocked her way.
"Aurora, how low are you willing to stoop? It's fine if you behave this way in Celesterra, but you're still sticking around abroad! Have you forgotten that you're the woman of Starlight Media's boss?"
She had to be careful about her image in front of familiar faces back home, but here, she didn't need to care about it anymore and didn't even bother pretending.
Cathy stared at Aurora, her eyes burning with anger.
At that moment, Aurora saw Cathy but was genuinely surprised.
Aurora's accidental gaze seemed to provoke Cathy.
"You think you're a goddess that everyone talks about, but look at you now-just like a shrew! Don't you remember that you're already Starlight Media's boss's mistress?"
Cathy could really come up with some ideas!
Was she really that dumb?
Aurora didn't even bother to take her seriously and remained nonchalant, not responding.
Her silence, however, was misinterpreted by Cathy.
She thought she had guessed correctly.
"Let me tell you this. I know you're still holding a grudge against Hector for not choosing you. Are you here to sabotage things with Mr. Anderson?"
Cathy was good at coming up with ideas!
That woman had way too much time on her hands to come up with such ludicrous ideas.
Aurora didn't regard her highly and maintained her casual attitude.
The more Aurora acted this way, the more agitated Cathy became.
Cathy had been pampered and praised by others for so long that she couldn't tolerate Aurora's indifference. Instead of leaving, she pursed her lips and sneered.
Cathy raised her chin, using even more provocative words to attack Aurora. "I know you're acting open-minded, but it's all just empty words. If you were truly open-minded, you wouldn't be meddling with Hector. Perhaps Starlight Media is interested in you, and they might help you a little, even pulling some strings to let you meet Mr. Anderson. But if you continue to stick to Hector like this, I'm afraid the boss of Starlight Media will get tired of you. Then you'll be abandoned, and no other big boss will want to take you in."
This speech by Cathy carried multiple layers of meaning, each showing her contempt for Aurora.
To Aurora, her self-righteous words were simply ignorant!
Unable to hold back, Aurora burst into laughter.
"Everyone says that Miss Cathy is a goddess. But now, you seem more like a shrew. Have the people who know you in Celesterra mistaken you for someone else?"
Cathy liked to be snarky, so Aurora decided to be even more snarky!
"You!" Cathy was exposed and had lost all her face, causing her beautiful features to contort in anger.
Originally, she didn't want to make a scene with someone like Cathy. If she wanted to throw herself against the door and end her life, Aurora could only comply.
She floated a faint smile, "Instead of wasting your time thinking about irrelevant matters, why not practice your acting skills? After all, Miss Cathy still relies on that to make a living!"
It was clear that she was implying that she lacked real talent.
Cathy's brain became congested with anger, and she glared at Aurora as if she wanted to devour her.
Seeing that she was incapable of any resistance, Aurora shrugged her shoulders and pulled her away, entering the room.
Bang!
She closed the door right in front of her face.
Cathy: "..."
It took a long time for her to snap out of her trance after Aurora disappeared.
What had she just done?
Why did she take her anger out on Aurora?
Wasn't she the elegant and noble goddess Cathy, with grace, temperament, and beauty?
But just now, she had nothing, behaving like a shrew!
Even she couldn't accept the image she had just shown, and Cathy was so flustered that she almost pulled her hair out. It took a lot of effort for her to restrain herself.
In the evening, Robert indeed arrived.
The four of them went to the hotel restaurant together.
William didn't look very good, and after they sat down, he relayed the information he had received from Aurora to everyone.
Hector's face tightened upon hearing that the Thousand-Face Fox had failed. Although he didn't say anything, it was evident that the failure had a significant impact on him.
"Wasn't it said before that the relationship between the Thousand-Face Fox and Mr. Anderson was extraordinary? The rumors were that as long as the Thousand-Face Fox got involved, Mr. Anderson would definitely agree. How could things turn out like this?" Cathy spoke with a graceful demeanor, casually expressing her thoughts.
Then she covered her mouth lightly, "Could it have something to do with Miss Stewart?"
Immediately, she apologized, "I'm sorry; I shouldn't have guessed randomly."
"Miss Stewart? Which Miss Stewart? Aurora? Is she here too?" Robert asked sensitively, and his unrestrained face immediately contorted with disgust. "I'm telling you, it's definitely her doing!"
