It took Thomas half a month to find me.
No real reason.Jeremy and I had flown overseas to get my wedding dress custom-made.
When Thomas showed up,the dress had just arrived back home at the bridal shop and I was trying it on.
He'd disguised himself as staff and barged into the fitting room.
"Sharon, are you really going to marry Jeremy?"
I raised my hand and showed him the ring."Does it look fake to you?"
Thomas pulled me into his arms."No!No,Sharon, you promised. You said you'd love me forever.Have you forgotten?"
"You can't marry him.Not without my permission. You can't!You're only allowed to marry me!"
"I even got a ring ready.Marry me,okay?Don't choose Jeremy,I'm begging you.Sharon,marry me."
As he spoke,he pulled out a ring with the exact design I'd once sketched on scrap paper.
Back then,I said I wanted to design our wedding rings myself.Once our new home was ready,we'd get them made.
He just scoffed."You're not even a professional.Who'd want to wear something you designed?"
His words had crushed me,but I was so happy at the thought of marrying him that I finished the sketch anyway.
Before I even had a chance to show it to him,he and his secretary gave me a live,R-rated show in our wedding bedroom.
Now,the thing he'd once looked down on had become a treasure he used to win me over.
I touched the star detail on the ring, then slapped his hand away.
"Thomas, when will you wake up from your dream?"
"We've broken up.Do you understand?"
"I won't marry you.Not in this lifetime,the next,or eight lifetimes!Even if every other man died,I wouldn't choose you again!"
These were my true feelings, but Thomas refused to believe them.
In his mind,I was still madly in love with him.
Seven years ago, when he had nothing,I'd been there to build our life from scratch. Now that he was back to square one,I should continue to stand by him.
The ring had fallen somewhere and Thomas was crawling on the floor like a dog, frantically searching for it.
"No,you said forever and forever means forever…"
"Don't you like this ring anymore? Then we'll buy a new one. What kind do you want?"
His stubbornness left me feeling utterly drained.
Finally,I pointed to the pink diamond on my finger to make him give up."I like this kind and it's worth millions. Can you afford it?"
Thomas froze.
After a long moment,he slowly stood up,a dark glint in his eyes.
"So,it's about money now?Sharon, what's happened to you?"
Before I could speak,he continued as if talking to himself,"It's okay,I don't blame you."
"It's these things that have blinded you,corrupted you.If they're gone,you'll be with me…"
He suddenly grabbed a pair of scissors and started slashing the hem of my wedding dress.
"No matter how gorgeous the dress is,it shouldn't stand in the way of our love…"
It was like he'd gone completely insane. The more he cut,the faster he went.
The dress was in shreds.
The wedding dress was ruined beyond recognition.
A few seconds later,he was dragged away by the bodyguard, his eyes still staring at me.
"Sharon,I won't let you marry him,never!"
