She looked like a goddess. He slowly clambered off her and then offered her a hand, helping her to sit up. She smoothed her hair and her clothes, looking hurriedly towards the boys and then relaxing as she saw they were still playing. Rohan’s mouth curved into a smile as he looked over at them both. He was protective of the boys and loved them fiercely. He was also an indulgent father and tended to spoil them rotten. He was an excellent father thought Josie gratefully and a fantastic husband. She was extremely blessed and she thought about that every day and never took it for granted. “They grow up so fast,” Rohan said a little mournfully “don’t they? At this rate, they’ll be teenagers before we know it.” Josie giggled “Rohan they’re three years old, they’re hardly going to be eighteen in a few days. Are you telling me you’re already feeling like they’re adults?”
He looked sheepish “it’s just that they’re already toilet trained, they’re becoming independent, they like to play but they don’t need me as much” he complained. “They aren’t babies anymore,” he said mournfully.
“Honey, they can’t stay babies forever.”
“I know” Rohan sighed “but they were cute weren’t they? So adorable and so helpless. I guess I miss giving bottles and changing diapers, as weird as that sounds. I like this part too,” he said hastily “they love spending time with me and playing, but it’s not the same” he said a little forlorn.
Josie just shook her head at him. He laughed “I’m being a miser aren’t I?”
“A little bit” she allowed with a small smile.
She had a secret that she needed to tell him and she had a feeling it was going to perk him right up. But she wanted to tell him along with the boys. She could feel the small gift she had for him in her pocket and she smiled mysteriously as Rohan looked at her a little puzzled. The boys came running over squealing at the top of their lungs, causing their parents to put their hands over their ears and laugh. “Alright, alright” Rohan joked “what do you want?”
“Can we have icecream?” Blaze asked eagerly.
Rohan opened his mouth to refuse but Josie cut in “actually I have something to tell everyone and ice cream sounds like the perfect way to celebrate afterwards.”
The boys looked excited. Rohan looked confused. Josie grinned.
“Okay” Rohan said slowly as the boys fell to the ground and sat cross legged staring at their mother expectantly “this is the first I’m hearing of it. What’s the surprise?” he asked.
“Well” Josie said beaming “it looks like I’m going to be needing a little help for the next four months or so boys but at the end the reward is going to be worth it.”
Bewilderment as Rohan and the boys shot each other a glance. Josie slowly withdrew something from her pocket and handed it to her husband with a smile “I think that maybe you’ll have somebody who needs your help again with bottles and diapers” she teased as her husband looked down at the pregnancy test in shock.
“Is…is…this?” he spluttered, brandishing the test in his hand with excitement while the boys continued to look confused.
“It is” Josie confirmed as her husband whooped out loud “we’re pregnant. Boy’s your going to have a sibling. A brother or sister” she told them and their faces lit up.
“Or twins” Rohan said and Josie groaned.
“I hope not as much as I love you two” she told the twins with a laugh “I think two sets of you might be a little too much for mummy to handle.”
“We’ll help you mummy” Jordan said seriously.
