"Yuki-kun,"
"Yuki."
"Yuki~"
"Wake up, Yuki-kun. It's time for the awards!"
"Five more minutes..."
"Yuki!"
Making the ugliest face he took a peek at his friends trying to pull his arms from his pockets.
"You can stop trying to pull me up. I won't give in." he slurred.
"I get that you're tired but the top three places have to get going!" Uraraka insisted.
"Pfft~ Who said that~"
"Is Yuki-kun drunk?" Yaoyorozu asked, glancing at the ill mannered boy he was being.
"I'm not... it's just exhaustion... usually happens after healing-- but...today's an exceptions~" Yuki giggled.
Which is true. A side effect of overusing his quirk included drowsiness and becoming generally sluggish like. With enough stressors, movement, and mental exhaustion it tended to imitate his overusing.
"Come on, Yuki-kun!"
"Only if you make me float halfway--"
"All of the first-year events for this year's U.A. sports festivals have been completed. And now, we will begin the award ceremony!" Midnight announced.
Yuki stood on third place podium alone. Apparently Iida had a family emergency.
He glanced up to his right, eyes still heavy and feeling drowsy from his short, deep slumber.
Poor Bakugo...
The explosive blonde had to be chained and muffled the second he woke up and began struggling. It was obvious enough to Yuki something didn't go as he would have liked it to have gone and hence was glaring daggers at Todoroki.
Cheers and congratulations shouted from the audience. Yuki felt like sitting down....
"In addition to Satori, there is also Iida in third place, but he left early for family reasons. Thank you for your understanding!" She winked at the camera's.
"Now, we will award the medals! The presentation of the medals will, of course, be by this man--"
An all too familiar laugh echoed from the top of the stadium.
"Ah, the old man. Of course..." Yuki hummed looking up as All Might leaped off the roof.
"Our very own hero, All Might!"
"I have brought the medals here!"
What?
Yuki narrowed his eyes at All Might as he approached him with a third place medal.
"Young Yuki, congratulations. You sure are stronger than you look."
"Thank you, All Might, sir. I did it all without nearly dying." Yuki bowed slightly as the number one hero placed the medal over his head.
Yuki's expression was something All Might could only explain as threatening and irritating.
In an attempt to apologize, the number one hero went in for a hug.
"You did really well despite your quirk not quite being suited for battle--"
"Yes, thank you for the compliments but I don't think a hug is necessary." Yuki yawned.
All Might chucked awkwardly before moving on to Todoroki, in second place.
Can I go now?
"Now then, Young Bakugo! This is too much."
"Ya think?" Yuki sarcastically asked.
"His arms must be sore and to have that much weight on them, it'll probably keep him sore for a couple days."
All Might sighed before beginning to remove the muzzle. "Good job doing what you said you would during the player pledge!"
"All Might... First place like this... is not worth anything!" Bakugo expressed frustratingly.
"Even if the world recognizes it, if I don't recognize it myself, then it's trash!"
"Pfft!" the healer was surprised he wasn't complaining about the possible pain in his shoulders, arms and wrists.
"Right." All Might agreed. "In this world where people are constantly being compared publicly, there are not many who can keep aiming for the top of an unchanging scale."
HIs face is amazing! Yuki chuckled as All Might reached for the first place medal.
"Take this medal, okay? Think of it as a 'wound,' so you never forget!"
Yuki doubted that would work.
"I said I didn't want it!"
"Now, now."
All Might missed getting it over the blonds head and thus settled with having it dangle from the clutches of the feral teens teeth.
"Well, they were the winners this time! But listen here! Anyone here could have ended up on these podiums. It's just as you saw-- Competing! Improving each other! And climbing even further! The next generation of heroes is definitely sprouting! So, I have just one more things to say!"
Yuki made sure to cover his ears.
"Everyone, please say it with me!"
Great...
"Ready, go--
Thanks for your hard work!"
"Plus Ultra!"
The amount of sound Yuki could physically feel was enough to leave him trembling.
"Good work." Aizawa told the class.
Yuki was leaned over his table in exhaustion. It was the end of the day and he didn't understand why they needed to regroup after the festival.
Couldn't they just send out an email or a phone call...
"So there will be no school tomorrow or the day after. I'm sure the pro heroes who watched the sports festival will want to recruit you, but we'll consolidate everything and announce it when you get back. So rest well, and look forward to that."
"Yes, Sir."
No school for two days... yay.
"Satori, come to the teachers office before you leave. We have a couple things to discuss."
Yuki glanced up lazily, "hai~"
"You wanted to speak to me, Aizawa-sensei?" Yuki slowly blinked. Repressing a yawn.
"Yes, it's regarding your training with me."
"Ah, right."
"Even if Recovery Girl and I managed to set a schedule for you to follow every week, the incidents leading up after it have complicated things. Your training will properly be taking place after the week of internships. Though I do expect you to continue practicing using the capture weapon."
Yuki only nodded.
"I assume Recovery Girl has informed you of your internships, am I correct?"
"Yes, sir."
"Good. I'll also begin train someone else during the week. Upon your return, you two will be training together and hopefully make things easier for me." Aizawa sighed. "How's the other work coming along?"
