"Okay, that's it for class. There's only one week left until the final exams. You all are studying properly, right?" Aizawa asked.
Yuki could barley keep his head up let alone his eyelids. He was exhausted and worn down.
His friends had noticed but silently hoped it was just his usual all nighters in search of answers...however...
Yuki's head suddenly fell forward causing him to jerk up.
"I'm sure you already know, but it won't just be a written exam. There's also a practical component. Make sure you train your minds and bodies at the same time. That's all."
With that Aizawa closed the door and the panic ensued.
"I haven't studied at all!"
Ashido let out almost a dead laughter as Kaminari looked as though they just told him he was about to die.
Ashido Mina- 19th
Kaminari Denki- 20th
"It's true that we had one event after another, but..."
Tokohyami Fumikage- 14th
Koda Koji- 11th
"It'll be tough since there's a practical exam, too."
Mineta Minoru- 10th
"Tenth on the midterms?!"
"And here I thought you were one of us!" Ashido accused.
"Guys lie you are only likable if they're dumb!" Kaminari strained. "Where's the demand for this?!"
Yuki could practically feel the smugness radiate of off the perv.
"The world, I guess."
"Ashido, Kaminari! L-let's do our best! We all want to go to the training camp together, right?"
Midoriya Izuku- 5th
"Yes! As a class rep, I also have high hopes that you'll all be moved to action!"
Iida Tenya- 3rd
"It's pretty hard to fail if you just pay attention in class."
Todoroki Shoto- 6th
"Be careful with your words!" Kaminari cried.
"You two, I may be able to be of assistance with the class lectures."
Yaoyorozu Momo-✨1st✨
"I can't help at all with the practical, though..." class pres. Stated gloomingly.
"I'm sure you can figure something out." Yuki reassured her.
Satori Yuki- 2nd
"I'm not one of those two, but can I join, too? I'm having some trouble with quadratic functions..."
Jiro Kyoka- 8th
"Sorry, me too! How are you with classical Japanese?"
Sero Hanta- 17th
"I'd like to join, too. There's still a bunch of things I don't understand..."
Ojiro Mashiro- 9th
"Yes, of course!"
"Look at the difference in virtue."
Kirishima Eijiro- 15th
"I can do it, too! Want me to beat it into you?!"
Bakugo Katsuki- 4th
"Yeah I'm counting on you!"
"Everyone's panicking now, even though it won't do any good to cram this late in the game."
Aoyama Yuga- 18th
"Shouldn't you try cramming a little?"
Shoji Mezo- 11th
"What are you talking about? What is it?"
"Yuki-kun...I don't mean to sound mean but--"
Uraraka Ochaco- 13th
"I look like shit don't I?"
It's almost been roughly three weeks since his training with Aizawa and Hitoshi began. And after having gotten used to the training regime his sadistic homeroom teacher had given him, out came with another stack of papers with more intense training. So now he sat at his desk, face flat on his desk with a stupid amount of soreness he knew he would disapprove of had someone come to him for healing.
"Are getting enough sleep Yuki-kun! It is important to get sufficient amounts of sleep and--" Iida asked.
"I am." Yuki mumbled. "Just training...and trying to stay alive."
Lunch came and Yuki couldn't recall when Tsuyu and Todoroki began sitting with them but he didn't particularly care too much.
"The practical exam, huh? It's kind of scary since I can't tell what'll be on it." Midoriya wondered.
Yuki couldn't help but notice how Todoroki didn't say his thanks for the food but who was he to judge. Yuki would sometimes skip that part and dig in.
"I don't think it'll be anything crazy." Iida replied.
"The written exam questions will come from what we study in class,"
"You don't say." Yuki interrupted before eating a piece of his fish.
Midoriya sweat-dropped, "...so I should be able to manage somehow, but..."
"You can manage, huh?" Uraraka deadpanned, clearly envious at his midterm placement.
