Third Person POV
She sobbed, looking pitiful and woebegone, tears trailing down her cheeks, surrounded by the other rogues who avoided her gaze and looked away, ashamed of themselves as they kept themselves from offering her any assistance. It was well known amongst the large group that she had become his plaything, so to speak, the Alpha using her for his sick pleasure, her screams bloodcurdling as he whipped and beat her, her pleads for mercy unanswered every night before she was unceremoniously shoved back into the basement with the rest of them.
He stood at the foot of the stairs, his size impressive, his eyes beginning to get a tinge of red around the rims as he turned into an official rogue, with no pack to call home or lead. He narrowed his eyes, ignoring the poor girl, and then turned and stomped away, the girl breathing a sigh in relief that he didn’t want anything further from her. Alpha Drake went outside, breathing in the fresh air, a sick grin on his face. His body felt refreshed and rejuvenated and thinking back to the screams the innocent rogue girl had let out made him smile even wider. He was becoming less humane, his wolf desperate to go back to his pack and find Josie, the mate that was meant to be his.
Rohan had to die, he thought maliciously. There was no choice. He felt no remorse for the plan of killing his old friend. Rohan had taken something that did not belong to him and in the process, he had weakened Drake. It was unacceptable. Drake seethed, staring off into the distance. He had more rogues now in his solitary pack. He had gathered them, taking care not to get caught by other shifters as he led them back to the farmhouse and offered them the choice, join him and help him enact his revenge, or die by his hand. To no one’s surprise, most rogues chose the latter. Smart decision he thought smirking.
Gabriel, one of the initial rogues that had joined him from the start, came sidling out, looking apprehensive, his hair stringy and covering his face, his eyes wide and fearful. Drake turned to face him, a sneer on his face.
“What is it now?” he asked impatiently.
Gabriel ducked his head. “Some of the rogues are becoming impatient” he stammered as Drake’s eyes glowed even darker “they feel like this is taking too long and they are becoming restless” he added, his voice fading to a whisper.
“Do they wish to die?” Drake asked bluntly.
Gabriel slowly shook his head, still looking fearful as he bit his lip. He had not wanted to approach the Alpha at all, but things were coming to a head. The rogues wanted to be allowed to hunt, to find food, and to stretch their legs and run in their wolf form. They could not stay cooped up and confined to one room, not without beginning to turn on one another.
Drake scowled. “Are you the leader?” he asked in a dangerously quiet voice.
Gabriel hesitated. Drake’s grin grew wide and vicious. Gabriel swallowed hard. “Tell your men and women, each and every one of them,” he said very slowly, leaning forward and fixing his eyes on Gabriel who paled “that in two days’ time, we leave for my old pack and seek to overtake it. Any who try to oppose this plan or disagree with it, shall personally come and see me” he hissed as Gabriel flinched from the venom in his voice.
“Two days” Gabriel murmured, sounding relieved.
“Two days” snarled Alpha Drake, rolling his eyes “do you think that they can hold onto what little sense they have left for that long?” he said derisively.
“Yes sir” Gabriel said meekly.
Gabriel turned to leave but Alpha Drake’s arm shot out and grabbed him, halting him in his tracks and he trembled, feeling the Alpha’s wrath as he glared at him. “I should kill you for even approaching me with this nonsense” he said in a chilling voice, that had Gabriel’s hair on the back of his neck standing on end “but I need all the men I can get. However” he paused and Gabriel cringed as Alpha Drake eyed him, a sardonic gleam in his eyes “I can’t just let you go back to the other rogues unharmed. What would that say about me as your leader?”
Gabriel’s eyes widened “Alpha Drake” he began in a pleading voice, sensing what was coming and beginning to panic.
He had been stupid to think that Alpha Drake would allow this to go unchallenged. The Alpha had taken this as an insult and Gabriel was about to pay a heavy price for it.
Claws grew from Alpha Drake’s fingers, long, sharp, shiny ones that gleamed in the sunlight. Gabriel’s eyes widened as Alpha Drake deliberately held one of his hands up. “What are you…” he trailed off with a scream as the Alpha cut off two of his fingers with the claws, leaving him bleeding, the fingers dropping carelessly to the ground as he screamed in pain. “This is a reminder of who is in charge” Alpha Drake spat out, letting go of the man’s hand as he clutched at the bloody stumps of his fingers, howling loudly “and the next time you or anyone else thinks they can question me or make a statement about my leadership, the consequences will be far worse. Do you understand me?” he breathed, Gabriel blanching and nodding frantically, his eyes shimmering with tears.
The Alpha continued to stare at his minion, before waving a dismissive hand at Gabriel who was reluctant to move, blood still trickling from the wound. Gabriel felt sick, his stomach churning as he stared at where his fingers used to be. “Prepare the rest of the rogues and inform them that we move out in two days” he growled “Send Claudia to my room again. I find that I suddenly have an appetite to take her again,” he said smirking as Gabriel nodded tiredly, feeling sorry for the girl, but not apologetic enough to risk being injured any more than he already was. “Oh and Gabriel, is it?” Alpha Drake’s voice was soft but cold as the man turned his head, already in the process of heading back into the farmhouse.
“Yes Alpha,” Gabriel whispered, wanting nothing more than to get away from the Alpha and lick his wounds.
“Next time I suggest you tell them to approach me themselves instead of being the cowardly fools they are. Why be punished in their stead when it should be them that is punished?”
Gabriel said nothing, scurrying into the house, clutching his injured hand. Alpha Drake rolled his eyes and turned back, facing towards the forest and looking up towards the sky. He felt excitement building inside of him. Two more days and he would be heading back to the pack he used to call home. Two more days he would clap eyes on Josie and that betraying b***h Claudia. Two more days and he might even lay eyes on his bastard sister Rose. It was all coming to a head he thought. Claudia and Rose had to die, he refused to share DNA with a bastard, but Josie would be his, and he would force her to bear his mark, tying them both together forever. If Rohan had marked her…the thought made his mood turn black. If Rohan had marked Josie, well it was no matter. The mark would disappear with his death, he concluded smugly.
He turned and began to head back into the large farmhouse, whistling underneath his breath. Thoughts of Josie flooded his mind, his wolf growling at the thought of being near her again, pawing at his mind. Drake grinned to himself. Josie would be surprised to see him again.
He knew that Alpha Blaze was still looking for him but he was in for a shock if he thought that Drake was going to give up on having his mate and taking back his pack. He began to head up the stairs, listening to the sound of the girl’s soft sobbing coming from his bedroom.
It brought a smile to his face. She resembled Josie so much that he was able to pretend, for a little while, that it was her. He looked forward to a few days time, when he wasn’t forced to pretend anymore and he had the real thing in front of him and at his complete mercy.
Thoughts of taking Josie, hearing the sounds of her screams and hearing her cries as he took her, filled him with anticipation and he slammed the bedroom door open, the poor rogue girl’s eyes widening and flooding with tears as he slowly began to close it, the lock turning with a decisive click and preventing her from getting away from the hellish nightmare she was about to endure at his hands.
