Blaze POV
Lucifer and I raced ahead, Jaxon and his mate Alex right behind us. We could smell Jordan’s scent. It was so close we could almost taste it. I inhaled deeply, breathing it in, my paws thudding hard against the ground as I passed by trees and leaped over fallen branches. I saw Jordan’s white wolf ahead and skidded to a stop, breathing in a sigh of relief, even as fury flooded through me as I saw another wolf behind her. It had to be that bastard Alpha Romero. I nuzzled Jordan and then leaped towards Romero, whose wolf had darted forward, tackling him, Lucifer unleashing his rage on the other wolf, as I let him take complete control. Otherwise, it would have been a fight between Lucifer and me, and I suspected Lucifer would have won in the end anyway, judging by the fury that was sweeping through his body.
Son of a b***h is going to die for this snarled Lucifer, as we rolled over and onto our feet, glaring at Romero’s large black wolf, our eyes glittering with hatred. We sized each other up.
Don’t get too cocky, remember he’s an Alpha too I reminded him, observing from the back of my mind, through Lucifer’s eyes.
I just want to get back to our mate and make sure she’s unharmed. If he’s hurt her Lucifer growled I’ll rip him limb from limb. After I inflict as much pain as I possibly can on him. Bastard.
Romero ran towards us and we darted to the side, our claws lashing out and gouging his side as he gave a small howl of pain. We turned and leaped, skidding onto his back and biting into his shoulder before falling off and facing him again. Romero looked pissed, his eyes flashing now. He snarled at us, his jaw clamping open and shut. Lucifer growled. Romero’s eyes widened and then he turned and tried to run. Coward. He must have figured out by then that he couldn’t win against us. We cut him off, our tail swishing, our eyes narrowed on him. If he thought he was going to try and escape us, he had another thing coming. He had signed his own death warrant when he’d taken Jordan, the son of a b***h should have known that.
He jumped and we met him in mid-air, our feet pushing into his mid-section and sending him flying backward into a nearby tree trunk that made a sickening cracking noise and then toppled backwards as he fell to the floor with a heavy thud. Lucifer landed on his feet and waited patiently, still seething with rage. Romero got back onto his legs and stumbled. He didn’t look so arrogant now. In fact, he looked quite pitiful. There were deep scratches along his sides and back, presumably from the branches of the trees as he’d been sent flying into it. Lucifer ran straight towards him and jumped, landing on his back. Romero growled, bucking and kicking, attempting to get us off him. We dug our claws in and dragged them down his back, eliciting a loud howl of pain from Romero before we rolled off of him. There was blood trickling down from his wounds now and pooling around him. He looked weaker, and pathetic, swaying on his paws. Lucifer smirked. This was like a game to my wolf now. He was enjoying seeing his enemy be defeated so easily. Romero had made a big mistake in taking our mate. Something told me he was starting to realize that now, judging by the look on his stupid wolf face. Or maybe he was facing the stark reality that his death was inevitable now.
Lucifer darted forward, grabbed Romero by the scruff of his neck, and then sent him flying into another tree. He yelped to our satisfaction.
That sounded like it hurt Lucifer growled, sounding smug let’s see how much more pain we can inflict on the bastard, shall we?
Don’t let down your guard. Just because he’s injured and in pain, doesn’t mean he’s not able to fight. Even wounded animals will fight to the death.
I’m not stupid Blaze. Stop underestimating me. You act like this is my first fight or something. Geez. Romero stumbled and tried to turn in the opposite direction. Lucifer jumped over him and turned, staring at him challengingly. Clearly, this was not going as Romero had anticipated. Lucifer spared a quick glance at Jordan. Her face was pale as she watched the fight. Jaxon and Alex were comforting her. It was lucky those two were gay, otherwise, Lucifer would be going off his rocket right now, considering all three of them were naked. Romero’s eyes darted back and forth as he frantically tried to look for a way out. He was losing so much blood, that it was a miracle he was able to continue to stand. I admired him for his tenacity and his stubbornness. Lucifer began to stalk towards him, his eyes blazing. Romero’s wolf began to slowly back away. It was cornered and it knew it. He looked fearful and I relished in his fear. How did it feel to be on the other end of it, I mocked silently in my head. To know that there was nobody there to save you and that your death was seconds away?
Romero shifted into his human form. He knelt, his body covered in bruises, scrapes, gouges, and scratches. Blood pooled around him. He was pale and defeated-looking. He no longer resembled a proud Alpha male. He held his hands up as though surrendering. “I concede” he choked out, like a pathetic coward, Lucifer c*****g his head and staring at him consideringly. “Alright, I concede. You win. Take her and go” he hissed, bowing his head, his shoulders slumped. He was trying to look like he no longer posed a threat, but Lucifer and I were not so easily fooled. If this was a trap, it was a poorly thought-out one.
He thinks we’ll just let him go. Just like that? Does he think because he has changed into his human form that we’ll show him mercy and forgiveness? Is he stupid? Or does he think that we are that forgiving?
Perhaps. Or maybe he thinks we’ll take him back to be put on trial or tortured.
I will not subject my mate to something so heinous and traumatic as that. This male has done enough to her. I will not allow her to feel unsafe any longer than she has to Lucifer snapped.