"Seriously, what'll we have to do for the practical exam?"
Yuki finished chewing before adding in, "It'll be a comprehensive test of everything from the first semester. Don't think about it too hard."
"That's all Aizawa-sensei would tell us..."
Asui Tsuyu- 7th
"Everything we did so far... So, combat training and rescue training, and then basic training..." Uraraka listed.
"They'll probably add on to what they assume we've worked on in our free time." Yuki yawned.
"In addition to studying, we'll have to keep in good physical condi--"
Midoriya was then rudely interrupted by a familiar face.
"Oh, sorry. Your head was so big that I accidentally hit it."
Monoma Neito...
Yuki only recognized him because he'd been to the nurse's office a couple times during class 1-B hero training.
"You're from Class B!...Um..."
"Monoma." Yuki acknowledged.
"I heard you guys met the hero killer."
This caught the boys' attention.
"Just like at the sports festival, you guys in Class A just have to have all the attention, huh?" he taunted.
Yuki continued to eat his rice. He was just like what he was accusing them off.
Wanting attention.
"But that attention isn't because people have high hopes for you. It's because you keep attracting trouble, right?"
"Keep talking and my fists will definitely be attracted to your face." Yuki glared.
"Oh, that's scary." Monoma returned the expression.
"Someday, the rest of us might also be caught up in trouble you bring and become victims as well..."
Yuki was on his feet and ready to lounge at this nuisance of a human.
"Like getting cursed by the god of pestilence!"
"Yuki--"
"Oh, that's scar--"
"Monoma, that's not funny." a girl with orange hair interrupted. Hitting Monoma unconscious.
"Don't you know what happened to Iida?" she scolded.
"Kendo!"
"Sorry, Class A. This guy's heart's just kinds, you know."
Her tone and shift in atmosphere caused Yuki to return back to his seat.
"You guys were talking earlier about how you don't know what's gonna be on the practical exam for the finals, right?"
Yuki grabbed a fork and proceeded to stab his vegetables.
I don't even wanna think about the exams...
"Looks like it'll be combat against robots like the entrance exam."
"What? Really?! How do you know?"
Todoroki and Yuki were the only ones half listening and minding their business. Food, being the business.
"An upperclassman friend of mine told me." Kendo proudly stated.
"It's kind of cheating, though."
"No, it's not cheating." Midoriya began.
"That's right, I'm sure gathering information ahead of time is also part of the test--"
"OI! No muttering during meals!" Yuki frowned.
"YAY!"
"Oh, it'll be easy if it's robots!" Kaminari shrugged.
"Yeah, yeah!" Ashido agreed.
"You guys look like you'd have a hard time controlling your quirks against people." Shoji commented.
"Yeah! But I can just let loose with robots, so it'll be a cinch!"
"And it'll be a cinch for me to melt them!"
"Now all you just need Yaoyorozu to help you study, and you'll be set for the finals!" Sero cheered them on.
"We'll definitely be able to go to training camp now!"
Robots sound too easy compared to what we've all been through... If they are robots at least I know which wires to pull out.
"It doesn't matter if they're robots. They're the same if you beat 'em up, right?" Bakugo told them.
"What're you idiots talking about it being a cinch for?"
"Who're you calling an idiot?!"
"Shut up! If you need to control you quirk, then control it! Idiots!" Bakugo barked back.
He's not wrong.
"Hey, Deku! I don't know if you've figured out how to use your quirk a little or what, but you seriously keep getting on my nerves."
Oof. I guess he did notice Midoriya use his moves the other day.
"I don't need another half-assed result like the sports festival. At the upcoming finals, we'll get individual scores, so we'll see who's better whether you like it or not. I'll beat you with an indisputable difference!" The angry blond declared. "I'll kill you!"
Midoriya didn't respond.
"Todoroki! You too!"
Bakugo then stormed out of the classroom, making sure to slam the door behind him.
