                    Jordan POV
Jaxon and Alex held onto my hands steadying me as I took in the man in the kitchen, memories flooding back to me, my body swaying. I hadn’t expected to see him here. I had merely come wanting to ask Luna Mary about the man who’d meant to be staying in the room and go from there, but he was here. My mate. I could barely breathe. He smelt so good. My mouth watered, even as I began to feel lightheaded. He was angry, his eyes flashing dark black as he snarled at Jaxon and Alex to let go of me, his tone one of possessiveness.
“You’re scaring her” Jaxon hissed, and the man blinked, taken aback at being spoken to in that tone of voice.
“Take a chill pill” Alex snarled.
“I um, don’t feel so good” I breathed out, feeling like I was about to pass out. I was so nervous that my stomach was churning and I felt nauseous as hell. My hands were trembling and my body was shaking.
Jaxon immediately steered me into a chair, while the man looked at me apologetically. God he was handsome I thought dazedly, my fingers itching to run themselves through his slightly mussed-up hair. The entire time my mate never took his eyes off of me.
“Take some deep breaths, babe,” Jaxon said smoothly as Luna Mary eyed me anxiously “It’s okay, just breathe. The mean man is going to calm the f*****g farm” he added, shooting my mate a look full of daggers, while Alex rubbed soothing circles on my back “so that we can talk like adults.”
Grant slid a glass of water in front of me. I shot him a grateful glance and slowly sipped at it, beginning to feel slightly better. The nausea slowly receded. Thank god. The last thing I needed was to vomit all over the floor. How humiliating would that have been?
“I’m sorry” Luna Mary apologized “I should have warned you that Blaze was here” she explained. “Blaze” I murmured and my mate looked pleased, albeit a bit concerned as he stood there hesitantly.
Jaxon let go of my hand and nodded to Alex, both of them cautiously backing away.
“You can touch her, it will help calm her,” he told Blaze “but any funny business and I’ll kick your ass to kingdom come” he warned. His tone meant he meant business. Alex gave a tight nod beside him.
Blaze looked at him sceptically and I fought back my giggles. Judging by the muscles Blaze was by far the superior one but I wasn’t about to burst Jaxon’s bubble. Slowly, tentatively Blaze approached and reached for my hand. I let him grab it and inhaled sharply as tingles ran through my hand and up my arm. Immediately my body began to relax.
He felt it too, his eyes widening. “What’s your name?” he whispered eying me longingly.
“Jordan,” I said hoarsely.
“Jordan” he breathed “Such a beautiful name for a beautiful girl,” he said, with utter sincerity.
I practically glowed at his compliments. Every reservation I had, every doubt was fast erasing itself from my memory. Jaxon and Alex were still eying him warily and Grant was looking at me with a brooding expression on his face. Luna Mary looked excited and Alpha John looked uncomfortable. However, Aunt Mary had a death grip on his arm and wasn’t about to let him leave anytime soon. She was too busy watching everything unfold with a dreamy look on her face, clearly enjoying the show.
Suddenly I remembered and fury shot through me. I yanked my arm away, ignoring the look of hurt he shot me.
“You left me alone in the hotel room that night” I accused him, my voice dripping with disgust “I thought that meant you didn’t want to be with me” I added as his eyes widened in disbelief and a look of horror crossed his face.
“No, I would never abandon my mate,” he said hastily.
“Then why did you leave me in the room? Especially after…” I trailed off tearfully, Jaxon and Alex stiffening while Grant let out a low furious growl in the background. Had I gotten everything wrong? Was there a plausible explanation for what he had done?
He had the decency to look ashamed of himself. “Jordan, sweetheart,” he said thickly “I had no intentions of abandoning you. I thought you were going to be asleep for a few hours. I took a business call and then swung past the ballroom to see my Aunt and Uncle” he explained wretchedly “by the time I got back to the room you were already gone. I tried to go after you,” he told me, his eyes fixed on mine.
“Then why didn’t you find me? It’s been weeks?” I snapped a little irritated.
“I had to go back to my pack that same night. We were being attacked by rogues” he paused and sighed, “I misjudged an attack and took a claw to the brain. I’ve been in a coma the last few weeks and only just got some of my memory back. I’m sorry. I know that seems like an excuse, but it is the truth” he said firmly, his eyes beseeching me to believe him “come hell or high water, I was going to come back to you.”
I stared at him speechlessly. His jaw ticked. Suddenly his eyes cleared and he went storming out. I watched confused. Where was he going? Jaxon and Alex looked peeved. Aunt Luna subtly tugged at Alpha John, dragging him away. I’d never seen a man look so relieved. She shot a glower at Grant who shook his head, folded his arms, and steadfastly refused to move. Was Blaze leaving me again? After all that he had just said and declared to me?
