                    Rohan POV
I adjusted my tie, my nervousness increasing as I waited, my eyes continually sweeping the crowd that remained seated, expectant looks on everyone’s faces. The tension in the air grew but the atmosphere was cheerful. The minister stood at the ready, beaming widely and I felt my chest tighten. This was it, this was the moment of truth. Everything that I had been hoping for, was all coming down to this moment. I shuffled awkwardly on my feet, feeling sweat bead on my brow and I ran a hand through my hair, smoothing it back.
The archway I stood beneath had been prettily decorated with purple roses, one of Josie’s favorites. The delicate aroma was sweet and delicate, reminding me of her. The crowd sat on white chairs with purple sashes, and the groomsmen, close pack members, and friends of mine, James, Henry, and Sam, stood there, all clad in black suits with purple ties. It felt like my throat was constricting. Henry tapped me on the shoulder. He was one of our warriors and we had gotten friendly over the last few weeks as we trained together. He subtly handed me a small flask and I took a grateful swig, feeling the bourbon trickle down my throat. “For the nerves” he whispered and I nodded handing the flask back, somehow not surprised that he had it on him, as he placed it carefully back in his jacket pocket.
I glanced at my watch. Time seemed to be passing incredibly slowly. Sam chuckled behind me, amused by my constant pacing as I struggled to remain still. “Calm your horses” he admonished as I turned and glowered at him “she’ll be here. Don’t forget she’s likely to move slower, what with being pregnant and all. Just give her time to get ready. Besides, aren’t women notoriously late? Even with a wedding?”
I had no idea. But all of the groomsmen were nodding now in agreement with Sam as though he made perfect sense.
The crowd chatted amiably with each other. Minister Joe was calm, a placid expression on his wizened face. “Henry hand me that flask again” I rasped and he willingly gave it to me as I took another swig, feeling the need for some liquid courage. He put it away hastily, the other groomsmen shaking their heads at him.
“What,” he said innocently “I brought it for Alpha Rohan’s sake” he protested.
A lie, but we all played along with him as he grinned, chuckling to ourselves.
“May I offer my congratulations ahead of time Alpha Rohan” Minister Joe said, coming up to us and offering his hand.
“Thank you but we may be catching our chickens before they hatch,” I said a little glumly, as there was still no sign of Josie to be seen.
The minister laughed, his eyes twinkling. “I do not doubt that your mate will come. The way you two look at each other, why there is such love between you both” he sighed “it warms my heart to see two people so in in love with each other. You’re so in tune, I know that you’ll spend the rest of your lives making each other happy” he assured me.
I grinned despite myself. My love for Josie knew no limits. The minister continued, his tone warm and filled with kindness “I also heard about your good news. Twins” he exclaimed “You’re both going to have your hands full” he said with a light laugh, shaking his head.
“We will, but I can’t wait,” I told him sincerely “Josie is amazing and for her to give me such a blessing is a miracle unto itself.”
The minister smiled “A beautiful way to put it” he murmured approvingly.
“Such a poet” joked Sam.
I turned and glared at him. Henry snorted and James just looked nonchalant. I sighed and tried to remember why I had picked these men to be my groomsmen. Minister Joe wandered back over to his position, eyeing the long aisle that my wife, or rather soon-to-be wife would be walking down. I could feel anticipation flooding through my veins. My wolf was just as eager.
I bet our mate looks absolutely stunning. We are going to make her ours forever. Nobody will ever touch her again, except for us he said possessively.
She will take our last name and have our pups. She will be the mother of our children and the love of our lives. Nobody is ever going to compare to our mate.
She is one in a million and we will never forget that for as long as we live. Not to mention there’s the wedding night to look forward to my wolf growled and I could have rolled my eyes with his blatant suggestions that began to fill my mind. Even now, my wolf was thinking with his blasted c**k. The mutt had no shame. He was unapologetic about it. Can I help it if I’m wildly attracted to our mate? She’s bloody gorgeous he snarled she’s irresistible damnit. Why, just thinking about her right now is making me want to grab her and ravish her!
Well, you’re out of luck mate. Best control yourself.
My wolf groaned but went quiet out of churlishness. He didn’t understand the necessity of a wedding as our mate had already been marked by us, twice if we wanted to think about it. To him, that was as good as getting married but this was important to me and to Josie. He grumbled about it being a human tradition but shut up quickly when I remarked on marking a mate as being more of a wolf tradition. The music began to play and I turned, the groomsmen getting into a line, all of us turning our heads to look towards the pack house, our eyes raised as we awaited the bride.
The flower girl came waltzing out, looking adorable as she flung flower petals around carelessly from her little basket, her mother grabbed her at the end of the aisle as the little girl waved cheerfully.