"It's been awhile since I've seen Bakugo that intense." Kirishima sighed.
"Impatience...or hated?" Tokoyami asked no one in particular.
Yuki coughed loudly, clearing up the tense room.
"I should get going too or I'll be late."
"Finals are in a week." Hitoshi sighed.
"A lot of sighing today." Yuki mumbled.
"What?"
"Nothing. It's just all this talk of the exams is getting annoying." Yuki admitted.
Yuki hadn't even known it was possible to do this much stretching in preparation of their afternoon training but alas, it was necessary to minimize as much pain afterwards.
Or during.
"Don't like exams?" Hitoshi only chuckled.
Yuki scoffed, "What sane person does?"
He bent forward to touch his toes, "I wouldn't have thought too much about the final exams but being in the hero course-- of course there's gonna be a practical part to it."
"I overheard you'd be up against robots like the entrance exam." Hitoshi noted.
"I hope so." Yuki doubted.
"Don't believe it?"
"It just seems too easy, not to sound like a cocky bastard but--" Yuki paused.
"What is it?"
"With everything Class 1-A has gone through, I'm not sure they'd like to go easy on us."
Hitoshi didn't know how to reply to that. It was clear something was bothering Yuki but he didn't really know him all too well to push further.
"Should we get started?" he offered.
"Yeah." Yuki nodded getting on to his feet.
It was four days before the exams. It also happened to be one of the few rest days Aizawa gave them, so what did Yuki use it for? He used it to study. School had let out a couple minutes ago but everyone, also trying to cram as much information into their skulls as possible, scattered into their study groups.
Yuki was in the school library for a good hour or so before a pair of noisy voices kept distracting him. Annoyed, as well as the few others in the library, he decided to gather his things and leave. That was, before he realized whose voices they belonged to.
Walking up to the familiar pair he made his presence known.
"You know if I had a quirk where i could silence things I'd silence you in a millisecond."
"HA?!" they flinched at what felt like a thousand 'SSSSHHHHH!'s From the heavens aimed towards them.
"We should probably go somewhere else. The librarian isn't usually one to kill but," Yuki drew out his sentence as he nodded his head towards the lady glaring at them.
"I think she's willing to make an exception today."
Kirishima glanced over before sending a silent apology to the librarian. The red eyed blond grunted something along the lines of whatever.
Yuki wondered if he was the one to have suggested to follow him or if they just decided to tag along because the three were currently in a very familiar cafe.
"YUKI-KUN!!"
"Yuki?"
"He's here?!"
"WHERE?!"
"Good afternoon Sato-san! Gramps! Everyone!" Yuki smiled, waved and bowed politely.
"It's been so long."
"Damn Right it has! How have you been my boy!" the old man shouted waving, what Yuki was pretty sure was, an icing smoother.... With icing still on it.
"You should visit more often, ya hear me boy!"
"Gramps! Your flinging icing on the walls!"
"Yeah, plus look he has friends!"
"Friends?!"
"Sato-san!" Yuki exclaimed, feeling his ears heat up with embarrassment.
"Sorry about that..." Yuki turned to the two.
"We're here to study--"
"Oh yes, of course, I heard exams where coming up. Please take a seat we'll bring some drinks over."
"We haven't ordered yet!" Kirishima smiled.
"Don't worry about it! Tell us what you want and we'll bring it over! On the house!"
"Sato-san, please. You can't keep doing that." Yuki sighed as the lady ushered them to a booth where it was suitable to study.
"Don't worry, don't worry about it. Let me know when you've settled on something. Do you want the usual?" She asked, glancing at Yuki whose ears were a nice shade of pink.
"Y-yeah."
"Alright, I'll be back then, only drinks? Nothing to munch on?"
"Sato-san, they need to look at the menu..."
"Oh! Of course. Of course, here you go--"
"Ma! Leave them alone! It was about time he got some friends! You're going to scare them off!"