"This woman has no shame! She was the one who insisted on getting a divorce, and now she's up to these tricks-disgusting!"
Robert had always loathed Aurora, and Cathy's subtle hints ignited his anger even more. He started spewing a stream of hateful words about Aurora.
"Robert, don't say that without evidence," Cathy pretended to advise while concealing a satisfied smile.
She wanted everyone to believe that Aurora was responsible for today's incident.
"Do we need evidence for something like this? She's targeted you more than once!" Robert exploded in rage.
He looked at Hector, "Hector, she's trampled all over you multiple times, and you're still silent. How long will you keep tolerating her?"
What Robert truly cared about wasn't Aurora's antics towards Hector but rather her actions against his goddess, Cathy.
Hector remained silent, still as quiet as ever. However, William couldn't help but let out a cold snort.
To be honest, he now despised being with these two people.
One was pretentious, and the other was foolish.
Boring.
If it weren't for Aurora forbidding him from revealing the truth, he would have loved to throw the blame for the Thousand-Face Fox incident on these two.
"Aurora is very fair-minded and has her principles. She won't hold grudges because of love, nor will she target anyone without reason. If she really targets someone, they should think about whether they've done something despicable to her." As he said this, his gaze settled on Cathy for a moment.
His expression was indifferent, and he spoke casually, not appearing too serious. However, that one glance was like a searchlight, probing into the darkest corner of Cathy's heart.
Her heart pounded, and she could hardly maintain her composure.
"Hey, William, do you like Aurora by any chance? Why are you always speaking up for her?" Robert couldn't contain his anger and burst out.
William didn't immediately deny it; instead, he forced a bitter smile. "Even if I like her, I'm not worthy of her."
"Crazy!"
Robert knew nothing about Aurora's identity, so he gave William a disdainful look upon hearing his words.
"Hector, we shouldn't rush into things regarding Mr. Anderson's matter. Why don't we go play for a few days first and think of a solution later?" Cathy leaned over to hold Hector's hand, whispering softly.
"Yeah." After a while, Hector gave a faint nod.
The next day, the sun was shining brightly. Aurora and Mr. Anderson arrived at the golf course early in the morning.
Mr. Anderson wore a gray sportswear, looking vigorous and powerful despite being in his forties. The white hair on his head glistened in the sunlight.
The white of Aurora's golf shirt was almost blinding compared to the muted colors of the surroundings. The shirt's conservative design did not detract from its ability to flatter her figure.
The shirt had half-length sleeves, just enough to reveal a slender, fair arm. Her pants hugged her legs, making them appear even longer. Her hair was tied into a ponytail, exuding a youthful and vibrant aura.
Mr. Anderson admired her appearance, saying, "Young people are different, full of vitality."
"You are also full of vitality, and handsome too!" Aurora gave him a thumbs-up.
The relationship between the two was like that of friends or even father and daughter, showing a natural affinity.
Mr. Anderson chuckled softly. Although he was in his forties, his face had smooth lines, and his previous aura of youthfulness was still evident.
In the distance, two figures approached them.
Upon seeing them, Aurora's brows slightly furrowed, and her smile faded away.
The people who came were none other than Hector and Cathy.
Hector wore dark blue sportswear, showing off his perfect figure.
His face was calm, giving off an unrippled surface, and his features were immaculate, making him incredibly handsome.
Cathy's outfit of choice, a sports bra and shorts, left little to the imagination, showcasing her svelte legs and a section of her waist. She had pulled her hair into a neat bun, drawing attention to the graceful curve of her neck and collarbone.
Adding a touch of allure to her goddess aura, Cathy was indeed charming.
Aurora only glanced at them before quickly turning away. Hector, however, stood still, not moving any further. His gaze fixed on this side.
"Mr. Anderson?" Cathy quickly recognized him and exclaimed in surprise.
After looking at Mr. Anderson, her gaze shifted to Aurora.
Yesterday, Aurora obtained the privilege of meeting Mr. Anderson. Today, she was accompanying him to play golf?
Who was Mr. Anderson?
Even if the boss of Starlight Media had such a great influence, would he really let her accompany him to play golf?
