                    Alpha Jaxon POV
Ding Dong. The doorbell rang. Alex rushed to open the door. It had been a few days since his parent’s visit and he’d been a bit morose, despite our best efforts to cheer him up. He swung the door open as I came up behind him, looking a bit confused. “Jordan” he cried as she, heavily pregnant, waddled in and hugged him, before turning and doing the same to me “What are you doing here?”
Blaze stepped in and cordially shook both our hands. Jordan winked at me.
“We were just in the neighborhood,” she said smoothly “and thought we would come to visit.”
Hearing Jordan’s voice, my equally pregnant mother came barrelling out, my father slowly following behind her. She flung her arms awkwardly around Jordan. Their baby bumps touching each other and preventing them from hugging properly.” Jordan” she cried “How lovely to see you and your hunky mate,” she said as Blaze coughed, smirking at her.
My father shook hands with Blaze. Alex just looked bemused. Jordan smiled. “It’s nice to see you too Serena and James,” she said quietly “I’ve really missed you all” she admitted as I kissed her on the cheek.
“You must stay the night” my mother insisted.
“Oh, we couldn’t possibly impose” Blaze began to protest.
“We insist” my mother protested, glowering at him as Jordan tried not to giggle.
“We thank you for the offer and would be delighted to stay,” Jordan said smoothing my mother’s ruffled feathers.
I grinned. Everybody was here. This was perfect. I cleared my throat. “How about we all go into the kitchen,” I said with emphasis, mind-linking everyone in the pack to stay clear of the house and looking pointedly at my mother who winked ” and have a drink and something to eat. I just need to grab my phone from the room and I’ll be right back.”
Alex grinned and gestured for Jordan and Blaze to follow him. “So how is everything going” he asked her excitedly.
I saw Jordan open her mouth, her eyes sparkling but didn’t get a chance to hear her answer. My father followed along behind him, while my mother made little shooing motions with her hands, urging me to hurry. I pecked her on the cheek and ran upstairs. I only had limited time to put my plan into action.
It took me a little bit of time to get everything into motion before I scrambled downstairs, my face contorted into false panic, as I bolted into the kitchen, everybody straightening up, including my mother as they took in the expression on my face and the mussed up hair.
“What is it, what’s wrong?” cried Alex, getting to his feet.
I bit my lip. “It’s, it’s Clover” I choked out, “she’s missing out of her cage” I cried out.
“No, no, no, no” Alex cried, dashing upstairs, while the others got to their feet. I could hear him desperately searching the room upstairs, searching frantically for his bunny. I felt a small pang of guilt listening to him. Hopefully, he would forgive me for this.
He came back downstairs, a devastated look on his face. “She’s not upstairs,” he said miserably, a catch in his voice. “Well she can’t have gotten outside, all the doors are shut,” my mother said helpfully “and I know she was in her cage this morning because the omegas fed her.”
Alex brightened slightly. “Then she has to be in the house,” he said panicked, “we have to find her.”
“We’ll all look,” Jordan said gently, while my father and Blaze looked a bit indignant about having to go on a bunny hunt” I’m sure we’ll find her in no time.”
“Come on,” I said, “let’s start on this floor and work our way upstairs.”
“Good idea,” my mother said approvingly, beginning to pull the cushions off the couch in an attempt to help. Alex began to look through the corridors. Jordan tentatively began to look in the kitchen, while my father and Blaze scratched their heads looking slightly helpless.
“If I was a bunny where would I go” murmured my father, raising his eyes and staring at the ceiling as though an answer would magically come to him.
Blaze just looked at him and shook his head. “It’s probably somewhere comfortable and warm” he muttered “laughing its ass off at us.”
Jordan shot her mate a look full of daggers and he shut up instantly, looking remorseful. “Would you start looking already” she hissed “Or so help me god the only bed you’re going to see in the near future is the guest bedroom one” she threatened, making him swallow hard.
He immediately began to search, heading down towards the study, muttering under his breath as I fought the urge to laugh. Jordan had him wrapped around her little finger, I thought smugly and the man was completely whipped. Good on her.
My father merely turned in circles, throwing his hands up and looking completely clueless. He was no help whatsoever. Then again, it was likely he wouldn’t exactly know what to do if he found Clover either. Probably shout and scare the rabbit, I mused. As it was, I stood there, waiting for the inevitable. Any second now, I knew that Alex would come back and she would come hopping out from wherever she had hidden. It was just a matter of being patient.
Sure enough, Alex came out, his shoulders slumped. “She’s not that way,” he said gruffly, pointing with his hand “I checked thoroughly.” His eyes were a little shiny and I shifted on my feet a little uncomfortably.
I patted his shoulder. “I’m sure she’ll come out. Don’t lose hope so quickly” I advised him hastily.
He sighed. I saw something hopping out of the corner of my eye and grinned. I knew it would happen. Alex began to follow my eyes, frowning. “Is that Clover?” he asked, peering at her. Everybody huddled together as Alex gingerly made his way towards the rabbit. Clover peered up at him, her ears flat against her back, looking up at him trustingly.
