As much as Yuki didn't want to go watch his friend break his bones away. Recovery girl hadn't exactly given him any option.
"Leave or I'll start throwing things at you!"
"But you'll break a hip-- OW! A stapler?!"
"LEAVE!"
Thus, he now sat in his seat watching the introduction of an edgy peppermint and a green glow stick.
"At the sports festival, both have shown top class performances! It's like two great rivals fighting against each other! Now-- Midoriya versus Todoroki!"
Yuki clasped his hands together and took a deep breath, I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt, Midoriya...
"START!!"
Stomping his foot, a surge of ice was headed to the freckled boy who instantly flicked his fingers, halting the ice and scattering the ice itself along with the cold wind.
"Oh my--" Yuki instantly covered his face. Another finger broken.
"Wow! Midoriya stopped Todoroki's attack!" Present Mic shouted. The crowd cheered and rewarding the actions of both boys.
Todoroki sent out another surge of ice to which it was once again destroyed.
"He stopped it again!"
Yuki had his mouth covered. He wanted to yell obscenities at his friend.
Todoroki sent out another path of ice. Stopped. Cool wind hitting the crowds.
"If you overuse your muscles, the muscle fibers tear," Yuki heard looking towards the source.
"And if you keep running, you'll run out of breath." Bakugo continued before looking down at his left arm.
"Quirks are physical abilities, too. They must also have some kind of limit."
Unfortunately... this match has turned into an endurance match.
"Todoroki doesn't recoil from Midoriya's power and gets in close!"
Peppermint was now running almost above Midoriya before said boy flicked--
"One of his injured fingers?!" Yuki shrieked standing up from his seat.
Todoroki appeared from above going for a straight nose dive punch but Midoriya quickly reacts and jumps avoiding it. Icicles popping up from the floor where he once stood before expanding sideways towards him again. A bigger impact this time.
"He's crazy..." Yuki whispers, hearing a faint cry within the harsh wind.
The coolness settles down and Yuki's eyes widen in horror. "His arm--"
A conversation ensues between them. Before Todoroki attacks again with a path of icicles rushing larger than the previous towards Midoriya.
"Here comes the finishing ice attack!" Mic shouted excitedly.
Please finish up already.
The ice shatters once again. The burst of it pushed Todoroki back despite the ice trying to hold him in place.
The stadium quiets as both come to a stand still.
Midoriya shouts at him to give it his all and Todoroki begins to rush towards him.
He's gotten slow! The cold must be getting to his body
As Todoroki lunges himself at Midoriya, the boy ducks, pulls back his arm and manages to punch Todoroki in the gut.
"A solid hit!"
"He got a hit on Todoroki!"
"Even though Midoriya looks way more beat up..."
"I can't believe he went on the offensive here!"
Yuki, who'd been standing the entire time, finally took a seat. Watching Midoriya stumble after the hit was just too much.
Body's can still get irreversible damage even with healing quirks so why...
His friend dodges the ice.
Coming into close range he hits Todoroki with another flick. Continuing to bring further harm to himself.
"Please...."
"Yuki-kun?" Iida turns to Yuki whose eyes are filled with hot tears ready to fall out.
"Please stop the match..." a weak plea.
Modoriya and Todoroki continue to take hit after hit. Ice scatters, another finger further damaged.
They begin to fight with their fists, the cold getting to Todoroki and Midoriya using the arm the least damaged.
"You fool!" Yuki cries out as he sees Midoriya pull on his thumb with his mouth.
Midoriya's movements become sloppier with each hit he releases.
Another punch on Todoroki.
"Please stop the match..."
"Yuki-kun!"
"Stop--"
As thought all pleas were completely neglected, scarlet flames flickered out of Todoroki's left side, setting him ablaze. Hot heat hitting the face of everyone.
"SHOTO!!" Yuki snapped his head towards the voice. The number two hero shouting towards the arena.
"Stop the match!!" Yuki cries out jumping from his seat to the bars.
The immense amount of energy forming creates a shock wave when the two finally collide.
"Hey who won the match!" Yuki had clutched onto the bars, now bent over he looked out into the arena clearing up.
A cry escapes Yuki as he sees Midoriya slid down the wall next to the tunnel before collapsing.
"M-Midoriya is out of bounds... Todoroki advances to the third round!" Midnight shouts.
Without delay Yuki lost his balance, falling back.
"YUKI!" Iida reaches out to help before Yuki begins to scamper out of the seating area and book it for Recovery Girl's.
Hurry... HURRY! Reduce as much damage as possible! Make it so it'll heal as much as possible... if not now then later. Just reduce the injuries! RUN!!
Yuki ran past people getting snacks, possibly knockin over a few of them. He made turns too sharp and slammed into more walls than he'd hoped for. His shoes squeak at every sudden stop and go. If he had Iida's quirk he probably still wouldn't have gotten there as fast as he'd want to.