Various thoughts flashed briefly in Cathy's mind, but she couldn't figure it out.
She was about to ask Hector something when he took the initiative to step forward. "Mr. Anderson, hello, I'm Hector."
It was a customary greeting in front of an important figure.
Cathy quickly followed, catching up to them. "Mr. Anderson, I'm Cathy." She wanted to introduce her own identity and the dramas she had acted in, but she swallowed her words again, remembering what William had said.
Mr. Anderson's gaze fell lightly on both of them, and he said, "So, you know each other?"
"We've met," Aurora replied calmly.
She summed up her relationship with Hector with the simple phrase "we've met."
Hector's face scrunched up slightly as she furrowed his brows in thought. He suddenly felt uncomfortable.
After being married for four years, were they only "acquainted" in her eyes?
Mr. Anderson didn't know whether he had noticed anything or not, but he didn't reveal Aurora's true identity. Instead, he said, "Since you've met, it must be fate. Mr. Orlando has come from afar, so let's make the most of it. Aurora, be a good host to him."
Aurora: "..."
She looked at Mr. Anderson in confusion. Was he going to entertain Hector and still make her accompany them?
"Mr. Orlando probably knows how to play too. How about a few rounds with Aurora?" Mr. Anderson suggested.
Cathy was taken aback upon hearing this. So Mr. Anderson wanted Aurora to play against Hector? She looked at Aurora again. Why was Mr. Anderson being so polite to her? They seemed to have an unusual relationship. Could it be that the boss of Starlight Media and Mr. Anderson were very close?
Cathy naturally wouldn't think that Aurora was the Thousand-Face Fox, and she kept speculating about the boss of Starlight Media.
That man was very mysterious, and no matter what his identity was, he never seemed surprised.
"Sure," Hector calmly responded. His voice was steady, neither too fast nor too slow.
Aurora didn't know what Mr. Anderson was up to, but she didn't want to say anything more. She made a gesture to Hector and said, "Mr. Orlando, please." Her tone was calm, as if they were merely acquaintances.
Hector's brows furrowed again, but he didn't say anything. He followed her as they walked away.
Cathy watched the two of them leave, feeling a bit annoyed, but she also felt relieved that she finally had a chance to talk to Mr. Anderson. So she spoke up, "Mr. Anderson, how about we go to the tea house over there and watch them play?"
There was a building constructed in a place with a good view, allowing them to see far and wide.
Mr. Anderson didn't refuse and said, "Okay."
The two turned around and headed for the tea house.
Meanwhile, Aurora and Hector arrived at the tee-off point.
The caddies were already waiting there.
Aurora picked up a ball, placed it on the ground, assumed a posture, and swung her club, cleanly hitting the ball.
Seeing the ball fly high, Hector's eyes flickered with surprise.
He didn't expect Aurora to play golf, and she played so well.
She could play golf and race cars...
After the divorce, Aurora seemed like a treasure box that had been opened, revealing layers of surprises with each layer uncovered.
"Mr. Orlando, please," Aurora's voice came over, clear and bright, with a polite tone.
She smiled so perfectly, but it seemed as if her core had been forcibly taken away, and there was no trace of genuine emotion.
Hector's heart skipped a beat, feeling uncomfortable.
He picked up his club but didn't rush to hit the ball. Instead, he looked at her and asked, "When did you learn to play golf?"
"A long time ago," she replied lightly.
"Why have I never seen you play before?" After being divorced for so long, he wanted to know more about her. "I've never seen you play with cars either."
This question made Aurora's lips curl into a smile. She replied, "Pamela doesn't allow me to leave home. Even if I wanted to play, I wouldn't have the chance."
Hector: "..."
This was what Pamela meant, and he had never objected to it.
At that time, he never regarded her as family, so he couldn't be bothered to care.
"Besides, even if I played these things, would you even have had the time to pay attention?" She added another sentence.
The casual remark caught Hector off guard and left him feeling winded, as if he had been punched in the back.
Without warning, his gaze shot up to meet hers.
This was a heartrending topic, but she said it with a bright smile, as if she had never minded it.
After saying that, she turned and walked away gracefully, her steps light.
Hector felt like a ton of bricks had been placed on his chest, making it hard for him to breathe and move.