"You come here often?" Kirishima asked jokingly.
"I'm so sorry." Yuki covered his face. Clearly overwhelmed.
"No! Don't be, I was kidding!"
"I used to come here almost everyday for a couple of years, more so last year." Yuki sighed, taking his class notes and an empty notebook.
He was sitting on the outside of the booth with Kirishima next to the window and Bakugo across from them.
After a good couple of hours studying, mostly Bakugo yelling and hitting Kirishima with a rolled up notebook and Yuki walking him step by step in things that were too confusing, they decided it was time to call it a day.
"Yuki-kun!" a soft voice spoke.
He turned around to see a girl whom he'd known for about three years now.
"Mieko-chan! How have you been?!"
Kirishima and Bakugo noticed the shocked expression on Yuki.
"I've been doing well, thank to you." she smiled kindly at Yuki who only returned it.
"Are you eating well? Nothing out of the ordinary?" Yuki asked holding out his hand to which Meiko shyly took it and shook her head.
"Nothing out of the ordinary."
"That's good to hear."
"Yuki-kun,"
"What is it?"
"I... I wanted... I wanted to--"
"OI! Yuki Come here Boy! You need to take this with ya!" the old man from the kitchen shouted.
"Oh no." Yuki whispered before smiling apologetically at the girl.
"Sorry, Meiko-chan. I gotta run now." with a gentle pat on the head he turned towards his classmates and began to push them out.
"Hey, your gramps is callin--" Kirishima exclaimed.
"No he's not." Yuki quickly responded.
"BOY IF YOU DON'T TAKE THIS CAKE--"
"GRAMPS, YOU RUINED IT!!" Meiko shouted, clearly irritated.
"RUINED?! Girly this cake is the most flawless thing in this--"
"Dad! She's not talking about the cake--"
"Then what?!"
The trio were already out the door by the time the old man remembered why he was holding a three story cake in the middle of the cafe.
"Are you sure it was fine leaving that way?" Kirishima asked, feeling a bit at fault.
"Perfectly fine. Don't worry about it." Yuki nodded.
From all of his past experience it was best to leave when the family was distracted or else he'd never leave the place. And if he did, he might as well own a van to ship all the food they'd force him to take back to his house.
Bakugo wasn't sure if Yuki remembered their first encounter. He sure did. Hardly any establishments in the city were this friendly with their customers.
It really was a family cafe. May it be the family who owns the cafe or the cafe welcoming anyone as though they were family. Maybe that was why Yuki liked going there.
In Bakugo's opinion, at least.
"Well, my place is this way. See ya at school!" Yuki smiled.
"Bye man!" Kirishima grinned, "Thanks for helping me out!"
"Anytime!"
Bakugo only clicked his tongue and continued to walk.
Bonus!
"Yuki!" Iida suddenly exclaimed.
"Iida!" The boy replied slamming his hands on the table.
"You made me color out of the lines!"
"You have a scar!"
"Where?"
"A little one on your right jawline."
"Oh yeah, I've had it for a while now. Nothing new."
"And another one above the corner of your right eye."
"Yes that one too"
"And another one—"
"On my eyelid, yes Iida I know. Thanks for the reminder." Yuki acknowledged.
"Yuki-kun I just realized you have tiny scars on your face and neck. They're so faint too." Uraraka noted leaning in a bit close to Yuki's left side of his face.
"Because they happened a long time ago can I please get back to coloring?" his eye twitched.
"But you need to do homework, that is why we're here!" Iida proclaimed.
"Well I finished it the day before, hence the coloring book." Yuki informed, returning to his coloring book.
"They why did you come?" Uraraka asked looking betrayed.
"To offer moral support and occasionally let you know something like..."
Yuki leaned over to Midoriya's side.
"The answer to problem 9g is wrong, you forgot about this one." he pointed on the freckled boy's paper.
"Ah!"

"Ah!"