Everyone looked bewildered now, except my mother and Jordan who were in on my plan. I had dressed Clover in a pretty ribbon, a small scroll attached to it, along with something else. Alex frowned and picked Clover up, holding her in his hands. I cleared my throat. He looked at me. “Did you do this?” he asked pointing at Clover “Why?” he asked, about to tug the scroll and ribbon off.
“Wait” I interrupted “I want to say something first.”
I took a deep breath as his hand fell back down, still clutching Clover to his chest.
“Alex” I began, moving forward and taking hold of his hand “ever since I met you, we’ve had this inescapable bond. You are one of the most kindest, loving men I have ever met. You are the other piece to me that I never even knew was missing. The other part of my soul. Without you, I would be lost, completely adrift, with nothing to hold onto or to tether me to this world. You are my lifeline, my anchor. A generous lover and human being that I have the pleasure of knowing and having in my life.”
Alex’s eyes were shining as he listened. Everybody listened, hands to their mouths but my focus was primarily on Alex. I continued, my breath cracking every so often, I was so damn nervous. “I know you come as a package deal and I want you to know I love your wolf just as much as I love you. I adore Crowley and his vibrant personality. His mischievousness and his protectiveness, his love and his fierceness. You both balance each other out. Hades loves the two of you with all his heart.”
I swear I heard Jordan sobbing behind me, but I dared not turn around to look. Another sound, more like the sound of clicking noises, sounded suspiciously like my mother was taking photos on her phone. Trust her to want to capture the moment while she can.
“Alex Jacobs,” I said to him as he gaped at me “I don’t care about your companies, your family name, and whether you are wealthy or not. I don’t care that you are a Beta. You could have been an omega or an ordinary human and I still would have loved you for you. There is nobody else in the world who is more suited for me to love and I would die protecting, than you.”
“I feel the same way” he whispered, “but Jaxon” he trailed off, looking uncertain “What” he stammered.
“I never thought I would be so lucky as to find my mate this early or this fast but the moon goddess works in mysterious ways and she blessed me with the likes of you” I concluded and then motioned towards Clover as Alex’s hands trembled ” you should unwrap the ribbon around Clover’s neck now.”
His hand shook as he tried to untie the ribbon with one hand. My mother stepped forward and took Clover, freeing up his other hand. He pulled off the circular thing from around the scroll and then quietly undid it as I went down on one knee, reading out the words on the scroll out loud as everyone gasped, Alex put a hand to his chest in shock.
“Alex Jacob, will you do me the honor of marrying me and becoming my husband?” he read slowly and then dropped the scroll to the ground, his mouth dropping open speechless. His hand moved up and he blinked, realizing that he was holding a ring. “Is this” he stammered.
“Will you marry me and make me the happiest man alive?” I asked, still on one knee and holding my breath.
God, I was terrified that he was going to say no.
“You did all this? Including the whole missing Clover thing, to ask me this?” he whispered, stunned.
I nodded my heart in my throat. A tear trailed down his cheek. Oh no. That was a bad sign. Hades whimpered in my head. What had we done to upset him? I stiffened.
“Yes,” he breathed and my heart skipped a beat. He reached out and dragged me up, planting a kiss on me as cheers loudly erupted around us, his hand gripping the back of my neck while my mother continued to placidly hold Clover, a wide grin on her face. He pulled back and I took the ring, placing it on his hand. It fits perfectly. I knew that it would. I reached into my pocket and pulled out a matching one, Alex immediately snatched it and put it on my hand.
“I thought you would never ask” Alex murmured, as we held hands and stared into each other’s eyes. “Congratulations” Jordan beamed, hugging us both “I loved the proposal Jaxon, it was really romantic and um, unique” she finished with a giggle.
“You knew?” Alex asked.
She nodded. My mother nodded. Blaze and my father shook their heads looking a bit disgruntled as the women giggled to themselves. My mother handed Alex back Clover and he hugged her tightly to his chest.
“Oh I can’t wait till the wedding” my mother squealed as we all clapped hands to our ears, wincing at the shrillness in her tone “I have the most incredible ideas, and I can have it ready in a month’s time before my baby is due” she cried and Alex leaned against me, laughter in his voice as he replied.
“The sooner the better. I want Jaxon to be made my husband as soon as possible” and we all winced as my mother shrieked again.
“You’re going to regret saying that,” I told him ruefully as my father offered his congratulations quietly and Blaze did the same.
He snorted. “I will never regret marrying you. We could be married by Elvis and I wouldn’t give two hoots so long as I got to marry you.”
“Oh no darling I have the perfect theme in mind,” my mother said excitedly, narrowing her eyes at him “How do you feel about a casual, family, low-key wedding?”
I was surprised, but to be honest it sounded perfect. Exactly what I wanted. I looked at Alex. “Perfect,” we said in unison.
