                    Jordan POV
I yawned, hearing the sound of our baby girl Josie crying in the crib, rolling over and waking up, sitting upright, and blinking the sleep from my eyes. Blaze sat up as well, his hair all mussed, his own eyes blearily looking at me. He gave me a wink and a suggestive smile that had my heart racing. “I’ve got this, why don’t you have a shower and go get some breakfast?” he murmured.
“Are you sure?” I asked doubtfully.
“Of course,” he said pretending to be offended “I am her father after all, I think I can handle changing her and giving her a bottle if she wants it. She’s over one year old, it’s not like she’s a newborn” he teased.
I laughed and shrugged. Who was I to complain if he wanted to get sweet Josie up? I walked into the bathroom as Blaze went into the adjoining room, to go get our little princess. I turned the shower on and took my nightgown and panties off, stepping underneath the warm water gratefully, the water relaxing and soothing.
Blaze didn’t know it yet, but he had just given me the perfect opportunity to do something I’d been meaning to do for the last few days. I sighed, feeling slightly nauseous, and leaned my head against the tiles, droplets of water falling down from my hair and trailing down my body as I fought back the bile in my throat. I could have stayed under there forever, but eventually, I forced myself to step out, drying myself off with a towel. With trembling hands I opened the small drawer to the vanity and withdrew what I needed, doing it quickly and looking at it in fascination. It was as I’d suspected. I carefully placed the item in the drawer, keeping it hidden, and made my way into the bedroom, grabbing some clothes and heading downstairs to the kitchen.
I frowned. I had expected Blaze and Josie to be downstairs already but they were still upstairs apparently. I sighed and sat down, an omega grabbing me some pastries and a cup of juice. I nibbled on a muffin, tentatively, sipping away at the juice and feeling myself beginning to wake up and feel more like a normal human being and less like a zombie or robot. I stretched and glanced out the window. It was a glorious day, the sun was shining, the sky was a gorgeous clear blue and I could hear the sounds of the birds chirping happily away in the distance. It would be a good day to take Josie for a walk or maybe even to the park I mused.
Thomas came and sat down, grabbing a cup of coffee and practically inhaling it. “Morning” he mumbled, looking sleepy.
I raised an eyebrow “Were you up all night?” I queried, seeing the dark circles under his eyes.
“Not in the work sense” he coughed “Let’s just say I met a girl and leave it there,” he said blushing profusely as I fought the urge to tease him about it.
I laughed. “What happened to waiting for your mate?”
“I don’t think that’s going to happen” he mumbled “So why shouldn’t I have fun while I can?”
I shrugged “It’s really not my business,” I told him lightly and then flicked a piece of muffin at him as he protested “But you do look like hell. She must have really been a good lay” I said bluntly.
The urge to tease him had taken over after all. Sue me.
He blushed even redder to my satisfaction.
“Where’s Blaze” he stammered, looking around with desperation as I smirked.
I shrugged. He scowled. I grinned. I was enjoying teasing him.
“Did I hear someone say my name?” Blaze said smoothly, coming in, his arms holding Josie, her face looking over his shoulder, his hair damp from being washed, his hand clutching a bouquet of flowers. He came over and kissed me, Josie wriggling in his arms, her red hair bright against the blackness of his shirt, before handing the flowers to me. I was touched. My eyes met his, my lips curving into a smile. “How did you manage this?” I asked astonished.
“I have my ways,” he said breezily, giving me a wink as I fought back tears. It was such a simple gesture but it meant the world to me.
Josie giggled. Thomas smiled. To my shock, Blaze moved backward, still clutching Josie, and then carefully placed her down, so that she had to turn to face me. Slowly, she began to walk towards me. She was so cute and so adorable. Blaze had dressed her in a little skirt and t-shirt, with a bow in her hair and little socks and Mary Jane shoes. It took me a minute to realize there was writing on the shirt. It was a new one, I hadn’t seen before.
Mummy
Will you marry Daddy?
I sucked in a breath. Tears came to my eyes. Was this what I thought it was? Josie reached my knees and held her arms up, wanting to be picked up. I picked her up, my eyes going to Blaze as he knelt in front of both of us, fishing out a small box from his pant pocket and opening it with a flourish. Oh my god, it was.
“Oh Blaze” I whispered, staring at the gorgeous amethyst and white gold ring as he cleared his throat.
“Jordan, I have loved you since I first met you. I adore you. Your kind, you’re loving, you’re smart, compassionate, and a wonderful mother. Lucifer loves you with all his heart. Neither of us can picture life without you, or without Josie in it. I know that I’ve taken my time asking this, but I never wanted you to feel as though I was asking this just because of Josie. I want you to know, I’m asking you this because you are my whole world Jordan, and because you are everything to me. Would you do me the honor of becoming my wife?”
Tears trailed down my cheeks. “Yes, yes, yes” I shrieked, Josie covering her ears with her little hands “Oh my god Blaze.” He took the ring out of the box and slowly slid it onto my trembling finger. I admired it in the light, Josie looking at it carefully. She touched it with her hand looking curious. I got up, holding Josie, and kissed him, fiercely. Oh, how I had longed for this moment. My heart was bursting with joy. Thomas was grinning widely and looking at both of us with envy. “I can’t believe you did all this” I whispered awestruck. It was such a perfect proposal.
Blaze smirked. “Josie helped” he pointed out “I was fairly certain you wouldn’t be able to bring yourself to say no to her” he added smugly.
I laughed and shook my head. He had a point there.
His eyes lit up. “Look on the bright side,” he said excitedly “Now you can wear any dress you want. You don’t have to go looking for maternity dresses. Whatever your heart desires you may have,” he said excitedly.
I laughed, Blaze hastily taking Josie from me, as I doubled over, tears spurting out of my eyes. He looked at me, wondering why I was crying with laughter. I saw Thomas subtly make his way out of the kitchen. “Oh Blaze” I wheezed” You have no idea” I giggled.
He looked confused. I sighed, and then moved closer, leaning over to murmur in his ear.
“I’m afraid that you’re a little too late. Looks like I’m going to need a maternity wedding dress after all” I breathed into his
ear.
Silence. Recognition dawned on his face. A wide smile split his lips. “You’re pregnant” he shouted, startling poor Josie who glared at him and then began to cry, making him cuddle her close.
I nodded. He grabbed me and twirled me around with one arm, practically vibrating with happiness.
He kissed me hard “Goddamn I love you, woman,” he told me as he stopped twirling me and put me gently on the floor” You have no idea how happy you’ve made me” he whispered.
“The same goes for me” I breathed, my happiness overflowing.
“I will love you forever and ever” he vowed.
“I will love you to the end of time” I swore and as we hugged and celebrated, we knew we’d stick to our vows. We married with everyone close to us attending, including Jaxon and Alex of course, Grant and his partner Juliet, with Jadette, their daughter and who had part of my name, their children. Blaze and I had two sons, and Josie, well she had her own rather interesting story to be told as she grew older, one that was filled with sorrow, love, laughter, joy, tears, and grief. My story wasn’t over, it was just beginning and I had discovered my own prince charming and he had gotten what he liked to refer to as his curvy Cinderella. Life can be a fairytale, if you open your heart and follow your dreams, you’ll find your own happy ending. All you need is an open heart and a willingness to be kind, always. I might not have had a happy beginning, but love prevailed in the end, and that’s all that mattered.