I agree. There are times when we should show mercy Lucifer, but this is not one of those times. Do what you must. We can not afford to show weakness, especially in front of our mate, let alone another Alpha.
Ah yes, I had quite forgotten about Alpha Jaxon, thank you for reminding me. If we don’t kill him, then Alpha Jaxon most certainly will. I want that privilege. I’ll be damned if I let another Alpha take that away from me.
Lucifer darted forward as Alpha Romero tensed and then bit down on the man’s neck, tearing into his throat and severing the man’s head from his body as blood spurted everywhere. I dimly heard a scream from the background as Lucifer let the head drop to the ground before he turned and surveyed Jordan who had fainted, Jaxon holding her in his arms. He was instantly remorseful.
s**t, I may have overdone it. Mate is out cold. I thought she would look away!
It can’t be helped. At least Alpha Romero doesn’t pose a threat to her anymore!
Lucifer trotted forward and nudged Jordan with his snout. Jaxon barely even glanced at the large black wolf. He certainly wasn’t intimidated by it. That disappointed Lucifer slightly. Jordan stirred, her eyelids fluttering. She glanced up and gasped out loud. Lucifer nuzzled her with his head, trying to convey his concern. Her hand reached up and lightly touched his face. He licked it and she giggled despite herself.
“Blaze” she whispered, and the wolf shook his head, giving her an insulted expression.
“Lucifer” she breathed, and he nodded, looking happier.
She patted him, Lucifer basking in her affection as Jaxon carefully put her sitting down on the floor. She hugged him tight and he practically purred. Like a damn cat! This wolf was complete and utter putty when it came to Jordan. Mind you, so was I, I admitted to myself sheepishly.
She has her breasts pushed against my side he told me smirking.
I rolled my eyes. Horn bag. When she hugged him tight, I swear he pushed himself against her so he could feel her breasts pushing against him even more.
Alright, that’s it, I’m taking back control I glared as Lucifer pouted.
Jealous are we? Maybe she likes me more he told me smugly.
You’re taking advantage of our mate while she’s feeling vulnerable I told him sternly.
No, I’m not, I’m merely being clever. Besides she doesn’t seem to mind he said nonchalantly.
Lucifer I thundered.
He begrudgingly gave back control. Then sulked like a petulant wolf cub who had had his favorite toy taken off of him.
I shifted, pushing back from Jordan, turning into my human form, before I rushed over and cupped her gorgeous face, ignoring Jaxon and Alex for the moment. “Are you alright honey? Did he hurt you? What about the baby?” I said hastily.
I saw her eyes shining with unshed tears. “No” she whispered “I managed to get away before… before” she choked out “Oh Blaze he was going to kill the baby” she sobbed.
“Son of a b***h” I swore, holding her tight, hearing her heartbeat racing “But he can’t hurt you now, Lucifer took care of him” I assured her, hearing her heart racing and attempting to comfort her the best I could.
She continued to weep. God, I felt like a right bastard. This was all my fault. I should have known my sister would be capable of something like this. Jordan took a deep shuddering breath “Your sister” she began.
“Is already in the dungeon. I know she orchestrated this along with Alpha Romero” I supplied dully “and she will be punished for it. I’m so sorry Jordan” I told her, feeling ashamed “I never thought she would go this far.”
“You couldn’t have known,” she said kindly.
That was Jordan. Always nice, even when she didn’t have to be. She was too perfect. So damn forgiving. Jaxon cleared his throat. “Alpha Blaze,” he said cordially “As nice as this little ah reunion is,” he said pensively glancing at me and blushing as Alex pointedly looked in the opposite direction “perhaps we should give some thought about getting back to your pack before nightfall?”
Right. He did have a point. It would take a couple of hours to get back. I glanced at Jordan who looked like she could barely stand. There was no way she could shift. Not in that state.
“Jordan you can climb on my back and I’ll carry you back” I suggested.
It made perfect sense. She could get some rest while I ran.
Lucifer vehemently agreed with that idea. Jaxon and Alex nodded, looking relieved. I guess they would have felt awkward with a naked Jordan on their back and to be honest I think Lucifer would have gouged their eyes out before he would have even considered letting them.
“Okay,” Jordan said meekly.
I stood up and offered her a hand. She got to her feet and I helped dust her off, my eyes narrowing as I took in some of the bruises and scrapes on her body, feeling a new flash of anger. I maintained my composure though. “Ready sweetheart?” I asked her softly.
She nodded, biting her lip. She looked exhausted with dark circles under her eyes. I just wanted to get her home, away from this horrid place and the memories of what had happened. Jaxon and Alex promptly shifted and waited patiently.
I took a few steps back and then shifted back into my large wolf form. I lay down on the ground, my head between my paws, and waited, Jordan tentatively shuffling towards me, before climbing slowly onto me, gripping my fur gently with her hands. Lucifer grinned, enjoying the feeling of her thighs squeezing us, as we stood up and began to run, careful of her on our back, conscious of our movements. Jaxon and Alex overtook us, leading the way and we were content to follow, Jordan’s body rocking back and forth on top, causing our body to tense and our c**k to twitch. It was heaven and hell all at once. We were becoming aroused feeling her move, smelling her scent, and all sorts of images entering our minds. Lucifer spoke and truer words had never been spoken.
It’s going to be a long bloody run at this rate. f**k.