Footsteps sounded and he came back in, holding something behind his back. “This is what triggered my memory of you,” he said quietly, bringing his hands forward.
I gave a gasp. He was holding my shoes that I’d worn the night of the ball. They were in perfect condition. I had assumed they would have been thrown away by housekeeping, but he’d been keeping hold of them this entire time. He gently placed them on the ground, next to my feet.
“It reminded me of the fairytale Cinderella” he murmured, lifting one of my feet and pressing it against the back of one of the shoes as I let out a nervous giggle.
“See, a perfect match, to my perfect princess” he declared, his voice husky.
He rifled in his pocket and produced something gold and gleaming. He held it up to the light and I put a hand to my mouth. I hadn’t even realized that the necklace had been missing. He undid the clasp and put it around my neck, the nautilus shell nestling snugly between my breasts.
“Thank you” I whispered, my voice shaking with emotion “You have no idea how much this necklace means to me.” I clasped it in my hand, tears coming to the corners of my eyes. I couldn’t believe he’d found it and thought to keep it. He took my hand. “That night was one of the most special nights of my life. I don’t know what brought you to that room, whether it was fate, whether you drank too much and passed out in there, but it meant that we found each other, and I can’t be unhappy about that.”
His eyes twinkled. I stared into them fascinated.
Jaxon cleared his throat and looked at me pointedly. “That is all very well,” he said a bit stiffly “but what exactly do you intend to do now? Jordan has no wolf, are you seriously telling me that doesn’t matter to you, an Alpha?” His tone was grating.
I cringed. Blaze narrowed his eyes at Jaxon, insulted by the question. “Just because she has no wolf, does not mean she isn’t a valued member of the pack. I am strong enough for the both of us” he growled, puffing out his chest with pride.
Jaxon wasn’t finished yet. “What will her role be Alpha Blaze?” he asked with his lips pursed “As a Luna or as a mistress?” he mocked.
“My god, how can you even ask such a question” Blaze roared, insulted now “As a Luna of course. I would never degrade my mate in such a manner.”
Alex cleared his throat. Wow, they were really testing my mate out. Grant was sulking in the background. “What about her looks,” he said shooting me an apologetic glance as I stiffened “She’s curvier than most wolves.”
Oh god. Did they have to point that out? I was already self-conscious about that and now they were bringing it to his attention. I glared at Alex. He blinked back at me, striving to look innocent.
Blaze’s jaw tightened. He pulled me up and turned me so that my back was pulled against his chest, his hands going to my waist. “My mate has curves in all the right places and is perfect the way she is” he boomed “There is not a single f*****g thing I would change about her. I thought you were her friends” he ended looking bewildered.
“We are,” Jaxon said bluntly “which is why we’re ensuring that Alex isn’t going to be mistreated by you or anyone else in your pack.”
I blushed. This was humiliating. But I wasn’t going to lie, it was absolutely thrilling that his hands were resting on my hips and that he was defending me so staunchly.
Grant cleared his throat. “What about your pack?” he asked gruffly, staring at the floor “Will they accept Jordan as their Luna?”
Blaze didn’t even hesitate “Of course they will. They won’t have a choice, but my pack has always accepted shifters for who they are. Diversity and inclusion are encouraged. I don’t care that she doesn’t have a wolf, or that she has curves. She’s gorgeous and I’m incredibly lucky to have found her.”
I glowed. Jaxon and Alex were smiling and shooting triumphant looks at each other. Slowly Blaze’s hand snaked around my waist and I inhaled sharply as I felt sparks fly between us. He smirked. Jaxon met my eyes and then asked the question I had been dreading.
“How do you feel about children?” he asked casually.
Oh f**k. Great. I tried not to tense. I swallowed hard. Blaze gave a nonchalant shrug “To be honest, I’m fine either way. It’s Jordan’s choice” he said easily “She’s the one who has to carry the child and deal with the pregnancy.”
“So, you would be happy to be a father,” I said slowly, praying the answer was yes.
“As long as it was with my mate, then of course I would be,” Blaze said, kissing the back of my head in affection “Why do you ask?” he said a bit confused.
I slowly pulled out of his embrace. “There’s something I need to tell you,” I told him, biting my lip, my eyes staring at him with fear as I bit my lip “The thing is, well that night we spent together…” I paused and flung my hands up helplessly.
Just spit it out already Jordan, I thought fiercely “I’m pregnant,” I said and held my breath as I watched realization dawn in his eyes.