"Work? As in Hospital work?"
"No, the paper work I asked you to have completed before--"
"Oh! Right! Yes, I'm almost done. I just need a couple more things to double check. I'll have them on your desk before the final exams."
"Good. I suppose this was better than have you do nothing for a few hero training classes."
"Yes..."
I would've liked to sleep during those classes though...
"Well, then that is all for now. I'll let you know if anything else comes up. See you in two days."
"Thank you very much, Aizawa-sensei." Yuki bowed before taking his leave.
Once Yuki got home he made sure to take a nice long shower before tending to his minor injuries he'd received throughout the day.
He was mentally exhausted and from the short text of Chiyo-sensei saying to take it easy, he'd assumed she wouldn't be calling him to help out in nearby hospitals.
"Did Bakugo really have to do an explosion from up close?" Yuki hissed, gently pouring on some disinfectant.
"He should also learn to control how much impact his explosions should have..."
Placing bandages over tender parts of his skin.
The following day, Yuki was rudely awakened by the sound of someone bangging violently on his front door.
"OI! OPEN UP!!"
An arm was sent out from beneath the covers insearch of his cellular device.
"Who the hell is this loud at--" Yuki squinted at his screen... "11...? No.... oh..."
"OPEN UP YOU SHITTY EXTRA IT'S ALREADY ONE IN THE AFTERNOON!!"
Yuki then proceeded to hear his doorbell go off multiple times in a row.
"I'm going!" Yuki cried out as he internally sobbed.
Can't I sleep in! *sob*
Yuki made sure he slipped on a relatively large shirt and some sweatpants that happened to be laying on his chair on his way to the front door.
"Why are you so loud?" Yuki yawned opening the door to see a pissed off Bakugo somehow get more pissed off upon seeing him.
Then again when is he not.
"Why the hell are you still sleeping?!"
"I'm not. I still would have had you not waken me uuUUuUUUuPpPPppPppP~" He yawned.
"Tch."
"What are you doing here? Do you need something?"
"I came to give you this!" Bakugo roughly handed a plastic bag with what Yuki could tell with sleep eyes were things to tend to small injuries.
"I appreciate your effort in buying these but you forget that I also volunteer at hospitals."
"What does that have to do with anything?"
"I have these things already... but I suppose it was time to restock."
Bakugo frowned.
Getting the feeling there was another reason he'd come to visit him, Yuki sighed waving at him to come in.
"Make yourself at home, I need to go brush my teeth."
Bakugo silently followed in.
Unlike before, Yuki's living room wasn't as messy as the last time he was over with the others.
Bakugo observed just how large the living room was once Yuki was no longer in the room.
Is it always this way?
Once Yuki managed to detangle his hair and tie it up to look somewhat presentable he headed back down.
"So!" Yuki spoke up. Slightly starling a Bakugo who was in deep thought. "What else brings you around here?"
"How did you know?" the blond asked following the slender boy to the kitchen.
"Know about what? Do you want something to drink?"
"No. How did you know about my arms."
Yuki took out a capri sun. "Your arms?"
"Yeah. During our match, you purposely put pressure on my arms. How did you know?"
Yuki sat on the kitchen island. "Oh, that." he took a long sip before replying.
"Well, I suspected something like that would happen. Since you mentioned quirks just being an extension of ourselves and what not. It got me thinking about what your weakness could be," he took another sip.
"Of course I wasn't exactly 100% sure I'd make it past Tokoyami--"
"So you just went off of a theory?"Bakugo crossed his arms, annoyed.
"Yeah. Is that all you came over for?" Yuki asked.
Yuki was clearly exhausted. But Bakugo still wanted to ask.
"Where did you learn to fight?"
"Oh you know...I'd throw a punch every now and then as some crazy dude in the emergency rooms..." Yuki chuckled. That was a part of the truth.
"Was that all?"
"I don't like being interrogated, Bakugo Katsuki." Yuki warned.
The blond stayed silent.
"If you want to ask, go ahead. But that doesn't mean I'll answer."
Having thought of how he could word it out he noticed how Yuki's figure was now guarded.
"Where did you get those scars?"
"Which ones?" Yuki smirked. "You have to be more specific, Bakugo-kun--"
"The ones on your back."
Yuki smirk disappeared. "While I was out in the countryside of Japan."
"What were you doing there?"
Yuki scowled. "Sightseeing. I think it's about time you get going. I've got things to do."
Bakugo scoffed. "We have two days off. What could someone like you possibly be doing--"
Yuki reached out and pulled on one of Bakugo's wrists.
"What are you doing?!"
"Looking at your hand..." Yuki plainly told him as he indeed studied the blonds palm.
"Why?!"
Yuki didn't reply instead, he let him go.
"You can show yourself out. I have paperwork to fill out."
He waved the confused explosive boy away, retreating back to his bedroom.
A type of training to improve his quirk... Yuki wondered.
The sound of the front door closing allowed him to finally relax and sigh of relief.
"Stupid. As if I was just gonna tell someone about them." Yuki chuckled, removing his shirt and looking at the reflection of his body. Decorated with years of pain. Each and every single scar had their own story.
Many of which were there for no reason.
For no reason at all...
