                    Alpha Blaze POV
I frowned, my fingers flying across the keyboard, a little disgruntled to find that in my absence, the pack had been running smoothly and my companies had continued to increase their profits, all communication effectively continued and carried on through Thomas who was my second in command and Beta. I sighed. I looked out the window, smiling as I saw the children running past, kicking a soccer ball, whooping at the tops of their lungs as their parents watched indulgently from the sidelines. Thomas leaned back in the chair and gave a huge yawn.
“The ball” I muttered, puzzled by my obsession with it. Why was I so focused on it?
“That was a while ago. Oh but, I did arrange for your luggage to be brought back” Thomas said, as though just remembering “It’s in your room.”
I nodded absently. I finished my report and then shut the laptop down with a heavy sigh. “So I said nothing to you about the ball?” I asked again.
Thomas shook his head. “Not a thing, not that you really got the chance to” he pointed out “You were injured before I could really ask you anything about it.”
Damn. “I’ve since increased patrol and recruited a few more warriors. There was a blind spot in our security and it’s since been dealt with and security tightened. We shouldn’t be taken by surprise by rogues again” he exhaled “We were lucky we didn’t lose anybody during the fight.”
Yeah, lucky, I thought with a grimace. I had come close to death, and several had been majorly injured but that was considered lucky. I sighed.
“How is training going? Are we rotating the warriors? Have we come to a decision in regards to our Gamma yet?” I asked, rubbing my forehead tiredly.
Thomas looked slightly guilty. “For the moment we have two head warriors who are rotating on different rosters to train up the other warriors. The decision for who was going to be made into a Gamma has been put on hold, what with you being in a coma and what not” he flushed “It just wasn’t considered a high priority and I assumed, correctly I presume, that you would want some sort of say on who it was going to be, rather than me making the decision as an individual” Thomas explained gruffly.
I gave him points for knowing me. I arched a brow. “You assumed correctly,” I said tightly “That’s something we’ll visit at a later date. Now in regards to payroll,” I said, studying the printouts of the payslips and getting Thomas to explain any discrepancies I had noticed in regard to overtime and whatnot. Hours later and we were both exhausted.
“I don’t know about you, but I’m beat,” Thomas said, rubbing his eyes.
I smirked. “What no beauty to grace your bed tonight? No date out on the town?” I asked with interest.
He gave a long-suffering sigh. “Alas, tis true. There be no sleeping beauty to line my bed tonight. It is a cold and lonely night for me, without the warmth of a maiden to warm me up” he said regretfully.
I threw a cushion at him and he ducked just in time to avoid it. He laughed. “You’re incorrigible,” I told him wryly.
“Ah, but the women love it” he quipped.
“You know one of these days, that c**k of yours is going to end up severed from your body by a jealous ex-girlfriend,” I told him grimly.
“Don’t even joke about something like that” he said shuddering, a hand to his heart, his eyes widening with panic.
I rolled my eyes. He winked at me. “Well unless you need me for anything else, I’m off to sleep” he muttered, waving at me and heading out the door.
“Me too” I muttered. I got up, swaying slightly on my feet, and walked slowly up the stairs and toward my bedroom. God, I was tired. Maybe I should have rested a bit better after getting out of the hospital. Then again, it could be the lack of proper food I thought sourly. Jello and broth just didn’t cut it. My poor stomach felt like it was starving. I was so hungry I was fantasizing about shifting and hunting food down. Something told me that the doctor would not appreciate it.
I opened the bedroom door and turned the light switch on. I shut the door and headed into my massive bathroom, turning the shower on and hopping into it. I let the water cascade down my back, closing my eyes and feeling relaxed. I yawned, tiredness beginning to creep in on me. Part of me wanted to stay in the shower forever but I forced my limbs to move, turning the water off and grabbing a towel to wrap around myself.
I padded back into the room, drying myself off and digging into my dresser for a pair of old comfortable sweatpants. I put them on and was about to climb into bed when I noticed the suitcase stacked neatly in the corner of my room. I hesitated but felt drawn to it. I could leave it until the next day, I mused, but my fingers were itching to go through my clothes. Maybe there would be a clue about that day? Something that would trigger a memory? Or maybe it would be full of old and smelly clothes that hadn’t been washed I thought with a spurt of negativity and despondency.
There’s only one way to find out you dumbhead Lucifer huffed why are you hesitating?
I’m not hesitating. I’m just wondering if it’s even worth opening it or if I should just wait until tomorrow morning.
Open it now. It will only take a few minutes you imbecile. You can spare a few minutes, can’t you? God, it’s not like you’ve got some chick waiting for you.