"Bones on your right arm, absolutely shattered..." Yuki calmly stated as Midoriya's face exhibited agony with every movement.
"It'll never be the same as before, with both our treatments."
"We need to remove the piece of bone to make sure they don't stay in your joints. We'll heal you after--"
"I'll set up the supplies." Yuki spoke as he went to the bathroom to wash his hands.
Recovery Girl let out a sigh, "To push and light a fire under a child who would destroy his body this much for what he yearns for... I don't like it. And most especially Yuki-kun. You're going too far. You, and this boy. You can't praise him for this." she told Toshinori.
"I've been saying that since the first day of hero training class." Yuki piped in with surgical supplies in hand.
"MIDORIYA/DEKU!!"
Surprised, Yuki almost dropped the tools.
"You, scared me..." Toshinori proclaimed, handing over his chest.
"Take it easy, old man."
"Old Man?!"
"Are you okay?! Deku?!" Uraraka asked before turning to Toshinori. "Oh, nice to meet you..."
"Yeah..."
"Obviously not." Yuki's frown was harsh.
"You're all so noisy." Recovery Girl complained.
"Everyone...what about the next match?"
"The aesthetic must be kicking in if that's the first thing you want to know." Yuki scowled.
"Since there was a lot of damage to the stage, they're taking a break to repair it." Iida happily informed him.
"That match earlier was scary, Midoriya... What pro's gonna want that?" Mineta warned.
Instinctively Yuki turned to All Might's deflated form who happened to catch his threatening gaze, letting out nervous chuckle.
"I don't like your style of rubbing stalks into his wound." Tsuyu told him.
"They're more than just wounds." Yuki piped in, they're capable of leaving him disabled if he continues.. Whatever this is..."
"Shut up, all of you!" Recovery Girl softly shouts waving them out the door.
"I know you're worried, but we've got to do surgery now."
"SURGERY?!"
"Go on now, get out of here." she ushered them.
"B-But--"
"Surgery's a big deal, isn't it?"
"Will his injuries be completely healed?"
"Don't worry about that. Just leave it to us!"
"I'm sorry..." Midoriya began. "If only i hadn't said anything...It's because I said that to Todoroki...that I..."
"You were trying to get him to realize something..."
"It's true...Todoroki looked so sad...that I meddled when I didn't need to...But that's not it. More importantly, back then, I was just...frustrated. I couldn't see it in front of me. I'm sorry."
Yuki turned away from Midoriya, returning to setting up the machines.
"It's true that it is a regrettable result. Saying what you did was foolish won't change that. But you know, meddling when you don't need to...is the essence of being a hero." Toshinori concluded.
Yuki gripped onto the wires tightly.
"We're done here Yuki-kun. I just need to finish up the final touch." Recovery Girl told him.
"It's almost your turn, isn't it?"
"Yeah..."
"Good luck."
"Thank you."
The match versus Tokoyami was a bit of a blur for Yuki.
Having just done an operation with Recovery Girl was mentally exhausting so he'd allowed his body reflexes to do whatever it wanted. He'd recall jumping over dark shadow and going into close combat with him but between that and when Tokoyami was tapping out, arm and leg being pulled almost out of their joints, did Yuki finally snap back to being himself.
Yuki advanced to the third round and deeply apologized to Tokoyami who only saw it as someone going all out in a match.
"In addition, Yuki and I will no longer heal Injuries like these. Don't even bother asking Yuki-kun to heal you for a while." Recovery Girl broke the news to the two One for All users.
"You must find a way for him to use his power in a way that is not so self-destructive. Yuki-kun has been warning you since the beginning and to be honest I should have too."
Before the two left, Recovery Girl gave them one last warning, "And I'm completely serious about not asking Yuki to heal you any more for the time being. If you need healing come to me. Yuki no longer has permission to heal anyone as of this moment. Am I clear?"
"Y-Yes, Ma'am!"
"With that vicious carpet-bombing, Bakugo advances to the third round!"
Yuki glanced up at the screen.
"I'm screwed." he whispered.
"I think you'll do great Yuki-kun! You managed to out smart both Mina and Tokoyami."
"Because they were mid-to-long range fighters. Bakugo does more damage in close combat. And it'll just go down hill from there the longer we fight." Yuki sighed, sliding into his seat.
"I give you the honors to make a speech at my funeral..."
"EH?!"
"I'm gonna head down. I need to make sure I stretch properly so I don't pull anything."
"You'll be fine. I feel that you're exaggerating too much. Yuki~ Recovery Girl can alway heal you anyways!" Uraraka smiled. Her attempts of trying to cheer him up as he'd done with her were...failing.
Yuki stayed quiet as he looked down onto the stage.
"Heal me, huh?"
