Thomas stood there for a long time, not leaving until my taillights disappeared from his sight.
Jennie immediately confronted him back home,"Did you go see Sharon?"
"She hurt us so badly. Why did you go to see her? You…ugh!"
Before he finished speaking,Thomas slapped her in the face.
The anger he'd bottled up with me was now violently unleashed on her.
"You told her!You bitch!Didn't I say to keep it from her?"
Thomas had thought he'd hidden it well;he believed I shouldn't have known so much.
It wasn't until I exposed Jennie's voice recording that he realized that Jennie had already revealed what he'd desperately tried to conceal.
Jennie had never been hit by him before and she was momentarily stunned.
Coming back to her senses, tears streamed down her face.
"I just accidentally let it slip,Thomas. It's because I love you too much.I want to be with you openly and honestly."
The old Jennie used to cry a lot, too.
No matter what happened,as long as her eyes turned red,Thomas's heart would soften.
With a little more seduction from her,the two of them would be on fire.
But right now,as her sobs filled the room, all Thomas felt was rage surging through his chest.
He was so close.
So close to getting the targeted drug formula,so close to slapping Jeremy in the face.
Then, this stupid woman had ruined everything!
He would be hosting the grandest celebration banquet in a top-tier ballroom if it weren't for her.
Instead of being a stray dog, abandoned by me and mocked by Jeremy.
The thought made him snap.Thomas lunged forward and grabbed Jennie by the throat, veins bulging on the back of his hand.
"Still trying to argue, huh? You're good for nothing but causing trouble. From today on,you're out of the company!"
Jennie's eyes widened, her face turning red from lack of oxygen.
She desperately clawed at Thomas's arm,her eyes rolling back.
Just when she thought she was going to suffocate to death,Thomas suddenly let go,pointing at the door.
"Get out!Don't ever show your face in front of me again."
Jennie coughed for a long while before she could catch her breath.
Looking at the man's ruthless look, she laughed and shouted at the top of her lungs."You deserve it!"
"So what if I told her? She's an orphan with no parents and no one to rely on and you can't even handle her.All you know how to do is take your anger out on me."
Thomas glared at her like he wanted to tear her apart.
Jennie's face was full of mockery.
"You say your only concern is the targeted drug, but now that the formula is gone, the only thing you keep talking about is wanting her back by your side."
"The company is facing a crisis and instead of dealing with it,you're running around looking for her, even waiting for her at the restaurant where she's eating."
"Thomas, have you played yourself into it in the past seven years?"
"Actually, you fell in love with Sharon long ago!"
"Shut up!"Thomas roared,"I did not fall in love with her!Get out!Get out…"
Jennie was thrown out of the villa.
Thomas turned around and saw Hunter.
The shouting had scared the child. He clung to the bedroom doorframe, not daring to make a sound.
Thomas should have comforted him,but he wasn't in the mood.
He collapsed onto the sofa,Jennie's words echoing repeatedly in his mind.
Was it love that he felt for me?
He wasn't sure.
All he knew was he was furious when I broke up with him at the press conference, but underneath that fury was a panic he couldn't explain.
When he returned home and found no trace of me,that panic surged wildly.
That man didn't believe it.He didn't think I could let go of seven years so easily.
He thought I was playing hard to get.He was certain I'd come back.
Thomas secretly vowed to teach me a lesson when I returned to beg him.
But a day passed, then two and I never contacted him.
Thomas vaguely realized my determination and that's when he honestly panicked.
He frantically texted and called me,realizing I had already blocked him.
So,he began searching everywhere, even leaving the company behind.
Still, all I gave him was cold indifference.
At that moment, the pain in his chest drowned out the sting of wounded pride.
He returned home with complex emotions, wanting to vent, only to have Jennie's words pierce his heart deeply.
Thomas, filled with shame and anger, drove her away.As silence settled around him,he could no longer ignore the voice in his heart.
He...had fallen in love with me.