Ouch, way to dig the knife in Lucifer. You don’t hold any punches, do you?
I just feel that there’s something important inside that suitcase. Trust me. I have a feeling. My instincts are screaming for you to open it. Do it already he growled impatiently.
Fine, but I’m blaming you if we don’t find anything I snarled back at him.
I reached for the suitcase and put it on the bed, zipping it open. A pile of clothes tumbled out. I swept them to the side impatiently and then saw them. A pair of white heels with sparkles on them, just like the ones I had seen in my mind. The exact same ones. My hands picked them up, while my eyes examined them. A memory flashed into my mind of myself placing the shoes in the suitcase, my hands carefully zipping the suitcase up. Why had I done that? Who owned these shoes?
I swept the rest of the clothes aside, disappointed when I didn’t find anything else. I placed my hands on either side of the suitcase and bit the inside of my lip before I noticed the small pocket in the front. I unzipped it, half expecting not to find anything. I slowly withdrew some tissue paper. I unfurled it carefully, revealing a gold nautilus shell and chain. It was beautiful. I touched it and gasped as another memory came to the surface.
My body, on top of my mate, her gorgeous long brown hair splayed across the pillows, her nails clawing into my back as I thrust inside of her, her small cries spurring me on. She had her legs wrapped tightly around my waist, her head flung back in pleasure, her eyes closed, and her body wet with desire. She was so curvaceous, with wide hips and large breasts, perfectly formed, soft, supple, smooth all over. I loved touching her. She was perfection. A goddess in her own right. I couldn’t stop looking at her, enjoying the way her walls clenched tightly around my c**k as she began to orgasm. My body tingled all over, heat spreading throughout my body.
I blinked. Images continued to flood into my mind. Lucifer began to go berserk as he shared in those images, his memory coming back as well. How could I have forgotten my mate? I had taken her virginity and then left her, assuming I would be back, only to find she was gone. The irony wasn’t lost on me. The fact I’d been forced to flee back to my own pack to save it from rogues had only resulted in more time being wasted. I had to find this girl. I had to find my mate. The other part of me.
She probably hated me, I thought remorsefully. She probably thought I abandoned her. When the weeks went past she probably figured that made it a surety. Guilt pricked my conscience. What was she going to think when I turned up at her door, begging for forgiveness? Would she believe me? Would she show the compassion I was certain she was capable of? I swore under my breath. f**k. My body was beginning to get aroused just thinking about being with my mate once more, plundering her body, feeling her supple skin beneath my hands, tasting her sweet lips. I ran a hand through my hair, feeling a sense of haste. I had spent enough time without my mate, I didn’t want to waste another goddamn minute, I decided.
I repacked the suitcase with fresh clothes and carefully packed the shell necklace and shoes. Just like Cinderella, I thought amused, the fairytale coming to mind. Then I dragged the suitcase to the front door and mind-linked Thomas to come out. He did, looking grumpy and half-dressed, his hair mussed. I had no sympathy for him. He’d get over it I thought nonchalantly. Eventually.
“You’re in charge until I get back” I instructed, wheeling the suitcase out of the pack house, towards my car as Thomas followed looking confused, scratching at his head.
“Wait, why?” he asked, “What’s the rush?” he scowled, glowering at me.
“I got my memory back. I found my mate Thomas” I almost shouted “The night of the ball, I was with my mate and I had to leave her to come here.” Did he not understand the urgency of my situation? I felt sick at what I had done.
“Oh s**t,” he said, his eyes lighting up “Man, that sucks. She must think…” he trailed off, an awful dawning look on his face.
“Yeah,” I supplied harshly “I’m going to my cousin’s house. My aunt held the ball, so she must know who my mate is. I’m going to track her down” I said, putting the suitcase into the boot of the car. It was the only lead I had, but god knows it should be enough. Otherwise, I was going to have to resort to more nefarious means to find out her identity.
I slammed the boot down and opened the driver’s side. “I’m not coming back until I have my mate” I warned him and he nodded, his jaw tightening as he looked at me. Envy shone in his eyes.
“Do what you have to do man. Find her. She’s the future Luna. I only hope it’s not too late” he said regretfully.
“Me too” I muttered, hopping into the car and starting the engine. I began to drive, speeding towards the Blood Moon Pack, anticipation running through my veins. Soon, I would see my mate once again and this time I would never make the mistake of letting her out of my sight. Hold on my princess, I thought as I sped through the night, I’m coming and I’m never going to let you go ever again. I promise.
